Tristan laughed, shaking his head. Cereal is not a proper breakfast Brooklyn! You silly Americans! He had never had cereal for breakfast in all his life. This is not to say that he hadn't had cereal ever. Just not for breakfast. His Gran had basically forbidden it, not that it was a readily available food in the UK. Many things that American's regularly consumed things that were forbidden in Tristan's country. Thus their overall health in the country was higher then that in the US. And have to stopped to consider m-my dear Brooklyn...that I might be w-wanting you to come with me? He teased. Tristan wouldn't make her come if she wasn't comfortable. However, she was going to need to start adjusting to this type of life.
Tristan beamed as she said she wanted nothing more than to be his wife. And I want nothing more than to have you as my wife. He kissed her cheek as he placed the ring on her finger. N-No need to be sorry darling. I understand. Tristan was very open minded when it came to people and the varying experiences and how they dealt with things. He recognized that Brooklyn's life had been the polar opposite of his own. Therefore, their minds would work differently on some subjects. Tristan stroked her arm gently as they spoke, but she startled him as jumped up. What?! What's wrong?! His alarm showing on his face. When Tristan heard Brooklyn's question, he gave a sigh of relief, laughing a little bit. Well I would like to shoot for this summer...unless you had a different timeline in your mind? He shrugged. It wasn't that the date or how slowly or quickly it all came together wasn't important to him. Tristan just wanted to be sure that things were going how she wanted. He looked very confused now as she let off a stream of curse words. Well...Is that a problem?! He asked. Um...a situation.... Tristan said to himself as Brooklyn flew out of their bedroom door. He fell back on the bed and huffed. Lovely...we have a situation...this is just going to...be...lovely.
Tristan rolled off the bed and moseyed down to his office. He entered without being seen by her parents as the back of the computer faced the door. Tristan sat down on the couch, and leaned his head back as he listened to her speak to them. Tristan sighed softly, and put his elbows on his knees and propped his head up with his hands, bouncing lightly, as he was a bit nervous. Brooklyn's parents didn't seem to be too in favor of them getting married. Tristan wasn't sure exactly what that meant for the two of them. If her parents didn't support them, what kind of stress would that put on Brooklyn?
Tristan finally got up and started towards the computer, hoping that just maybe if he could talk to her parents, he could put them all at ease, if only temporarily. He made a quick decision to ignore Brooklyn's words and came into her parents view. Leaning over Brooklyn's shoulder, he smiled. Hello....Mr. and Mrs. Sawyer. He waved as he smiled, trying to look and be as congenial as possible. Well....I can see this is probably a bit of a shock to you both. Tristan chuckled a little. But, I do love your daughter very much. He explained. And I'm confident that I can make her happy and give her a life you two would be happy to have her live. Tristan hoped his words would help at least some. He wanted to give Brooklyn a kiss, but he decided against that. Her father probably wouldn't take too kindly to it, so he just stood there smiling and discretely rubbing his hand up and down Brooklyn's back.

( STATUS ) COMPLETE “Hey! Cereal is perfectly fine if you add things like strawberries and bananas to it. Then you’ve got a balanced breakfast.” She laughed but truthfully, she sometimes didn’t even get that. There were some mornings she was lucky to get a bagel down her throat and digested. Especially when working on a gown. Once she began to piece one together, Brooklyn usually got into a zone with her work. She exerted all her energy into that piece and often forgot to do pretty much anything else. Good thing she had a fairly decent manager for the shop. Her nose wrinkled up in thought. “Where are we going?” If he was going to be gone all day then she’d gladly go with him. Just some places they went made hear bit uneasy so she liked to mentally prep herself for whatever it was. She may be a pretty tough girl but Tristan’s lifestyle was a whole new ballgame. She was doing fairly well with it but there were some things that still came to be a little tough. Still, Brooklyn was learning for his sake.
Just the thought of being husband and wife made her giddy to think about. She couldn’t wait to tell Kylie as the girl was going to be her maid-of-honor. There was no second thoughts about it! And Kylie could help Brooklyn design her gown. Those would probably be easy compared to everything else that would need to be done. Especially planning a wedding this quickly. Hey, at least it was more time to plan then the couple back home had. “No this summer is perfect.“ Brooklyn hoped her mother would be helpful with planning this wedding, especially where it had to come together so quickly. That is if they would talk to her after this. After Brooklyn crawled out of the bed, she turned to Tristan and chuckled nervously. “Tristan-you asked me to marry you without asking my u.s. marine father for permission, let alone meeting him. Yeah, there’s going to be a problem on his end of things.” She wasn’t trying to frighten Tristan away but her father had some pretty narrow views on things. And respect was one of them. This would be a huge blow to a man like him.
Brooklyn eyed Tristan as he came in. she couldn’t blame him with her little freak out upstairs and the way she had bolted out. she was completely happy with him proposing. Really, she couldn’t be more thrilled at the prospect of it. Just she knew her parents. Her mother would come around but her father would be a tough one to break. If people thought Brooklyn was stubborn when first meeting her, they’d think she was a piece of cake compared to her father. Not that he was a complete hard-ass but there were certain things in his mind he was set on. A guy asking for Brooklyn’s hand in marriage was one of them. And with how he was going off on her, she could tell he hadn’t relented with that at al.
“Oh please dad, be happy we’re even taking the time to plan a proper wedding. I could’ve gone to vegas, gotten hitched and then showed up a few days later with photos of us with the elvis minister.” she put on her sugary sweet smile which really wasn’t sweet at all. She felt bad Tristan had to hear this. Brooklyn could have a fiery side but she was trying to reel in some things like her cussing because he needed a good public appearance. That was going out the window right now. She felt even worse he had to hear her using her sexual exploits to push her father’s buttons. Brooklyn knew it’d get to her dad because he had come to her apartment as a soldier friend of her’s was leaving. Talk about awkward. “would it be better that I was pregnant? because I guarantee if I was knocked up right now you’d be demanding he married me. If so, I retract my previous statement-mom, dad you’re going to be grandparents. To triplets. That should make you happy dad-increased chances of that boy you never got. Now will you be supportive?” her tone was one of mocking as she stared hard at the man who stood behind her mother and was shouting at Brooklyn through the computer. Brooklyn lifted her head up slightly to bang against her arm, which she kept repeating. She knew Tristan meant well and she did appreciate it but he had never dealt with her father’s temper. The sawyer man could be downright scary. When Tristan was done talking, it was eerily silent. She sighed. “mom where on the spectrum is dad’s face?” there was a pause. dark plum with splashes of scarlet. Brooklyn breathed in before she pushed herself up to look back at the screen. “dad? Anything?”
