ashton tried to steady his hands as he lifted his cup for another drink. after that, he gripped the cup tightly in one hand, and tucked the other in the pocket of his jeans. he looked around some more, switching his eyes in a different direction whenever they landed on a girl. this had definitely been a bad idea, and he was actually thinking about leaving right then. ashton jumped when his pocket buzzed, realizing it was his phone. he pulled it out, seeing it was a text from his best friend. he'd wanted him to come with him to the party, but myles had already had plans, apparently, and couldn't make it. the text he had just received was to encourage him to talk to at least one girl that night. ashton sent quick reply than took a deep breath. he could do this.
no he couldn't. his courage came and went quickly, pretty much as soon as he started looking for a likely one to talk to. none of them seemed like they'd be easy to start a conversation, and most of them were already in one or otherwise occupied. ashton then saw a flash of red in a sea of mostly blond and brunette. it was that girl, autumn. myles 'math buddy'. she didn't look to good, he thought, and wondered what was wrong with her. she had leaned against the wall not too far from him, but ashton stayed where he was for a few moments. he kept glancing in her direction, though, encouraged by the fact that her eyes were closed so she wouldn't see him looking. finally, he swallowed, took a deep breath, then pushed off the wall and took a few steps in her direction. "are you-" his voice cracking on 'you', "are you ok?" ashton asked, still a few feet away from her, making it a bit awkward.

Post by AUTUMN WYNTER SOMMER on Apr 5, 2013 21:36:12 GMT -5
Autumn sighed softly, the wall feeling rather nice against her forehead. It was cool and refreshing and took her mind off of her best friend and her... companion. If at least, the moment. She didn't immediately respond to the voice because well... she wasn't sure if he was talking to her. When no response came, she blinked open her eyes and turned her head to see who the voice belonged to. She stepped away from the wall, flushing slightly, embarrassed to be found that way.
She smoothed out her dress, mostly out of nervousness and smiled softly at the young man standing... a little too far away. She didn't close the distance any, noticing he seemed... wary? Of her? It seemed ridiculous but everyone had their... oddities. She wasn't excluded in that.
"I'm... all right." She finally answered and gave him a sweet smile. She brushed back her red hair and glanced over his face for a moment, searching her memory for a name. She knew this boy, he was best friends with one of her own good friends. It was odd they hadn't really come across one another very much. Myles had explained it to her once or twice but her head was feeling a little dizzy. Thoughts weren't coming to her so easily at the moment. "Ashton... right? You're Myles' friend. Thank you for asking but I uh... I'm not really a party kind of person. At least not these kinds of parties so its... just overwhelming."
She rubbed her arm lightly, another nervous tick as she glanced around the room, just catching her friend making out with that... woman. Her eyes narrowed slightly but she took a deep breath and let it out slowly, keeping her opinions to herself. Natalie was changing too quickly, too rapidly for anyone's good. She needed to calm down before she got really hurt. Autumn couldn't say she didn't understand what Natalie was going through, she did. After all, Autumn was fairly intelligent, she understood a lot of things. But she also understood there were many, many better ways to deal with her issues.
Natalie was an issue she would deal with at another time. Her fever was slowly spiking and she knew her heart could sputter out at any time. The last thing she needed was getting stressed over something she couldn't control. She turned back to Ashton and smiled again, "Are you... um... having fun?" She was genuinely interested in what he had to say. Ashton was very cute, it wasn't the first time she had noticed and she knew she wasn't the only one but for some reason, girls avoided him or he avoided them. She wasn't sure which but Myles had assured her he was a good guy... on numerous occasions. Seriously, Myles was not very subtle at all. But some of the girls she ran into seemed to think he was... odd.

jackson grinned when kitty flushed. he always found her reactions entertaining, aware of the fact that she liked him. he feigned innocence and offense when she implied that he was being hypocritical in his drinking habits. "what, this?" he asked, pointing to his cup. "how do you know it's alcoholic? could be plain old water." as if. jackson didn't drink it often, mainly just when he was working out.
despite not being close with kitty or really seeing her has a friend, talking to her always added to his ego. the fact that she clearly liked him, quite a bit, he figured, was something he liked to see. jackson didn't know exactly what their relationship was, if you could call it one. casual friends? a mild flirtation? who knew. and who knew what it would one day become. he had no interest in dating, since that was something far too close to any sort of commitment, but friends with benefits was definitely an option. on his end, anyway. jackson had the feeling, however, that kitty really wouldn't mind such an arrangement. most girls didn't, but there were always exceptions.
as his gazed lingered on her, he saw the dark haired girl give him sort of a look, like she didn't approve, then natalie caught site of him again and smiled. jackson returned the smile, but it didn't last long. the older girl had leaned in and kissed her, which was surprising enough, but even more surprising was the fact that natalie actually kissed her back. he almost chocked on his drink, as he'd just taken a sip, but managed to get it down. jackson cleared his throat, returning his attention to kitty as he tried not to think about what he'd just seen. he didn't particularly like it, but then, it wasn't like he and natalie were together, and never would be.
"they tend to do that," he replied with a bit of a laugh. it was rude of him to pay attention to another girl while he was already talking to one, especially one that was crushing on him, but when had jackson cared about that sort of thing? not many times, though it did happen once in a while. she didn't seem to be bothered by it, however, or maybe she was just good at hiding the fact. kitty seemed to not be jealous at all, and that didn't seem a likely reaction, considering what he knew.
jackson wondered why kitty was grinning at him, but his curiosity was soon satisfied when she replied. he smirked and snorted at what she said. "first off, i wasn't staring. secondly, i'm never shy. and third, they definitely aren't." he glanced in her direction once more, then looked at kitty. "found you first, so stopped for a chat. plus, she seems a little preoccupied at the moment," jackson said with a shrug, acting as if he didn't care. he shook his head, chuckling a little bit. "if i didn't know any better, i'd think you were tryin' to get rid of me." he arched an eyebrow, a questioning look that asked if kitty really was.
maybe it was because he wanted to get natalie's attention or the alcohol in his blood. it could have even been the fact that kitty was dressed pretty provocatively. whatever the reason, jackson acted on impulse, as usual, and kissed the girl. it wasn't a soft, slow kiss, but it wasn't harsh, either. it was more of a make out session than just a single kiss, especially as his tongue came into play.

