HISTORY OVERVIEW,

There has never been a family more fitting to the American dream than the Monroe’s. Sierra Monroe and her husband worked very hard to get where they are currently at. His mother is the CEO of one of the most well-known companies in Savannah, GA and his mother’s husband is a brain surgeon. Before we continue with this story, we must go back. As you can tell, Sierra Monroe’s husband is NOT Cohen’s father. Never will be, either. No, Cohen’s father is Anthony Tyler. Anthony happens to be from Hope Harbor, Maine. Sierra was vacationing in Maine for three months when she met Anthony, and it was love at first sight. Of course, her father persisted she return home to Savannah and marry Victor Monroe. Long story short, Sierra left Anthony – but only after he found out she was pregnant with his child and was already engaged to another man. Anthony did his best to persuade Sierra – however, she did as her father wished. She returned home, confessed to Victor, and they married. Victor chose to look over her infidelity, as he had already had a few himself (and she knew about them, of course). On the birth certificate, it says that Cohen’s father is Victor – and so he has Victor’s last name.

After Cohen was born – Victor and Sierra popped out two more kids – Leo and Savannah. Shortly after the initial delight at their healthy children wore off, Victor became more absorbed in work than ever, and Sierra sort of struggled to keep up. The first step to distancing themselves from her children was to hire a nanny, who was really just a substitute mother to the little things. This set the tone for much of Cohen’s childhood; his father figure working and his mother pretending to care, more interested in her image (and therefore the company’s image) than actually living up to it for real. When Cohen went to Abraham Lincoln elementary, Sierra joined the PTA and held all sorts of fund-raising events and the like. She built quite the reputation for herself, though it was entirely superficial. She spent little to no time with her children, and then even less with her husband. Despite this distance, Cohen believes he’s had a decent upbringing. Privileged is the term often coined with him, and it’s true. He lived in a large house with furniture that cost as much as five years rent in a flat on a good side of town.

he had friends at school in similar situations and all the toys and such he could ever wish for, though you take these things for granted when you've had them all your life. Cohen isn’t really a spoilt brat though – as he learned, money can’t buy you happiness or love. He realized this – with the help of his nanny, Helga. if his parents feel guilty they don't show it, too absorbed in pretending like they care in public and holding the business up, keeping the money rolling in and keeping Cohen out of trouble. of course they don't do the latter; how could they? they never have any idea where he is or what he's doing, and they never have particularly noticed this – not that Cohen is a troublemaker.

When he turned eighteen – before he graduated, his biological father got in contact with him. Anthony wasn’t a poor man at all – he’d made his fortune in his lobster business as well as family owned lobster restaurant. Anthony begged to see the boy – and so they met. It was a shock to Cohen realizing that the man he’d called “Father” wasn’t his father after all – but it brought Cohen some peace. He had always known something wasn’t right. So, he informed his mother and Victor that as soon as he graduated – he was moving to Maine to get a better education and to be with his father. Over the months that passed and lead up to Graduation, Cohen spent the majority of his time getting to know his little sister from his father – Izabella. She is two years younger than Cohen, and he is closer to her than anyone else in his life. Upon receiving his acceptance letter to Penobscot Community College and after graduating, Cohen packed his life up, and headed to Maine with his 250,000 dollar graduation gift from his maternal grandparents. He was certain to start fresh and begin a new life – a whole life. He plans on filling the void that he’s felt forever.

Now that he’s twenty years old, he’s been in Hope Harbor for a little over a year, and so far.. things are going well.