She watched her father shake his head before he responded. no, no absolutely not. He didn’t have the respect to come ask me. And where the hell did moving to England come from? I’ve never heard you talk about wanting to move anywhere aside from your grandmother’s! god, I thought we were past thins Brooklyn! Or are you still that naïve to believe every word some f*cking guy tells you when he tries to bed you? I always thought I raised you better but you keep proving to me that’s not right.”
Brooklyn flinched at her father’s words. She could hear her mother in the background getting after him for what he had said. Brooklyn drew in a sharp breath as hot tears rose to her eyes. “wow, dad, thanks for throwing my mistakes in my face like that. I thought better of me now but apparently my mistakes are the only things that matter in your eyes. Because you are perfect and without sin so have any right to judge.” she looked over the top of the computer screen to gather her thoughts before she looked back at the images of her parents. “I really hope you change your mind because if you don’t, I‘m done with you. I won’t even tell you when he wedding happens nor where and you will know our children. Now I have to go, we have a busy day planned.” Brooklyn signed off. She stared silently at the screen for several minutes before she drew a large amount of air through her nose. With a face of stone, she moved back from the desk and turned to press a kiss to Tristan’s cheek. She put on a half smile. “I’m going to take a shower and get ready for today. Then we can talk about your crazy ideas for this. Obviously you had to have planned the sign for this ring awhile ago, giving you time to think. I’m sure you have plenty of ideas for our wedding.” Some of the sparkle returned to her eyes in thinking about their wedding.
Brooklyn brushed off talking about what just transpired right now. She couldn’t handle it. She needed a hot shower to clear her head first. Plus, getting ready after gave her plenty of time to gather her thoughts. Part of Brooklyn’s marine brat ways was kicking in as she gathered the things in Tristan’s-their-room and went to get herself ready for the day.

Tristan laughed at her again. That is just a wholesome snack babe...who taught you nutrition?! He teased her. Tristan knew quite a bit about nutrition. With the schools he'd been educated at, nutrition had been one of the top priorities. They wanted their students to do well in their studies. And the easiest way to start them in that direction was to feed them healthy foods that promoted concentration. Junk food had been strictly forbidden. One of Tristan's classmates and been expelled for two weeks for getting caught with junk food. Of course, that was after he'd been given a warning about it.
I have a rehearsal this afternoon and then we usually go out after, get some supper, maybe hit a jazz club or two later in the evening. He smiled down at her. Thought you might like to come along and there's some people I'd like you to meet....My mate Tom, has a really sweet girlfriend, Chesney, I think you two would get along really well. Tristan explained. And they're dying to meet you. There were other friends of his that wanted to meet Brooklyn and they would in time. But he wasn't going to overwhelm her. For now Tom and Chesney were the important ones anyway. Outside of Oliver, Tom was Tristan's best friend and he adored Chesney.
Tristan sighed at her words, and scratched his head. Yah...he hadn't asked her dad. That had been a stupid move. He'd known better than to just propose to a girl without asking permission. Gran had taught him that. But he'd just been so caught up in the moment, he hadn't stopped to think. If he had, had the presence of mind, he would have gotten Brooklyn's phone from her purse while she was sleeping, and gotten the number and called Mr. Sawyer. Perhaps he could just call now and ask, and pretend like it hadn't happened, yet? No that would be dishonest. Something Tristan wasn't a fan of being.
Tristan was surprised at some of the stuff he was hearing, from both ends. Brooklyn was being pretty hard on her dad, maybe a bit too hard, considering what the man had been through lately. Her mother seemed a little more willing to accept things, but only a little. She was probably thrilled on the inside, as most women were when their child decided to "tie the knot", but hiding it, so as not to cause strain on her husband and make him feel ganged up on. But Tristan could have been wrong about that, of course.
Tristan grew angry at the words that Brooklyn's father said to her. But he hid it well. Had then been face to face however, Tristan would have been severely tempted to take the guy. He wasn't scared of guys that were bigger than him. Tristan Welcott was no coward. Her father simply wasn't being fair. It was one thing to be angry or put off, but to throw your daughters haunted past up in her face, was another thing. Tristan lost any and all respect for the man right there. He would be civil if they ever met, which seemed unlikely now as Brooklyn was telling them they'd better support her, or she'd cut them out of her life, but no more than civil.
Tristan had considered saying a few more words to her parents, but it probably would go over even worse then the last words he'd just spoken and Brooklyn was handling the situation. They just needed time to come around. And if they really loved Brooklyn, come around they would and hopefully before the wedding. Tristan had been to a wedding where the Bride's parents had refused to come and while it was still a joyous and beautiful event, the tole it had taken on the Bride was quite obvious. Tristan didn't want that for Brooklyn.
Tristan stood silently beside Brooklyn, as she just started at the screen. He wasn't sure if he should say anything, or if he could really say anything that would help her right now, so he just let one of his hands gently rub her shoulder. He smiled as she kissed his cheek and spoke about their wedding, as if none of that conversation had just taken place. I have a few thoughts, yeah. He confirmed and kissed her lips.
Tristan watched her get up and leave the room and plopped back down on the couch, putting his head in his hands once more. He had caused this mess. Something that was meant to be beautiful and happy from beginning to end, had just been turned into a ball of stress that they would now pretend was a completely happy event with not hitches whatsoever. Tristan hated pretending about real life things. On stage, okay. But in his every day life, he didn't like to have to act. What could he do to help Brooklyn? Was there anything?
Getting up, Tristan walked back up the stairs. He felt an overwhelming need to be near her. Going into the bedroom, he heard the shower going. Tristan walked in and watched her from the doorway for a moment, before doing something he never thought he would in his premarital life. Tristan removed his clothes and got into the shower behind her. Putting his arms around her mid section, his chest was touching her back. He leaned his head to kiss her bare shoulder, letting it linger for a few moments. I'm sorry about your parents babe...I'm sure it'll all work out in time though...They just need to warm up to the idea He said softly, and moving her wet locks of hair aside, kissed her neck. I love you Brooklyn.

