WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN EVEN ANGELS THINK YOU DESERVE TO DIE
IT'S been four months since John Winchester made “the deal of the century”: give his life to save his eldest son. Since then, the demons have all but vanished, with demonic activity reaching an all-time low. The demonic omens disappeared, the freak news stories ceased, and the few who were wise enough to know what was going on slipped back an uneasy calm. It seemed that, once again, the Yellow-Eyed demon was gone, taking nearly all demonic activity with him. Things slowly went back to business as usual for most hunters, and no one – save those directly affected – thought much of it.
Yet, all is not well. Everyone knows that the calm always precedes the storm, and that’s exactly what happened. After John Winchester’s soul was taken to hell, a plan was set in motion, one that was thousands of years in the making. As he fell, three powerful demons rose, intent on releasing Lucifer from the Cage that God had built for him, and bringing about the apocalypse.
For their plan to work, however, they require a vessel for their fallen brother. No ordinary human will do, as angels require special hosts. In accordance with this plan, Azazel set about creating several 'children.' Ranging in age now from 17 to 25 these 'children' were gifted with demon blood when they were only six months old, and now each has grown. Some are unaware of their gifts, some have embraced them, and some have gone mad - but all hold the potential of being a vessel for Lucifer himself.
The arch angels, the four guardians of heaven, are aware of this - and do not care. In their eyes mankind as a whole has slipped below the realm of what is salvageable and the only way to fix this is by allowing the demons to purge the earth before saving those who survive. The apocalypse is, in their eyes, nothing more than a much-needed restart.
Of course the battle isn't quite as simple as just angel against demon, or angel and demon against mankind. Not all angels feel that humans need to be tested by fire, and not all demons believe that Lucifer is their savor.
Civil war doesn't even begin to describe the chaos beginning to set in.
