keep your head down, my life is a warzone Kyle sat by the water, a blunt in his hand as he held in the smoke and would then release it. His mom was at work after getting back from the weekend with that piss head of a father of his. It had been a couple days since his drunken revelation to his “brother”. his truck had since been fixed and parked in the driveway while he had yet to hear a peep from Liam. School today had been nothing but pointless, per usual. He wished he could just fast forward the next two years. He’d drop out if it was even an option but for him it wasn’t. besides, at least there were a couple people there he didn’t mind terribly. They made the day fairly enjoyable. And they helped him get some of the good stuff. His friend Jackson ahd the best hook ups for such things. He walked away some with some decent stuff today.
Once he was finished, Kyle was feeling a bit better about things though not a hundred percent awesome. He was more relaxed which was good. He walked into the house and washed up his face and hands in case his mom came home. He stripped off his school clothes and threw one some terry cloth shorts and a tee. He used flip flops to walk around the house as his foot was messed up and it hurt to walk barefoot. There was one ring on his left thumb and another on his right ring finger. His right hand gripped the fridge and yanked it open. He grabbed a bottle of Mountain Dew before he went to the living room and sprawled out on the couch. He channel surfed until he found something he enjoyed.
With one hand tucked under his head, he watched the highlights of this weekends games. He’d take a drink of the soda every once in awhile. Eventually he’d get ot his schoolwork but not yet. Not like he cared about his grades-he had no plans to go to college. Kyle’s phone went off and he checked the message. From his mom. She was going out to have dinner with some friends. Not bothering to respond he tossed it aside thinking he wouldn’t be bugged further. Nope-there was a knock on the door. For the most part he ignored it but when they continued, he decided it was time to get up and tell them to screw off.
”Hold on!“ was yelled out by Kyle as he sat up. With quick movements, he was off the couch and headed to the door. When he opened it up he scoffed and leaned against the door frame. ”What the hell do you want?” He nodded his head in gesture to the man before him known as his brother. To Kyle it was only by blood-he could care less about having a brotherly bond with the man.

Liam said flatly ad rolled his eyes before shaking his head at the kid. Do you enjoy being a jerk so much, that you can't even answer the door politely? Liam asked, sounding a bit irritated. He didn't appreciate disrespect in any form. I came to see how things came out with the truck....And I thought...maybe we could just hang out sometime. Liam shrugged, still standing on the doorstep and wondering if he was ever to be invited in. [/ul] I'm too lazy to find a template and pic right now. lol

keep your head down, my life is a warzone
Kyle hadn’t gone to seek out his brother for any kind of “connection”. he’d rather just let everything be. It was out in the universe that he existed and their father was a scumbag. Really, that’s all that mattered. So he was thoroughly surprised to see the man here. After last time he figured Liam would clearly stay far away from here. After all, Kyle made it known he was not on the train for brotherly love. Did the guy change his mind on paying for the windows? Well he’d be waiting a little while for that money. Kyle had spent out everything to fix his car windshield so he was flat broke. He had no desire to run to the pawnshop to sell some stuff off when he just got out of school. That would be bogus.
Kyle raised a brow and scoffed. ”You are the worlds ugliest girl scout, that’s for sure.” Kyle had no problem throwing insults or speaking his mind. Most of the people in his life didn’t care and the ones who did, truthfully, didn’t matter all that much. Liam didn’t matter. They were only related by blood-nothing more. In a couple years Kyle would be graduating high school and get out of this awful town. The idea of joining a fishing boat still sounded good. Perhaps he’d drive down the coast and find a job on a baot somewhere else. Or an oil rig. Something not in Maine and didn’t require a college degree because Kyle did not have any ambitions to go to college. He didn’t really have any ambitions to work either but would if he absolutely had to. Right now he had no reason to. His mother gave Kyle all the money he needed for gas and repairs on his truck plus whatever he wanted. Mainly hush money so he’d stop making comments about what she did with his father.
Kyle shrugged as he leaned against the door frame and crossed his arms. One leg moved so his ankles crossed as he leaned there. ”Eh anyone who matters doesn’t really care.” Kyle pulled his brows inwards as he gave Liam a look that said ‘really?’ He motioned his head towards his truck that was in the driveway and clearly visible. ”One, the truck is fine. Two, why would you want to hang out? According to you I enjoy being a jerk so unless you’re a jerk too then you won’t enjoy my company. Nor would I enjoy yours.”

He said, looking his younger brother in the eyes. Maybe if kyle knew there was someone out there that really cared for him, someone that was willing to be there for him, someone he could turn to when there were problems in his life, or he just needed someone to talk to or vent to, it would make a difference for him. If Liam and his mother didn't have each other, things would have been even rougher on them. Having each other and knowing that they really loved one another and would do anything for each other, made a difference in both of their lives. Kyle was the kind of kid that hadn't learned to let go of his stupid pride though. So he would probably try to act like Liam caring didn't make a difference to him. And maybe it wouldn't. But he was going to try his darnedest. Running his hand through his hair, Liam bit his lip and shook his head, laughing cynically. You want me to be a jerk? I can be the biggest jerk on this planet, if I want to be... aside for their dad of course. But that's not the way I do things....Despite having the worlds biggest ass for a father, I was raised right. My mom did right by me. And I know you've got a chip on your shoulder about dad and your mom. But acting the way you do, is ridiculous. Make something of yourself in spite of them. Dad treats you the way he does, because he thinks you don't want to be anything in life. Well prove him wrong, whatever you want to be. Just prove him wrong. Kyle could overcome all this if he wanted to. And Liam thought the kid probably did, just maybe didn't know how to. Perhaps egging him to make something out of himself to spite their dad, would kick start him. Sighing, Liam waved his hand in the air and turned around to head for his car. No he didn't think Kyle was a completely hopeless case. But he was hoping maybe if he just turned away from the little dick, Kyle would stop him. Yeah, he was taking a risk that some reverse psychology would work its magic here. Kyle might have thought he was the smartest kid in the room all the time, but he wasn't. The world would teach him that lesson before Liam could, if things kept on the way the were. [/ul]