( STATUS ) COMPLETE “Um the trix rabbit and the green giant.” she chuckled. In all seriousness, Brooklyn was generally a healthy person. With traveling around the world you got to taste a lot of non-american cuisine which she still liked. Some of it she had learned to cook and others she ordered. The major exception though with her diet was French fries. French fries were her one major weakness. her grandmother and her even had their own vegetable garden back at the house.
Brooklyn nodded her head in thought. “yeah that sounds good. Might set my body into London time. Though I may be so exhausted I pass out while in my clothes. Shoes and all.” Brooklyn like meeting Tristan’s friends. So far they had all been really nice. And when she sat in his rehearsals his cast mates were really nice to her as well. Except myrna when she sat in on a west side story one. That hadn’t gone over very well but she brushed it off. She could take people being cold to her. “I just have to stop by the bank to exchange some money if we have time.” she had travelers checks but she hated to use them. She’d rather just exchange the currency and carry euros then anything else.
one might not believe it, but this wasn’t even the worst fight her and her father have had. After her uncle was first, her aunt was coming to Brooklyn’s mom to talk and Brooklyn would take her cousins out for a distraction. Well her father didn’t like that so much. He said that their family couldn’t get mixed up in that right now. Mixed up? Mixed up?! They were family. Her aunt and cousins were effected just as much. Oh, Brooklyn let her view be known. The two went head to head that night. The fight had been vicious. Brooklyn’s dad accused her of being disloyal to the family and told her that when people made their beds they had to lie in it, like Brooklyn. Brooklyn threw back about how he was a government robot with no heart and how there were times she wished that mom had never gone back to him so someone could have come in their lives who could love. Her father had slapped her across the face. He told her she would do what he said and wanted as long as she was in his house because didn’t want her to tarnish his reputation anymore then she had by sleeping with someone in his battalion. So Brooklyn called her grandmother and arranged her move. She didn’t want to deal with it anymore.
Despite her father’s temper, she didn’t think he’d go off like that. Tristan was the opposite of most guys she had been with. He was actually considerate of her and her feelings, didn’t push her to do anything and worked past her emotional barriers. He was a good man with a gentle, loving soul. He made Brooklyn want to be a better person because of that. Even these past few weeks there had been a change. It was slight, but there. She was being much more mindful of certain things she said and did in public. But, no one seemed to care about that at all. It broke Brooklyn’s heart despite her no letting it show. No, she picked up the pieces, held them close and put up her protective barriers to keep from crying.
Brooklyn’s touch along her shoulders helped. Really, nothing else could at this point. A hot shower and being held by him is what she really needed. A shower would be best first because she could wash away everything that had just happened. She squeezed at Tristan’s arm and smiled brightly. “I figured you did if you took the time to design the ring. I should think of some of my own I guess.” she laughed lightly as she walked away from him. It wasn’t that she hadn’t ever thought about if she got married but actually having a groom added a whole new player to the game. As long as she got to design her own gown then nothing else mattered. Well, except that Tristan was the groom. She couldn’t imagine marrying anyone else and hadn’t been able to imagine anyone else the last few weeks either.
Once in the bathroom, Brooklyn switched on the shower as she started to cry. Brooklyn may have the tough exterior but whenever she took a shower she never held anything back. Tears would freely flow until she exhausted them. Brooklyn may be brushing off like the fight wasn’t bothering her but it really was. Yes, she had said some things that were wrong but her father’s words cut deep. She thought he had moved past that! It was nearly three years ago now! Brooklyn felt ashamed enough but it had been the only way she felt anything. Her mother was too busy handling her grandmother’s emotions and her dad was deployed when her grandfather died. That left her to handle her emotions by herself. No she hadn’t handled it the best way but she was young and hurt that she lost someone she loved dearly. Now she could handle loss better just then she was too young to understand healthy ways to cope.
Brooklyn reached up to soak her hair before she reached for her shampoo to lather up her hair. She felt soothed as the suds ran down her body but it didn’t wash away the hurt and the shame she felt. She sniffled as she reached for the conditioner. The feeling of Tristan behind her made her jump and she dropped the bottle on the ground. “Tristan, what-” this was surprising. Neither had yet to cross that line and while she wanted it, Brooklyn wasn’t sure this was the best time to have his bare body pressed to hers. She was trying so hard to choke back the tears she had been letting flow freely before.
Her eyes fluttered shut as he kissed her bare shoulder. Normally she’d be craving more, and part of her did, but right now she was just too numb. Hr head nodded as some salty tears mixed with the hot water from the shower. “I know my mom will, especially if my grandmother talks to her. Just my dad…” Brooklyn shook her head as she clamped her eyelids together, trying to stem the flow of emotions. “I thought that he thought better of me now. He said he was proud when I opened the store and that I was taking care of my grandmother and having all this responsibility. He said that maybe a year ago.” she leaned her head back and to the side to press against Tristan’s cheek but kept her eyes forward. “it’s not like he’s an angel himself. He has so many skeletons in his closet but I don’t hold it over his head. It’s like anything I do that’s not to his standards are because I’m naïve. It’s annoying.”
Brooklyn hadn’t meant to go off like that. Everything just sort of fell out. There were the facts of what her father had done which were held back, of course, but she needed to get it out. She sniffled yet again before she lulled her head to the side, giving Tristan better access to her neck. “I love you too Tristan. Very much so.” she wasn’t a perfect girl and yet he accepted her fully. Brooklyn slipped her arms over his to pull him closer to her while she let the sobs wrack her body. She had always imagined when she got married her father would be in his dress blues, walking her down the aisle while her mother sat watching and then they’d dance to “Cinderella” by her father’s favorite singer, steven curtis chapman. Yes, Brooklyn ahd imagined it all and now it lay shattered at her feet.
What did it matter if Tristan had asked permission or not? Brooklyn was happier then she had been in years. With Tristan she didn’t feel like she had to be rigid at all times. She could just be her. Everyone else could see it. Her mother could even tell it in Brooklyn’s tone. Yet her father just didn’t seem to care. It didn’t help the man stalked around google looking Tristan up. Apparently there was a photo of that kiss from new year’s somewhere out there. Yeah, her dad was pretty pissed about that. Even when Brooklyn told him she went there and he didn’t know ahead of time, again, it meant nothing to him. Brooklyn sometimes wished he wouldn’t be so very stubborn. Jus this one time….this one time she wished he’d see her side of things and be happy for her, no questions asked. It wasn’t asking for the world but he acted like Brooklyn was.
well, I don‘t think couples usually do this in the shower ): |

Tristan smiled Don't worry...If you fall asleep in your clothes, I'll at least remove your shoes for you, before I tuck you into bed. He kissed her lips softly and let one of his hands run up and down her arm. Tristan nodded at her wanting to stop at the bank. Of course...anything you need sweetheart. He loved having her here and getting to drive her places and do things together. Things as simple as running errands. Things that would normally be chores, became great fun when you had someone you loved and adored with everything you were, to do it with.
