[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-image:url(http://i56.tinypic.com/2zgu9hc.jpg); width: 440px; padding-top:10px;]the girl in the moon --- Lexi loved and loathed twelve hour shifts. She loved them because it kept her mind off the fact March 27th was creeping up very fast. Ever since Dean’s death, dealing with the anniversary of their son’s heartbreaking birth was even harder on her. Sure Daniel could be there for her and say he understood but he didn’t. He may have been in the delivery room as support but he wasn’t the parent of that child. He really didn’t know. And she also was glad to get out of her and Daniel’s house. Since him and Leila got back form their honeymoon they were acting very much like newlyweds. Everywhere. Even if they weren’t having full blown sex Lexi caught them in many a heated moments. Talk about awkward. She figured they should enjoy their time together. If it wasn’t for Daniel’s other home having the carpets redo she’d go there. Maybe it was about time she finally gt her own place. Then again, she knew Daniel would try to stop her because he worried about her on her own.
Now there wasn’t too big of a reason to worry. Lexi had been sort of seeing someone. It wasn’t very serious but it had the potential to be. Lexi spent any moment they could each spare with one another. A good chunk of the time was spent locked up in his apartment under the sheets but they also went to do things. Earlier today they had gone to see the new Oz movie and gotten lunch. The only reason Daniel wasn’t interrogating this guy? It was Jayce Blackwell. Her late husband’s brother. And Daniel had no idea they did anything more serious they hang out as friends. He figured Jayce was respectful of the fact it was his dead brother’s wife. Which is why Lexi had sort of freaked out when it first happened. They had enjoyed dinner and been drinking beer. Lexi had always been a cuddly drunk so one thing just progressed and next thing she knew if she was waking up beside him. Jayce had calmed her down and said there was nothing wrong with the two of them being together in that sense. They agreed to just keep it casual for now since Lexi was unsure about any type of relationship. And casual it had been.
The two of them hanging out had drained her. She only got to sleep a few hours before work so when her lunch came at 2:30 in the morning, she decided to nap. She’d be able to scarf down a bagel when she woke up but Lexi wanted to sleep for most of her lunch. She checked her phone for any messages. There were some form Jayce she replied to and then a couple from Daniel asking Lexi to call him. She replied in telling him she was busy and they would talk when she got out of work. She shut her phone back off as she got to the nurses lounge. Nurses weren’t allowed in the on call rooms but there were a couple couches for them. Lexi sat at one and rubbed at her face. She really did need a nap. After she laid back she shifted so she laid on her side with her face towards the door. This late at night there were only about ten nurses in the whole building. Two of them she knew were heading home for their lunches to see heir spouses. One may end up coming in here but she had a feeling she’d sleep through it.
Without the main lights on, only a couple lamps, Lexi easily fell into a deep sleep. Her shoes remained on and she didn’t bother to undo the half braid, half messy bun she had going on. Both her phone and pager were on the floor beside the couch so she didn’t notice her phone continuing to light up as it silently went off. If anyone in the hospital needed her, they had her pager. Otherwise, everything else in her life could wait.

& I'll Be Happy For You tags;; Lexi/Daniel/Dean etc;; --
Oliver had been working day shifts at the hospital for quite a while now and was actually enjoying it. Things were challenging at times and he had his near breakdowns, privately of course (he hated for anyone to see him that way). But overall he was doing marvelously and felt better to be out working then cooped up in his apartment wallowing in self pity. Though no one could really blame him. He'd lost his wife. The woman he loved with everything he was. One day she was there and the next she wasn't. Lilian had died in his arms, at least that much was a bit of a comfort to him. He had stayed with her till the very end. Oliver had been the one that heard her last words, and felt her last, soft, breath against his skin.
Being well reacquainted with the workings of a hospital, and settled in nicely, Oliver had decided to switch to night shifts. There was more action at night and more people that needed his expertise. He found it odd how, as soon as it was dark, the injuries doubled or tripled in quantity. It seemed that after dark, everyone just turned really stupid or something. It was purely by coincidence that Oliver and Lexi ended up both switching to night shifts at the same time. Though most everyone at the hospital was convinced they were hiding something. Amusing rumors were circulating that the two were spending a lot of private time together outside of work. Which was simply not true, and thus why Oliver found it so entertaining. He as very happy that Lexi was working nights though. She was his preferred assistant. Always calm and cool as a cucumber, handled every situation with the grace and skill befitting her condition and even higher.