keep your head down, my life is a warzone Kyle was not a nice guy. He knew that. He never pretended to be anything else, not even to girls. Everyone thought Jackson was bad with his womanizing. Kyle may not have as many girls in his back pocket but he could be just as cruel if not more so when it came to them. he hardly ever went back to a girl more then once while Jackson was known to. He didn’t do that much to make them feel at ease. Sure he made it so it was pleasurable for them both but that was about it really. Kyle was selfish and mean and he didn’t care. He was a product of his environment.
Another scoff left Kyle’s lips. Like Liam really cared. He probably just cared that his mommy dearest didn’t find out about the unwanted love child. No Kyle wasn’t that heartless. His hole body was rigid not form fear or tension but of his natural state as he watch Liam go off the rails a little. That was an amusing sight. Kyle rolled his eyes before he tilted his head from one side to the other. ”Ah your mom cared. Don’t you feel special?” Kyle’s arms remained crossed as he continued to stare at Liam. Wow, psycho-analyze much? Obviously he had worse daddy issue then Kyle did. At least Kyle could accept their father was a Grade A pain in the behind. Liam was proving to be one as well.
Kyle moved from door further onto the porch to lean against the porch railing as Liam walked towards his overly expensive sports car. Unnecessary things to spend money on, really. ”Seriously, why do you even care? If you don’t want me to tell that precious mother of yours I won’t but I seriously don’t get when you’re coming here, saying you care and telling me to make something of yourself. Is this a guilt thing? A pity thing? I don’t need your damn pity.”

Liam shrugged a little, not really caring what his younger brother thought of him or his answer. Liam wasn't trying to instigate with his reply, he was just being perfectly honest. His mother was a very special woman, the best woman he'd ever known actually. Liam was truly honored to be her son. To have had her guidance and influence in his life. Liam was hoping he could pass on some of her wisdom and influence to Kyle and one day, if he should be so lucky, his own family. You're right...I don't want you to tell my mom, because I'd rather she hear it from me. Liam answered honestly. As for why I care....I guess the answer is, I don't really know. It's not out of pity, and it's certainly not out of guilt. I mean, come on, I didn't make you, why would I feel guilty about you? Liam asked, but meant it more as a rhetorical question. I just...I always wanted a younger brother....I used to beg my parents when I was a kid. I used to dream about it. Liam continued to explain. I never liked being an only child....And then I come to find out that I do have the younger brother that I always wanted...I just didn't know he existed....I dunno....I just can't let it pass by without being able to say i trie my darnedest to be part of your life, no matter how big or how small. Liam shoved his hands deep into his pockets and shrugged. He wasn't sure exactly how Kyle was going to take what he'd said, but he hoped well. Liam thought it was pretty cool that he had a brother, though the circumstances weren't ideal. But he still had that Apple Pie Image of them going to ball games together and getting together for guys night, The Godfather, Pizza, and Beer (of course, Liam wouldn't advocate underaged drinking, though he'd done it himself once or twice. But no one knew except him, because he'd done it alone and on the quiet. Liam had pretty much kept a clean nose most of his life. Sure he made the typical mistakes that every kid did. But no major blunders. I'm not saying we have to be all buddy, buddy or best friends or anything....I'm just saying that it'd be kinda nice to hang out now and again. Get a pizza, watch a movie...I dunno...go to a ball game? Liam threw it out there just to see what the kid would say. Anyways, take it or leave it...your choice man. Liam unlocked his car and started to get in.[/ul]

keep your head down, my life is a warzone ”you’re right about that one,” kyle scoffed out. He knew his mother cared in a way but not the best way. She had her head so far up in the clouds whenever his-their-dad was around that she hardly noticed anything else. She claimed time with “the love of her life was precious” and that “he was able to take care of himself” so she spent time with him. Yeah, right. Kyle knew she had never wanted to get pregnant. Children had never been in the cards. Somewhere he felt a part of his mom resented him a bit. She had come in and made her spend countless nights awake because he had colic and was just generally fussy. And that just carried over into his life these days as well. Oh well.
Kyle shrugged. He had no plans to tell liam’s mother. Liam when in a drunken rage, sure. The wife of his philandering father? No. that was just low. At least kyle had enough respect not to sink that low. Then again, liam didn’t know that. Liam also didn’t know kyle very well. His little heartfelt speech wouldn’t turn kyle that quickly. Then again, kyle had always been jealous about liam. He had known about him for years and wished he could’ve talked to him. Back before he stopped caring about things in general. Kyle wouldn’t let on that easily. Why should he? Not like anyone else had cared at this point. Liam would see that kyle was just a little shit head and then walk away. Most people did aside from his best friend Jackson and some girl that hung around them now. The preacher’s girl who ironically was with a chick. The little band of misfits that no one understood. Kyle didn’t even understand it.
But he digresses.
”a ball game? Baseball is boring.” kyle was letting his attitude and pride get in the way too much. He was not going to run over and stop liam from leaving. With a sigh he straightened his body, no longer leaning against the railing. ”I’m going to go watch the highlights from the soccer games. You can come if you want or whatever.” kyle left the door open but that was all he was giving for an invitation. He didn’t even know why he was doing this much was the thought going through his head as he settled down into the living room. He slumped back against the couch and reached for his can of mountain dew, sipping form it as he unmated the television.