Being with Brooklyn, having her as his fiancee now, it was better than anything he could imagine. Since their relationship had started, he didn't think he'd come down off of Cloud 9. There was a constant spring in his step. Tristan felt as if he weighed nothing, And it was all because of Brooklyn and how much he loved her. He never realized it was possible to feel thus about a person.
Tristan smiled and chuckled softly at her. I thought all girls had their wedding planned out by the time they were 4 or 5 years old. Well whether that was true of Brooklyn or not, statistics said that 90% of women did. But Brooklyn wasn't your average woman and she certainly wasn't a statistic. By the way, I wouldn't wear the ring around, unless you want it all over in the tabloids by the weekend....I want this to be private, you know? When we're good and married, then the media can find out. For now, we don't need them making plans to crash our wedding. Tristan was relatively sure that Brooklyn would agree with him on this. She didn't care for the media and while Tristan didn't mind so much, he didn't want them being part of their wedding. Perhaps they could be convinced to to release a few, personal photographs of the event for a magazine or two. But nothing major. A wedding was serious and intimate. At least, in Tristan's mind.
Tristan hadn't meant to startle Brooklyn when he got in the shower. But he'd had to do it. She was hurting, but trying to stay strong, it was obvious. He'd seen that Brooklyn had been trying to hold back the tears and everything else. But she didn't have to do that with Tristan. She was going to be his wife. Wives and Husband should be able to break down in front of each other and not be embarrassed or ashamed for doing so. Tristan didn't want Brooklyn to feel that she ever had to hide a solitary thing from him. He was here for her, longing to be able to do something to ease her pain.
Tristan began to rub Brooklyn's shoulders, as he stood behind her, just listening to whatever she needed to say. When she finished her comments about her father, Tristan sighed, trying to stave his anger at the man. If there was anyone he should have been yelling at, it was Tristan, not Brooklyn. She hadn't asked him to marry her, it was the other way around. All Brooklyn had done was said yes. What? Did he want her to say "No, you need to talk to my dad first"?! He as just angry...he didn't mean those things Brooklyn, people just say things they don't mean when they're angry sometimes. He returned the kiss she'd placed on his cheek, the feel of her velvety soft lips, sent a wave of pleasure through him, despite the tenseness of the moment. He's proud of you Brooklyn...who wouldn't be....You're a very special, capable woman. Tristan told her. Yah...you've made your mistakes, had your rough patches, and dark times....But who hasn't? It hadn't been right of her father to throw things up in her face like he'd done. Tristan couldn't blame her for being deeply hurt by it. This will blow over, you just wait and see....I am sorry I didn't ask him first though...I ought to have....It's a respect thing....I understand his frustration...But he should have directed it at me, not at you. He did feel bad, this was his fault.
Tristan held Brooklyn, as she closed his arms about her body, and began to sob. After a moment, Tristan turned her, so that she faced him, and wrapped his arms around her once again, allowing his hands to slowly go up and down her back as her head buried in his shoulder. Tristan kissed her cheek. Awww....babe. It's all gonna be alright...I'm sorry he hurt you.....He was completely wrong about everything he said...You're not that person anymore and that's why he said it. If you had still been the Brooklyn he referred to, he wouldn't have thrown it in your face...I think he'd have been trying to get you to change.
Tristan didn't know Brooklyn's parents, especially her father. But he did know basic principals of parent/child relationships, not from experience, but from his studies and from the stage. If the parent loved their child, at all, the least little bit, there was something within them, that made them wish to help.

( STATUS ) COMPLETE Brooklyn spent most of her life being fairly independent so having to be driven around by Tristan or taking a car service could be a pain at times. As soon as she could get her international license renewed then things would be so much easier. Still, Tristan usually made it enjoyable. And besides, driving with him they were usually able to get out of situations easier if any of the media came around. Brooklyn, well, would not handle it as calmly as he did. She wasn’t used to all of this. Even the news stations back home that had questions about her uncle were overwhelming. In the span of six months Brooklyn had a camera shoved in her face more then she probably had in the last five years. If she were to be honest it was becoming annoying but she was doing her best to handle it. That was part of being with Tristan and then the media outlets back home would hopefully calm down once the trial was done. she hoped that is.
Brooklyn tried not to event to Tristan about it too much because she enjoyed their time together. And that time was so precious where they had to travel back and forth. She didn’t want him getting the wrong idea so she just handled it on her own. If he noticed she was particularly tense he could usually coax whatever was bothering her out. Which was pretty unique. No other man was ever able to get through to her despite her attempts not to let them in. Tristan just had their way about him where she couldn’t resist talking to him, especially when he was being so caring towards Brooklyn.
“Ok you forget I work in the business of selling and creating wedding dresses. I’m also partners with Giovanna so I know all the latest wedding trends. I gave up planning my dream wedding about four years ago.” Of course four years ago was also when she started her dark period so it wasn’t surprising she stopped planning a future then. At that time, Brooklyn didn’t think she was worth more then being tossed between the sheets. In her mind no one could love a girl like her. “besides it’s more fun if we plan it together. If not I might go a little crazy.” she chuckled as she pressed a kiss to his cheek. This moment was helping to ease her stress about the fight with her father. When she pulled away from him she sighed softly but nodded in agreement with Tristan. “alright but as soon as I step foot back in this flat it goes right back on.” she paused in thought. “I probably shouldn’t wear it at my uncle’s trial, either. There’ll be cameras there and we shouldn’t risk anyone over here seeing it on you tube or something.” Brooklyn would need to invest in a long chain to wear her ring around. Really long. And then she could tuck it into her top so it was completely out of sight.
Brooklyn knew she could talk to Tristan about anything. She logically knew that but some habits were hard to break. She was so used to keeping her feelings to herself over the years it was second nature. That’s how she got such a bubbly demeanor-she lokcked away all the bad thoughts and only let the good shine through. She had done that all throughout her teenage years so it was nothing different now. But...it was different. There was someone willing to be there for her with anything. Brooklyn just had to learn not to automatically put her defenses up whenever something bad happened. The process of doing that was slow but it was happening. All it took was time and patience.