Oliver had just seen a patient and was filling out some charts in his office when he heard a knock on his door. Come in. He looked up to see Lexi's cousin Daniel walk in with another man whom Oliver recognized, but couldn't place. But what were they doing here in the middle of the night?! Suddenly, as he looked the other guy over, it dawned on him who the man was. Oliver unknowing did a double take. Daniel didn't have to say a work. Y-you're Dean...Lexi's husband Dean. Oliver stammered.
A mix of emotions ran through Oliver. Excitement and happiness for Lexi, nervousness over how she would react and what this would mean for her, and a tinge of jealousy. Her spouse was returning to her, where as his never could. It was heartbreaking really. Inside, it was tearing Oliver apart, already. But he hid it on the outside. Oliver would always hide this from Lexi. She deserved to have her husband back, she deserved to live a happy, long, and meaningful life with him. Lexi deserved this second chance.
Oliver was pulled from his inward thoughts when Daniel asked where Lexi was, explaining she hadn't been returning his calls. I uh...don't know...lets find out. He motioned for the two men to follow him. They went to the nurses desk and Oliver inquired after the nurse they were looking for. Jane said she was in the lounge on her lunch break. Oliver moved towards the lounge and reaching the door, he stopped before opening it and turned to the two men. Maybe I should go in and talk to her? Break the ice a little bit? Someone should warn her before she see's you Dean...I mean I know you want to see her more than anything...I would too. But it's going to be such a shock to her. When it was agreed upon that Oliver should talk to her first he nodded and quietly entered the room.
Oliver's eyes scanned the area till they fell upon Lexi sleeping on one of the couches. Grabbing a chair from one of the tables, he moved it in front of the sofa and sat down. Leaning forward, he very gently touched the woman's arm. Lex... he whispered. Lexi. He said in a very quiet voice, just above a whisper. Oliver watched as her eyes fluttered open and he smiled at her. He waited till she had assumed an upright position and became a little bit alert before broaching the subject.
Hoping Lexi wouldn't think it bold, Oliver took one of her small hand, closing it between both of hers and looked her in the eye rather seriously. Lexi...there's something I have to tell you. Something that is probably going to be a bit of a shock to you...So try not to freak out too much. Oliver laughed a little to try and lighten the mood. Breathing deeply, he decided to not to beat around the bush too much and pretty much come right out with it. It's Dean...you're husband....he's back. He braced himself for whatever her reaction would be.

once he'd been dropped off, he tried calling his wife, but was told he had the wrong number. dean tried a couple more times, deciding to give up and instead call his parents. they couldn't believe what they were hearing, and came to pick him up as soon as possible. they told him he'd been declared dead, and that he could stay with them for the time being. dean asked about lexi, of course, but they refused to give a straight up answer and he got frustrated. they didn't take him directly home, instead stopping at a few stores to get him some clothes. he had been given some from a few kind people on the liner, but they didn't fit the best. not that he was really worried about clothes at that time, but they insisted. so after about a half hour they finally started for the house, and he changed as soon as he got there. they had more running around to do, so dean took that opportunity to book a flight to the one place he knew she'd be. hope harbor.
as soon as he got off the plane he headed to daniel zakarian's, having thought up a game plan on the way. dean had explained what happened to him and that he wanted to see his wife, so they'd headed over to the hospital. daniel took him into one of the doctor's offices, apparently a close friend of alexandria's. before either of them could say anything, the guy recognized him. dean nodded. that's me, he replied, trying for a bit of a laugh, but it didn't sound much like one. he was anxious and a bit nervous to see his wife.
dean didn't say much, letting oliver and daniel do the talking, which was fine by him. soon they were following the doctor to the nurses desk to find out where lexi was. he was so eager to see her, he almost didn't stop when oliver did. he went to protest, then stopped as he thought it over. ok.. i guess you're right. as soon as he went in, dean went to the small window that was in the door, watching as he made his way over to her and woke her up. he couldn't bare to watch, though, and turned away, his hands going behind his head and lacing together as he paced back and forth.