ashton waited for autumn to reply to his question, looking around uncomfortably until she finally opened her eyes and looked at him. he gave her a nervous smile when she did, pretending he didn't notice her flush. he knew from experience that it was no fun being embarrassed, so he tried to spare other people that as much as possible. ashton knew he should have closed the distance between them, at least a little, but he couldn't bring himself to actually do it.
"i just- i just asked because," his voice cracking again, and even a bit shaky. he hated talking to girls and really regretted starting a conversation with autumn. ashton tried not to flush as he continued, clearing his throat again. "you looked a little pale." not that she wasn't pretty, despite that, so hopefully she wouldn't take offense at him saying that. "maybe it's just the lights," he said quickly, wishing he wouldn't have made the first comment. ashton closed his eyes and grimaced, wishing he hadn't said anything about it at all. "yeah." he replied, when autumn guessed his name. he was a bit surprised that she'd remembered it. "i'm- i'm not really, either." he gave a nervous laugh, clearing his throat once again and scratching the back of his neck. "and you're welcome," ashton remembered to say, his voice cracking yet again on 'you're'.
he had stood there a bit awkwardly for a moment, trying to think of something to say, but failing miserably. ashton was almost relieved when autumn finally asked him a question. "uh.. yeah. it's-it's a nice party." of course, he wasn't really having a good time, being too nervous, but he didn't really want to tell autumn that. "you?" he asked, more out of politeness, since he wanted to get out of the conversation as soon as possible. it wasn't that he didn't want to talk to her or get to know her. ashton liked the idea. up until the point where he actually started talking to her. at that point all he wanted to do was crawl under a rock.

She laughed and shook her head, sticking her tongue out slightly, teasingly. "I know for a fact you drink alcohol like it is water but I do believe that's not the same thing." She wasn't saying he was an alchoholic.. she was just saying if he had a choice between the two water wouldn't be his first choice.
Kitty saw from the corner of her eye, the two girls getting... awfully close. Was she the only one who saw that coming? Her heart lifted briefly, wondering if that meant she had a chance with Jackson but her negativity crushed that hope almost instantly. She wasn't good enough for Jackson, they all knew it, even him. Plus Jackson wasn't a one-woman kind of guy, he liked his women almost as much as he liked his booze. Lots of different kinds and never-ending.
Kitty had so many witty comebacks and wished she had been able to get them all out but instead they died on her tongue as... he used his. It took her completely by surprise. Her hand itched to slap him, push him away, something but her mouth had given in to his. After all, this is exactly what her heart had wanted for so long now. Why would she pass it up?
Her hands had moved to his shoulders at some point, she didn't remember doing it. She finally seemed to come to her senses and pulled back, rather wide-eyed and turning redder by the second. She opened her mouth to yell but instead it came out awfully quiet, almost a whisper. "I think that proves there's not water in there..."
She cleared her throat and stepped back away from him, almost like she was afraid or something. "I think you should go to your blonde bombshell now." She murmured, not really looking directly at him now. She bit her bottom lip and sighed, really not wanting him to leave but he had to, she was going to get attached and knew for a fact it would be only one-sided. "You really shouldn't have done that." She said it like she hadn't participated... Unfortunately if he asked to do it again or even more.. she knew she couldn't and wouldn't say no.

jackson didn't try arguing with the fact that he practically lived on alcohol. anyone who went to his school probably knew that, since he really didn't try to hide it. there was only one thing that he tried to hide, and so far he was doing a pretty good job of it, since natalie was the only one outside of family who knew. "maybe so, but i seem to be doing just fine on it," jackson replied with a wink as he took another sip.
as he kissed kitty, who he noticed had very nice lips, he wondered what was going through her head. so far she hadn't slapped him or made any attempts to push him away, so he figured she was enjoying it. she should be for two reasons. the first being that jackson was a very good kisser, the second, he knew she'd been wanting this for a long time. her hands moving to his shoulders confirmed his suspicions. jackson couldn't help letting out a snort of laughter. "that's it? no 'thank you'?" he asked in his cocky manner, an amused smiling still on his face, however. kitty was an interesting girl, to say the least. he hadn't anticipated her reaction. "maybe it had nothing to do with.. this." in fact, he knew that it really wasn't because of that. jackson could hold his liquor very well, after all.
he arched an eyebrow when she backed away from him, puzzled by the way she was acting. wasn't this something she'd wanted? he shook his head at her words, a know-it-all look on his face that said he wasn't falling for it. "i don't know you that well, kitty, but i'm not stupid. quit pretending that you didn't enjoy every second of that kiss," jackson said, taking a step so as to close the distance between them. "oh, and uh, she's not my blonde bombshell. just ask her." he wouldn't mind that arrangement, but natalie didn't seem to be too interested in him anymore. he tried not to think about that, though, bringing his attention back to kitty. "really? why is that?" jackson asked, leaning in just a little closer. he was now just an inch, maybe two away from her face, and staring very hard at her. as if he was daring kitty to try and not kiss him. good luck.