Brooklyn wished she could believe when Tristan said her father was proud of her. She wished she could believe her father actually was from when he told her a year ago. She just couldn’t. how could she believe that he was proud when every time she did something that displeased him all her mistakes came out. Brooklyn’s voice was soft as she sighed. “it wouldn’t be so hard to swallow if it wasn’t for the fact that he brings it up every time I do something he doesn’t like. Every single time. That’s what hurts because he just can’t seem to let it go. He can’t keep holding onto that one part of my past forever!” Brooklyn felt a new wave of anger course through her but tried to calm herself. “Tristan….” she paused and shook her head. How could she explain her father to him without upsetting him? She didn’t want him to think her father would hate him forever but it took a lot for her father to change his mind. “Tristan this won’t blow over so easily. He’ll come around only when something of great significance changes his mind. He was cutting my aunt and her kids out after what my uncle did. He said they were just as much in trouble. He let them back in only after the attack and my aunt came around the hospital and went to my parents house to get things ready. Including grocery shopping, getting medical supplies, driving my mother and handling calls from friends and family, all without being asked and using her own money. That was when he changed his mind and that was over a year later.”
Brooklyn didn’t want to mention it wouldn’t matter if he asked for permission or not. Her father would never believe them getting married this soon was a good thing. In fact that’d probably be a dangerous conversation. It’s not that she didn’t believe Tristan could hold his own just she’d rather handle her father’s temper then Tristan.
Brooklyn hooked her arms under Tristan’s as the rested up her back and she gripped at his shoulders. Being held by him helped to calm her nerves and the tears that were spilling over. She began to feel calm as she was pressed against him and felt his arms wrapped around her. “I hope your right. I just can’t take being thought of that way anymore.” Brooklyn had owned up to her past but she had also moved on from it. She never drank to get drunk and hadn’t been with anyone in any form. The closest was Tristan these last few weeks. with her emotions calm she pulled away from Tristan before she reached a hand up to smooth his wet hair behind his ear. She leaned herself upwards to bring their lips together in a loving kiss. Brooklyn just needed to be held and kissed by Tristan at this moment in time. His loving heart was able to make things better.
=O oh no! what now?! |

I didn't take you as one for giving up on anything. Tristan teased her. He could understand how when you were constantly helping others plan their weddings, it might get old and planning your own might be even more overwhelming, because of all the ideas bouncing around in your head from the other brides. Tristan smiled widely when she said it would be more fun to plan together. Well, I think you would be right on that. It was touching that Brooklyn wanted his help in the planning, after all it was not just her wedding, it was their wedding. But he knew nothing about planning a wedding. He'd do his best to be a help though. Tristan really wouldn't have minded though, if Brooklyn wanted to plan it on her own. It would probably turn out better if she did. Either way, he was just happy that they were taking this step.
Of course! I hate to see it leave that pretty little finger at all...But for the sake of our sanity and that of our family's I'm afraid it must be taken off now and then...But make sure you bring it with you. Tom and Chesney will kill me if they don't get to see it tonight. He laughed. The two knew how serious Tristan had been about Brooklyn and fully expected him to propose, though perhaps not this "Soon". Tristan would not be able to refrain from telling Tom the happy news, so the ring would have to be discretely shown to the couple. Tristan brought her hand to his lips, kissing her ring finger gently, then running his hand over top of hers, before leaning in to kiss her lips. Tristan hoped that he could make her happy every day for the rest of their lives, and beyond.
Well, maybe he brings it up, because it's the only thing you've ever done wrong Tristan whispered softly as his hands moved up and down her arms. He kissed her jawline, line and sweet, lingering at each chosen spot. Babe...whatever they throw at us....we can handle...if this is what you want. I hate to have to put it this way....But if they're not willing to go along with this, then you have a decision to make...Me, or your parents....I love you so much Brooklyn and it would kill me to lose you....But because I love you so much, I'd let you go, if you decided what you really needed was your parents. Tristan kissed her shoulder. I know what it is to live without your parents...Its harder than one can ever imagine....especially when they're angry at you...You've had a taste of it babe...But if, for the sake of our relationship, they had to be cut out completely, could you handle it? Would I really be worth it? That's what you have to ask yourself sweetheart. Tristan was by no means trying to put doubts and fears in Brooklyn's mind. This was just the reality of what they were facing and there were different paths that she needed to consider, for her sake and hers only. Tristan didn't want to let her go, but he loved her enough to let go, if it was necessary.
Babe..there's always going to be someone out there who thinks ill of you. All that matters is whether or not what they think is true...And in the case of your parents...maybe it was once, but it's not anymore...You and I know who you are now Brooklyn, Kylie and Oliver and Cameron know it....It doesn't matter what your parents think anymore. Tristan knew it wasn't that cut and dry, because one always wanted approval from their parents. But if she wanted to be truly happy, she was going to have move past this.
Tristan wrapped his arms around Brooklyn as she leaned up for a kiss, bringing her body snugly against his own. He could feel her every curve and bump against his own, filling him with deep desire for her, as he poured himself into the kiss. Sliding his hands down her body, till he reached her bottom, Tristan lifted her slowly, till her hips were even with his own, and pressed her body between himself and the shower wall. Tristan groaned into the kiss as he let lose, allowing his hands to explore her form, more fully this time. He let his fingers graze her sides, all the way to her thighs, and moving inwards, gently rubbed the inside, one thigh at a time, while the other hand moved around to find other areas to pleasure her. Tristan was new to this yes, but he wasn't ignorant of what to do or how it all worked for goodness sake. He had to get to know Brooklyn's body. To discover those areas which built her up slowly and those ones that would send her over the edge. Why he was choosing to do this now, instead of waiting like he'd made up his mind to do many years ago, he didn't know. But he guessed it was just the fact that there seemed to be a need on both their parts to be closer and more intimate then ever before, so Tristan was going to let it happen, here and now.