How in the hell did Dean survive? He had been gone so long! What in the hell happened? When he showed up on his doorstep he just about fainted. Why? Well because he thought that the grim reaper was coming to take him away! When someone is dead and well coming for you that was normally a sign of death. He had reached out and poked Dean on the shoulder to make sure that he was real before looking up at him in shock. It was crazy and he still couldn’t believe it. You could bet your sorry ass though he got two punches. One for leaving Lexi and going sailing when there was a huge storm out at sea. The second was for missing his and Leila’s wedding day.
That was when he decided to call Oliver and tell him what was up as he made his way to the hospital with Dean in the car. If he knew his cousin she was either going to be really happy or she was going to freak out and pass out. This was going to have to be eased onto her. It would have to be done so subtly it wouldn’t be a shock for her. After the past six years the girl was finally going to have some happy news.
Arriving at the hospital he found Oliver and introduced him to Dean. This was going to be hard on Lexi. Maybe they should have waited until she was off work to do this. They could have done it when they were in the peace of the mansion and no one else was around. This way if she fainted he would be able to take her back to her room and put her to bed and continue the talk in the morning. When they finally located where Lexi was he nodded his head. “Dean you should stay out there while we go in and tell her.” His eyes narrowed as he looked at Oliver. Dumbass Lexi was his family and he was going to be in there and tell her too. If anyone had the right to tell her it was the man who was family.
Walking into the room he saw how beautiful she looked even while asleep. The poor girl was going to have a major shock to her system. Kneeling over the arm of the couch seeing as Oliver was taking up the whole front of the couch. Gently he stroked her hair back to hook on her air as he waited for her to wake up. Leaning in he gently whispered into her ear. “Lexus the dragons are coming to steal all your gold. You might want to wake up now.” Best way to wake up any D&D player when they fall asleep. If anything she’ll think she fell asleep in the middle of playing and he was doing it to wake her up.
When she started to stir he smiled and grinned. “Morning kiddo.” He grins as he moves to sit on the arm of the couch. The second Oliver blurted out that Dean was back and alive his hand actually came up and he face palmed before reaching over and slapping Oliver on the back of the head Gibbs style. Yes, he had been watching too much NCIS lately. “Didn’t I make it clear she needed to be eased into it?” Reaching down he gently took Lexi’s hand in his stroking the back of it with his thumb. “There was an island out near where Dean had gone too. It was close enough that he was able to swim to it and he took shelter there. No one even knew the island was out there until a cruise ship was passing by it and spotted a very large fire. They sent a boat on shore and well, that is where they discovered a camp where someone had been living…”

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-image:url(http://i56.tinypic.com/2zgu9hc.jpg); width: 440px; padding-top:10px;]the girl in the moon --- Lexi liked it when she fell asleep fast and got to sleep deeply. Especially when at work where it was hard to fall asleep no matter how exhausted you were. The couch in the nurses lounge were not that comfortable as they were a few years old but they worked. Her job was one where she was on her feet all day. Anyplace to put her feet up was a good place. Lexi wasn’t the only person to sleep in the lounge and probably wouldn’t be the last. In her opinion, though, the nurses should be allowed access to the on call rooms but that was another problem to take up another day. A day when she was functioning.
Lexi felt someone calling her name as they shook her. She groaned in her sleep as she swatted at them before she curled back up to sleep once again. She was well on her way back to being fully asleep when another familiar voice was in her ear. Oh, crap! She had fallen asleep in the middle of her game. Lexi opened her eyes to find that nope, it was not D&D night and that she was at work. So why was Daniel here. She rolled onto her back as she stared upa t her cousin. A displeased look overtook her features as she reached up to tap the side of his face. Not very hard, mind you, but enough to get her point across. ”Why must you be so annoying Danielle.” Lexi liked to call him that when particularly cross with him which she was right now.