( STATUS ) COMPLETE Brooklyn half heartedly shrugged. “that is usually true but in this case I don’t think it’s giving up unless I die a spinster. Then that’s considered giving up.” plus, Brooklyn had seen one too many times when a bride took over everything. It just wasn’t pretty. She had even seen brides come into pick out every part to the tuxes. The men all looked miserable. She’d rather plan something like this with Tristan. Besides, her family was fairly small. She had some distant cousins and great aunts and uncles but she really only wanted her parents, grandmother, aunt and her kids there. Of course sydni, jude, kylie, cameron, dominic and everleigh as well. That is if ever Leigh’s mom let her go to it wherever it may be. Those were her closest friends and she wanted them there. Hopefully her parents came around. If not Brooklyn really would be heart broken. Her eyes gazed over the ring for a moment. “I was thinking of getting one of those really long twenty-two or twenty-four inch chains. Keeping it tucked in my clothing. Just so I feel like I still have it on me.” well the first time meeting his friends would definitely be a night to remember.
Brooklyn snorted in amusement as she tilted her head to allow his lips to move over her jaw. “that is so not the only thing I’ve done wrong. I once hit his co’s car while learning to drive. I never saw so many men turn so many colors before.” that was one of her tamer escapades. She sighed with his words. Well those words mixed with his actions of kissing the parts of her body he had easy access to was not fair at all. “it’s not what I want but it’s the only way he’ll realize he needs to change. I mean when we have kids I don’t want him being this way. I understand he has built his life in the military but it’s hurting his family. I’m tired of how he treats me when I don’t do things up to his standards. I’m not the perfect marine soldier like he is. He can’t expect me to.” Brooklyn had no issues cutting her father out until he came to his senses. Her mother would be difficult but she had a feeling the two would still talk. She didn’t seem too upset after Brooklyn told her it had nothing to do with sex since they hadn’t even done anything at that point.
She cupped both hands around his neck. “this is my life-our life. He cannot dictate what I can and cannot do anymore. Who I fell in love with and want to marry and start a family with. If he doesn’t like then, no, I have no problems. I’m tired of being treated like I’m dirt by my own father. Yes it’ll be hard not seeing my mom but I have a feeling she’ll get over the shock soon and be happy for us.” her thumb traced along his jaw as she looked into his eyes. “I know people will always find some reason to tear me done I’m just tired of my father being the one to do it.”. Still, Brooklyn felt at ease knowing that she had so many people who thought better of her now. They got to see the real Brooklyn. That’s rally what mattered. One day her father would see it. She just hoped it wasn’t too late at that point.
Brooklyn hadn’t expected him to deepen the kiss quite like he did. Then again everything about this morning had been unexpected. Between the proposal, the fight with her parents(ok not that unexpected) to him getting into the shower with her. Everything was moving so quickly despite time feeling like it was standing still. Brooklyn wasn’t sure whether to try to stem the flow of things. All she knew was it felt good to be this close to him. Everything she felt was a whole new level then when she had been with anyone else. Se knew it was because she was in love with Tristan, truly and deeply so. Having that kind of love made everything feel so much better. She let out a pant as he pulled her upwards and pinned her against the shower wall. The cool tile against her warm skin increased the intensity of the moment as his hands moved along her form. Brooklyn pressed herself fully against him as her hands went down the length of his arms and then back up again before she kneaded at his shoulders momentarily.
She groaned into their passionate kissing as his hands moved lower. The way he gripped at her thigh felt amazing, had her wanting him to inch closer. But his other hand seemed hesitant as he moved to discover what she liked. Not that she didn’t enjoy it because it was evident with the way her body squirmed against his as she moaned. Her hands traveled down his sides to grip just above his bottom as she pulled their bodies in closer. Tristan’s slender but slightly muscular body pressed against her own soft one. While one hand remained along his lower back the other moved so her fingertips explored the planes of his abdomen. One wouldn’t know how solid of a form he had when just looking at him. Not every muscle was sculpted but Tristan was Brooklyn’s undoing. He was stirring a flame in her that licked her whole body. She wanted him to feel that. Her hand slowly traveled until she reached his most sensitive area and worked to bring him the pleasure he was stirring in her.
well then, we went way off course with these two |

Tristan nodded when Brooklyn said she wanted to get a long chain. that's a good idea....We can go to my jewelers' today if you want. They're very private...won't release their client list or go to the media today who bought what piece for who. The "secret" of their engagement would be safe with them. That's why Tristan and his family had always used them. They liked their large purchases like engagement rings and the like to be kept private.
Oh but that wasn't your fault. Tristan said about her hitting the car. So see, as I was saying, that's the only thing you've done wrong. Tristan nuzzled into her ack, squeezing her gently. You're an angel....my angle. He kissed her lovingly. And you always will be. And he meant it. Tristan cherished Brooklyn like no other person on earth possibly could. He truly loved and adored her. I'm not going to let him bully you or our children. Tristan said seriously.I know he's a marine and all that Brooklyn...But he doesn't scare me one bit....Bully's are just bully's and the minute you stand up to them on an issue, they cave. So yeah, Brooklyn's dad wasn't your average "bully". But the same principals applied.
I know it hurts though sweetheart. Tristan stroked her long locks of wet hair. We'll get through it though darling. Together, they were strong. They could accomplish anything they put their minds to. Tristan wanted Brooklyn to know that he supported her no matter what anyone else said or did and he always would. When you loved someone, you stuck by them. Innocent until proven guilty. If she was accused of murder Tristan would defend her to the bitter end. He was the kind of person that refused to think ill of someone until he saw the evil thing they were doing with his own two eyes. Giving the benefit of the doubt was something his grandmother had instilled in him and Oliver.
Tristan groaned as they explored one another's forms. He could feel Brooklyn's hand moving about him. She was driving him crazy in the best way ever, especially when her hand reached his most sensitive area. His body thrust against her. The heightened senses, the fire burning within him was new and special and exciting. Tristan was glad he had never done this with another woman. That Brooklyn was that first and most special person he could experience this with. A small part of him still felt like he should have waited until their wedding night. But this moment and seemed to needed and right to pass by easily.
Tristan continued to support her body, as he discovered the parts of her body that gave the most exhilarating sensations. He worked slowly and gently, not wanting to be one of those guys that had sex only to pleasure themselves, not caring whether or not the woman was satisfied. When the time was right and the pressure and desire too much to withstand, Tristan moved within Brooklyn, her head back and the moans that escaped, spurring him on until their bodies met their height.