Lexi stretched her arms above her head as she extended her body. Her whole body was stiff and the stretching helped out. While she sat up, she ground the sleep from her eyes with her right hand while Oliver reached for her left one. The eye she wasn’t rubbing peered open as she looked at him. ”Oliver if you’ve come to declare your love and ask for my hand in marriage, I think you’re getting a bit ahead of yourself. Though it would make everyone talk more.” Lexi laughed as she dropped her hand. Her gaze went between her coworker and her cousin. They both had very serious looks and her smile faltered as she listened to Oliver. Dean? No-it wasn’t possible. Dean had did. His sailboat got caught in a bad storm and he had died. It had been almost three years now. Lexi pulled her hand away from Olivier like she was touching a hot stove. ”No you’re wrong. You saw someone who looks like Dean which you could easily get confused about since you’ve only seen his photo a couple times. I think you need to get some sleep, Oliver. You’re seeing a mountain in a mole hill.”
Daniel hit Oliver while she was trying to get up but the men stopped her. Daniel now took her hand but had a firmer grip then Oliver. She started to get a tight feeling in her chest. Why were they saying this? It was cruel of them to give her hope! She had spent the last three years missing him terribly. Finally she pulled away from Daniel and didn’t hide how upset she was. Hot tears of anger sprang to her eyes while she moved away from them to the counter with the coffeemaker on it. ”No you two are wrong. I mean do you know how crazy that sounds? A random uncharted island that no one knew about? It sounds like something out of a bad soap opera.” Lexi was working ot poor her coffee in a cup while her hands shook. Her nerves were getting so bad she dropped the mug. ”Damn it!” Lexi felt one of her panic attacks coming on as she reached for some paper towels to clean up the ceramic shards and the coffee. She felt someone grip her arms to stop her and Lexi struggled against them.
”Let me go! You guys are wrong. You’re wrong. He’s dead! He’s dead! Everyone told me he was dead! You told me he was dead, Daniel!” Lexi’s breathing was becoming shallow and she couldn’t see through the tears that sprang to her eyes. Why were two men who supposedly cared about her doing this to her? Didn’t they know what this would do to her? Lexi needed her medication in her purse. She tried to yank away as she noticed movement outside the door form the corner of her eyes. Lexi didn’t want the whole hospital to know about her anxiety attacks or that she took medications. Some of the staff were notorious gossips and that could be them out there. That’s all Lexi needed on top of everything else that was going on this month.

& I'll Be Happy For You tags;; Lexi/Daniel/Dean etc;; --
Truth be told, Oliver had never been particularly good in these situations. He wasn't smooth like other people and in certain things, he just wasn't good at breaking news gently. This situation was no different. How exactly would one break the news that their friends "dead" spouse had come back, gently? Oliver didn't think it could be done. It would have just been one of those things where he hemmed and hawed and delayed until Lexi told him to spit it out. And Daniel probably still would have said that he was too blunt.
Oliver gave a fleeting smile when she said the bit about him declaring his love for her. Not him, no. But her long lost husband was sure to want to, and very soon. He could imagine how much Dean was longing to be near her, to hold her, to kiss her. Oliver was quite sure it was nearly the same longing that tugged at his own heart. Though his longing was much stronger than Deans, because his wife was still alive, where as Oliver would never get that chance with his wife again.
No sooner had Lexi pulled away, then had Daniel slapped Oliver in the back of the head. He was lucky Oliver wasn't quick to anger, or there might have been an issue. Instead he ignored Lexi's cousin and began to speak. Lexi...it's true. He said softly. Oliver just wanted to hug her and tell her it was all okay and that between the 4 of them, they would get everything figured out. But he could see right now, that she didn't want to be held. She was confused and scared and maybe a bit frustrated. Oliver remained quiet while Daniel explained just how everything had happened.
Oliver watched Lexi as she moved to poor herself a cup of coffee and ended up dropping the mug. Getting up, he approached her and gently pulled her back, despite her struggling, and took the towel from her. Oliver commenced cleaning up the mess while Daniel went about further comforting Lexi. Throwing away the paper towels and the pieces of ceramic, Oliver sighed a little. I know it's a lot for you to take in Lexi...But it's true...Daniel and I care about you....Why would we tell you this if it wasn't true...Besides, he's waiting in the hall and desperately wants to see you. Oliver stood there, arms crossed, looking down at the floor with a concerned expression on his face.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-image:url(http://i56.tinypic.com/2zgu9hc.jpg); width: 440px; padding-top:10px;]the girl in the moon --- Lexi was walking through a cloud of numbness at she at in front of Oliver and Daniel was beside her. Their faces were so grave despite giving her news that should be happy. Was Lexi happy? Right now she wasn’t sure. She felt more panicked then anything. She hadn’t even thought about Dean coming home in over a year. She had stopped wearing her wedding rings and changed her name. her gaze inadvertently went down to her hand to look at the empty ring finger. She had worn them so long that there was a little dip at the base of her finger where it met the rest of her hand. It wasn’t hard to imagine having her rings there again. And then a stab of guilt went through Lexi. She had given up on searching for him. Given up to the point of carrying on a relationship with his brother How awful was that? All these overwhelming thoughts is what brought what felt like the beginning of a panic attack.