Slowly, Tristan released her legs, until her feet touched the floor once again. His hands moving from her thighs to her middle. Tristan continued to hold her close, her hot skin a comfort against his own as he tried to catch his breath. Brooklyn's own most breath hit his skin, seemingly caressing it. Tristan hoped he had done well for her. He had tried not to show the fact that he had been a bit nervous, or make the mistakes that a novice might be inclined to commit. Tristan didn't want any area of their relationship to be lacking, but especially the most intimate and arguably most important area. I love you. He breathed, as he kissed her cheek, then pulled away and smiled at her, his hands rubbing up and over the edge of her shoulders repeatedly.

( STATUS ) COMPLETE “It’d be nice to go today but if we have a busy day I don’t want to risk being late anywhere.” Brooklyn stared at the ring another moment as she bit down on her lip before she went to stare back up at Tristan. He was too good to her and willing to bend over backwards for anything. He was much more soft spoken then her and had a heart so full of love and understanding. Her own had hardened over the years but slowly he was shipping away at the walls. He was also getting to be a better person-one not as crude and who could restrain herself in public.
“It’s the point of the matter, Tristan. There are a whole slew of things I’ve messed up on and yet he pulls out that one part of my life as if it explains everything I am doing wrong.” Brooklyn pouted slightly, even as he pressed his face into her neck. She wasn’t sure whether to cry or smile as the words he began to utter to her. She wanted to tell Tristan it really was pointless in standing up to her father but she was growing weary of discussing her family. If her father didn’t come around, it wouldn’t be her problem. In a few days she’d apologize for the things she said but his had been a lot worse. Call it selfish but she really did expect an apology because everything he had said was completely uncalled for in every way. Those thoughts were slowly leaving her body as Tristan pushed her hair back and pressed a kiss to her lips. “I know we will. I just really hope he comes around before he misses out on some important moments in my life. After I all, I only want to walk down that aisle once.”
Not matter what happened down the line with them, Tristan would be the only one for her. She couldn’t imagine anyone else in her future. If fate were cruel and took them from one another, she’d hope he could move on but knew she never would. Tristan had entwined himself into the very core of her being. His grip was strong and welcoming so it wouldn’t loosen so easily. For that Brooklyn was thankful. Slowly he was filling the empty corners of her mind and heart where he would forever stay.
Brooklyn knew Tristan was a virgin so she was a little surprised he had started things off here. With how he pressed her to the wall, she had a feeling they weren’t moving from this spot. In knowing he had never been with another girl, Brooklyn had originally planned to do something special. Call it cheesy or unnecessary but her first time hadn’t been and she regret edit immensely. She didn’t want Tristan to feel like he had to do this, basically being forced, but it was hard for her to think in this close of proximity to him. As his hands ran over her every curve. The rise and fall of her chest became heavy as her breaths were parted every once in awhile a soft groan left her lips. Tristan seemed to move with ease in discovering what Brooklyn liked and it was evident just in looking over her entire body.
Brooklyn worked along him as she scattered kisses and gentle nips(not enough to leave a mark) along his shoulders. Quickly the attempts of littering his skin with pecks was abandoned as she gripped his shoulders and leaned her cheek against his own. They both moved until the had gone over their peaks and back down. Brooklyn didn’t release her tight grip right away. She let her nerves, her heart and her breathing settle as she remained close to him. Whimpers of protest left her lips as he helped moved her so she could stand. She could’ve used her legs to pull him closer but didn’t, instead doing as he pleased. If he wanted to be untangled form Brooklyn for now then she would do so.
At least he didn’t break their embrace. She lined pecks along his chest and shoulder as she took in the moment. Her hands ideally drew paths where her mouth didn’t press a kiss to as she wondered what he was thinking. Did he regret his first time being so...careless like this in the shower? Or did he enjoy it? She smiled as she felt his lips on her cheek. “I love you too Tristan. Very much so.” As she pressed back against the shower wall again, she stared up at the man who owned her heart while her hands now traced paths along his arms.
Brooklyn chuckled as her shoulders relaxed under his touch. “If you keep doing that we’ll never leave this place and we’d miss everything we have to go to.” Not like she cared about doing any of those things but the were important to Tristan which is what mattered. Brooklyn reached to shut the show off before she leaned forward and wrapped her arms around his neck. She pressed a searing kiss to his lips which she deepened despite the chill coming over her damp skin. When she pulled from him a coy smile formed as he moved to get them each their towels. As they each dried themselves, Brooklyn couldn’t help but reach to graze his hand or to press a kiss somewhere on his body. Be it his shoulders, cheek, lips or hand.
As they each finished drying off, she heard Tristan’s phone go off. While it was no longer as early as it had been, he never even got work calls at this time which meant it had to be his grandmother or Oliver. But it had ot be three or four in the morning in Maine so there wasn’t that much of a chance of it being him unless he worked the late shift. As Brooklyn brushed her teeth and then combed out her hair, she heard Tristan talking in a hushed tone that sounded uneasy. Still, she remained in the bathroom until he ceased his conversation. By then she had started to put on her facial moisturizer and was about to do her make-up but decided to wait.
Brooklyn was still only in her towel as she hadn’t wanted to come into the bedroom while he was on the phone. As she left the bathroom, she grabbed her robe and slipped it on over that before she reached to undo the towel. Tristan’s back was to her but she could tell something was wrong. Cautiously she went up to him. She set a hand on his arm as she moved to stand in front of him. “Is everything ok?” Brooklyn had an uneasy feeling in the pit of her stomach. Something was terribly wrong. Had something happened to his grandmother? No-he’d be way worse then this. Same if it was Oliver. Tristan seemed like he was tense and uneasy about something, not sad. Brooklyn wanted to shake this bad feeling but she couldn’t. “Tristan whatever it is you can tell me, love.” She hoped she could ease whatever worries he might have of telling her what was bothering him.
well then, we went way off course with these two |

Tristan smiled at her and kissed the tip of her nose. We'll make time. He assured her. Tristan could imagine that it was disappointing not to be able to wear it about. Generally when woman got engaged, they were excited and wanted to show it off. But in this case, it was better to keep it to themselves for the time being. The less media involvement the better. Besides there were already pictures of them scattered about on the rag magazines with headlines such as "Tristan's Mysterious Lady Friend" and "Fortune Hunter or True Lover?" and a slew of other silly things. He enjoyed keeping them all guessing. Tristan couldn't wait to see what they said when he and Brooklyn showed up as man and wife later in the year.