After she broke the mug and Oliver began to pull her away she heard Daniel go to her locker and grab her purse. It wasn’t hard to figure out her combination-it was the same for everything which was the day she had gotten married. Daniel took over for Oliver in holding her after he forced her to take her pills and drink a little water. Lexi curled against her cousin as she tried to steady her breathing and listened to Oliver. She couldn’t look at her best guy friend as she processed the words. Dean…alive….Dean….in the hall.
Dean was in the hall?
It took a minute or two for it to click but when it did Lexi pushed away from Daniel. Her breathing had calmed and her anxiety medications had begun to kick in since they were fast acting. She felt the tingling beginnings of the comfortable numbness overcoming her. Daniel tried to stop her but she brushed him off before she yanked open the door and looked at the back of a familiar form. ”Dean?” When he looked at her Lexi let out a strangled cry and covered her mouth with both of her hands. She wasn’t sure what to be feeling right now as so many emotions swirled within her. Lexi refrained from just running up to him but instead cautiously approached him and placed her hand on his arm to make sure he was real and not some wonderful hallucination. From there her hand went to cup the side of his face a moment as a few tears escaped her eyes.
Lexi quickly pulled back before they could embrace one another. Lexi wasn’t ready yet. Not that she had stopped loving her husband because she still did. Even while with Jayce, or even another man if it hadn’t been him, Dean still occupied a part of her heart. Just she had thought him dead for three years and to be held by him would be overwhelming. Instead she went to Daniel who wrapped his own arm around her. ”Take me home, Daniel. Please just take me home.” Thankfully her coat and purse were in his hands and she gripped them to her chest as she tried to figure out all the emotions running through her.

Everything that was going on here was so much for his poor cousin. Apparently the people here didn’t understand that he knew his cousin better than any of them did. That was why he said to take it slow but apparently no one knew what that word meant but him. The way she had reacted to things when younger allowed him to figure out how she would react to things and something big like this was one of those things that he knew they needed to take their time with easing her into. When the glass broke he was going to clean it up but when Oliver did he leaned back and decided to go get Lexi’s things from her locker. It wasn’t like he spied on her but it was easy to know what her password was. Once in her locker he grabbed out her purse and her coat and held it gently while he looked at his cousin.
T-minus five minutes and counting. What was this all about? Easy. Someone was going to screw something up and he was going to have to get her out of there soon. Why? Because she was going to freak out and need to get some air to breathe and be alone. All of this new information for her was going to overload her brain and it would send her into full shock. That was something he was trying to avoid happening to her. After the past six years it was just too much for her. Three of it thinking her husband was dead and now finding out he was alive? That would be just too much for her.
When she took her medication he relaxed thinking all of it would be fine….nope! Oh how wrong he was. When Dean stepped in he moved to stand behind Lexi to catch her in case she actually fainted. T-minus two minutes and counting. She was going to freak out or something and that would be soon. The air just felt thick with tension and it was someplace he did not want to be right now. Notice how he hadn’t even said a thing yet because it was all just falling apart anyways? Well that was him being smart and just waiting to sweep in and smooth everything out for Lexi.
His eyes stayed on her as she walked up and touched Dean. Well it might be getting better, maybe they would even hug and he was just over reacting and she actually had control over these issues of hers. Nope! When she came over to him he gingerly wrapped his arm around her and looked down into her eyes. “Sure thing Lexi.” His eyes looked to Dean and he mouthed that he’d call him later as he gently walked with Lexi out of the room and down the hall. He was going to support her up because she’d probably be too shaky to walk right now. “You want me to carry you Lex?” His eyes turned to look at her while she walked next to him with his arm around her middle.