There wasn't much more Tristan could say on the subject of Brooklyn's father. He didn't know why the man wouldn't stop bringing up the one particular mistake to Brooklyn. Perhaps it was just the only thing he had that he knew would hurt her. Hun, people get mad and they turn to the first, maybe the only thing, they have on that other person, that will hurt them. That's probably why. I dunno....Have you tried talking to him about it. Maybe if he knew exactly what it was doing to your relationship, he would stop or at least try to do better. Tristan wasn't sure he was being much help. He was trying though.
Tristan groaned as moved about him, nipping and kissing, sending unimaginable sensations through his body. His heart raced as he exerted himself, doing his best to please Brooklyn. He felt as though he couldn't get close enough to her, The need he felt for Brooklyn couldn't seem to be filled. Tristan wanted to hold her close like this and never let go, to never stop making love to her. To pleasure her in her every moment, to spend every last breathe of his life making her happy and satisfied.
Maybe that's what I'm trying to do. Tristan said in a soft, sensual tone, as he stroked her cheek and nipped her bottom lip sweetly. If they hadn't had things to do, Tristan really would have kept her here all day. He didn't want to go to the rehearsal or out. But he didn't have a choice. West End was his job and he couldn't call off sick like other people could. No matter what state he was in, Tristan had to be there for rehearsals. He'd gone to rehearsals with the flu before. Fortunately he didn't sick very often.
Tristan watched Brooklyn's movements as she shut off the water and moved to get their towels. He didn't take his eyes off her as they dried off. Her every movement excited him. Tristan really felt like he should get back in and take a cold shower! Tristan responded to her every touch, willingly returning her every graze and kiss. Gosh he loved this wonderful, amazing, woman.
Tristan heard his phone go off and wanted to ignore it. But something was nagging at him, telling him he should at least check to see who it was. Going into his bedroom, Tristan lifted the phone from the bed. He saw that it was Oliver. Hello! He said, smiling. Tristan always enjoyed hearing from his brother. Plus he had big news to tell him. He and Brooklyn were ENGAGED!! But before he could have a chance to tell him, Oliver delivered some news of his own. Not good news either. Alright...yeah....I'll tell her...You should try and get some sleep somewhere in there. You're no good to anyone if you're exhausted. Tristan said goodbye and hung up with his brother.
Tristan turned around to see Brooklyn standing there looking concerned. Tristan bit his lip and sighed. He hated to have to deliver bad news. Though it wasn't as bad as it could have been. When she asked if everything was okay, Tristan shook his head in the negative and ran his hands through his hair. When she said he could tell her he shrugged and sighed again. Where...there's been an accident....several accidents actually....Someone tampered with a bunch of cars, cut the break lines or something....Anyways some people are hurt....some are dead....Jude Winslet is in a coma...And Dominic and Everleigh and his sister Summer were pretty banged up. But they're all alive and stable...Oliver said you should know, but to tell you not to hop of the first plane back or anything. Everything is under control now. And he called over to your grandmothers and she's fine. Tristan knew she'd been shaken up about Dom and his family. He waked over and wrapped his arms around her, and kissed her shoulder, rubbing his hand up and down her back.

( STATUS ) COMPLETE See? Tristan was just too perfect for Brooklyn. It broke her heart and made it swell in happiness all at once. Mainly it broke her heart because she only hoped to be that kind of girl for him. It’s why she was so willing to do whatever he needed when they left his home. And why she had no issues keeping things about them under wraps. Not that she was close enough to anyone in England to spill anything. And she certainly didn’t feel like telling any of the paparazzi. Oh it would be so amusing when they came back to London as a married couple. Hopefully by then her father moved past things because frankly it was putting a kink into things. “Yes we’ve talked about it several timesb ut I hasn’t gotten through. He’s much more stubborn then I am. That’s the marine way for you.” Brooklyn mumbled out the last part. She didn’t hate the military but she hated how her father acted.
Tristan was the opposite and Brooklyn was so very thankful for that. They two were molding together so very well. Some people might have been surprised about them being together but she brushed them off. In this case opposites attract worked out. Brooklyn was even content on waiting until he was ready which she was sure would’ve surprised people if she told them but she didn’t. dominic would probably crack some joke and kylie…actually she’d be supportive. And Brooklyn as so glad they had waited, even if it was still technically “early” for them but it was different now with them being engaged. Even waiting the few weeks they did heightened everything. This moment was just sex-it really was making love though the shower might seem like an odd place to do so. Brooklyn let everything she felt for Tristan fall out in the moments entwined with him. Brooklyn wished she could take back every moment with every guy before but she couldn’t. now all she could do was give Tristan every part of her in their life together. He truly owned her heart and everything that came with it. That’s what made this time with him incredible.
Brooklyn chuckled as she rubbed her nose against his own. “if only.” a shiver on joy and pleasure went down Brooklyn’s spine. While she was used to being with men, everything with Tristan really was different. She craved his touch much more and just wanted to be near him in general. Even if they didn’t do this often, she was ok as long as she got to be near him. Luckily hey would get that often. Being married and her moving to London would give them all the time in the world. Brooklyn really couldn’t wait for that day to come along. And the fact he was thinking this summer made her happy because she didn’t have to wait long to be mrs. Tristan welcott. Just the thought of it put a silly grin on her face.
If only that thought could protect her from all the bad that today was raining down.
As Brooklyn listened to Tristan she began to feel sick to her stomach and lightheaded. She actually wavered on her feet and Tristan had to reach out for her. “oh my god…” Her breathing became shallow as tears threatened to spill over. She didn’t stop the salty tears from falling. She had grown up around jude’s family and dominic was one of her two best friends. “I have to call dominic. No not now, when it’s morning in maine. I have to check up on him and everleigh. Oh god everleigh, she’s only three! My little princess.” Brooklyn welcomed Tristan wrapping his arms around her as she cried against his chest. Her friends were hurt and she was thousands of miles away unable to do anything about it.
When Brooklyn pulled away from Tristan, she felt a little numb. Today was supposed ot be a happy one for them-they were engaged. Now it was riddled with hatred where there should be love and tears of sadness where there should be tears of joy. “I think outside of your grams, oliver, my grandmother, tom and chesney we shouldn’t tell anyone else about the engagement. When I go home I’ll tell my friends once I know how they’re all doing.” Brooklyn wanted to shout it from the rooftops that she was engaged to Tristan but she didn’t think it would be fair at this time. She wanted all the focus on her friends and them healing.

I may be a little looney by the end of the night since I’ll need a ton of coffee to function.” avoiding things was a terrible habit of Brooklyn’s but she was trying to do better.