dean was on his feet again, his back to the door, when lexi opened it. he didn't realize that until he heard her say his name. he turned, smiling when he saw her, and took a step forward. her strangled cry stopped him, however, and a worried look came over his face. he wanted to pull her into his arms and give her the biggest kiss, but kept himself in check as lexi slowly moved towards him, as if she didn't believe that it was actually him. dean's smile returned as she cupped the side of his face in her hand. he had to hold his own tears back when he saw her start to cry. he raised his hand the wipe them away, but before he could she'd pulled away from him. lexi.. he said, an almost hurt tone to his voice. he dropped his hand, watching as she went to daniel, who wrapped a protective arm around her.
dean heard her ask to be taken home, then start to walk away from him. he started to follow them, faltering a little when daniel mouthed that he'd call him later. he shook his head, feeling a little angry at the fact he was just going to leave him there and take lexi away. no. i'm coming with you, he insisted, unwilling to just stand there and watch his wife being led away. he hadn't seen her in three years, and whether she wanted to see him right now or not, he didn't care. she'd have to get used to it some time. dean wasn't trying to be selfish, but he'd missed her so much, and he couldn't help what he was feeling. daniel was just trying to help, he knew, since lexi had asked him to take her home, but he almost wished it was just the two of them. he wanted to hug her, kiss her, talk to her; anything. he still couldn't understand why she didn't seem excited to see him. dean understood the shock of it, but he had expected a happy reunion after she realized that he was, in fact, still alive.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-image:url(http://i56.tinypic.com/2zgu9hc.jpg); width: 440px; padding-top:10px;]the girl in the moon --- Lexi wasn’t trying to be cruel about anything. It’s not that she didn’t miss Dean-because she did-just this was a lot to take in. She had been asleep, at work, then they came to tell her. That was not the best way to do it. Especially with how bad of panic attacks she could get. She did not adjust well to sudden change at all. Hearing her husband was alive and well after all these years? Yeah, that was sudden change. A change that she needed a few minutes to wrap her head around.
As she stared at Dean, she felt her heart break as well as fill all at once. It broke because she felt guilty. Guilty for giving up on looking for him and guilty that she had been carrying on with Jayce when her husband was clearly still alive. Then it filled with hope that maybe things could be fixed. Wait, should they be fixed when she had been carrying on with Jayce? So many thoughts swirled in her mind. She wished they’d all slow down. Lexi should be running into her husbands arms and not letting him go. That’s what she was supposed to do. Instead all the emotions swirled within her and made it difficult to get a coherent thought out. She just wanted to seek the safety and comfort of the one person who had been here for her all her life-her cousin.
Lexi registered the hurt look on Dean’s face but didn’t respond. She was not falling into the numb mode of things. She leaned into Daniel and shook her head at his question on if she wanted ot be carried. She just needed to pull strength form him for the time being. When Lexi heard Dean say he was coming, she paused and looked at him then Daniel. The look in Daniel’s eyes told her he didn’t want Dean to come. She shook her fogged up head. ”Daniel, I want him to come home with us. Where else is he going to go? He should be with family.” Lexi may not be showing that she physically wanted to be close to him but she still cared about him. Her tongue poked out to lick her lips as her eyes drifted open and close lazily. ”Daniel, my meds are kicking in. maybe you should carry me.” When she was lifted up, she curled into her cousins chest and sighed lightly. The whole world had gone a little fuzzy around the edges and she felt limp. ”Don’t ever turn my husband away from me again, understand?” Lexi felt so numb that she wasn’t sure if it was whispered for only him to hear or if Dean heard her as well. At this point, she didn’t care. She just wanted to sleep so they could figure out the game plan from here.
Once in the car, Lexi curled up against the window of the back seat. Her eyes shut as she began ot doze. She faintly registered someone playing with her hair and her phone buzzing in her pocket. Only faintly as currently she was dreaming back almost a decade and a half ago when she first met Dean. Those images danced behind her lids as the car stopped and she felt someone pull her from the car then carry her to her room. Lexi didn’t respond with anything more then a whimper before she curled up under her blankets and processed this dream turned a reality as she slumbered.
