[atrb=border,0,true]Our lives are made in these twists & turns of fate ”Austin kennedy-cole you will throw this ball at me right now! Do you understand1” Miranda laughed as her brother gave her a funny look. The two began to argue about how Miranda could not hit a ball to save her life. Somewhere above on the patio of the restaurant the two siblings heard their mother shout something to them about behaving while they went to the city. They shoute dgoodbye in unison to their parents. Hard to believe Miranda was twenty-six and her brother sixteen with how they were fighting. ”Austin! Unles syou want me to shout your middle name we will play baseball and I’m at bat. Now throw the dang ball!” her brother mumbled something and Miranda just stuck her tongue out.
Austin went to go through the ball when a four year old came running to Miranda. She had pretty auburn hair like Miranda though this wasn’t her daughter. It was her niece. ”lulu angel what are you doing silly girl. You should be playing with your daddy.” Miranda put the bat in the sand and then bent down to give her niece a hug. She really did love that little girl. ’daddy said your boo-boo was hurting today.’ Miranda’s face fell a little as she heard seth shouting for lulu but the elder woman but on a big smile. ”auntie’s boo-boo isn’t hurting that bad anymore I promise. Now go chase daddy!” Miranda pressed a kiss to her nieces cheek before the little girl went to run after her father. It was days like today which sucked.
Miranda heard Austin say something about how Miranda shouldn’t push her limits but Miranda waved him off. She knew her diagnosis and wasn’t too concerned about it. She wanted to stay as active as possible for as long as possible. Plus, exercise was good for her. Miranda found her position again and waited for Austin to toos the ball. Whn the baseball left his hands she swung as it came close and...it disappeared. ”where’d it go?” all of a sudden Austin’s face went pale and then he dropped into the sand laughing so hard he was crying. ”Austin where is the ball!” her brother pointed off to his side as he rolled about in the sand and Miranda’s face fell. She immediately ran towards where the ball was which was beside a guy who she had hit in the back of the head. Miranda rolled him from his side onto his back and began to slap his face lightly. ”sir, sir are you ok? Wake up.” Miranda heard her brother laughing still os barked for him to go get ice in the restaurant as she kept tyring to wake the guy p, some groans of pain leaving his lips.

] KJ groaned out, literally not knowing what had hit him. He sat up slowly, getting dizzy as he did so. Ohhhh...my head. He complained, reaching to touch where he'd been it. It was sensitive but it didn't appear to be bleeding. Squinting, he looked the woman as she began to explain what had transpired.[/ul]

[atrb=border,0,true]there‘s a fire starting in my heart, reaching a fever pitch Miranda knew her siblings all treated her like a china doll about ready to break at any moment. She knew things with her condition were a bit delicate but she knew her limits. Mostly. Today was a good day. There was a dull ache in her legs and back but that was about it. Besides, she was still in the mild stages of her condition. Miranda wanted ot live her life fully before her condition progressed and she spent more time resting then active. She was intent on really living as much as possible. Today’s item was baseball with her younger brother. It’s something they’ve done plenty of times together in the apst. Today should be no different at all.
Miranda heard lulu and seth on the porch of the restaurant cheering them on. Lulu was going “yay auntie!” very loudly. Miranda adored the little girl. She sent the four year old a smile before Austin threw the ball. Probably not the best idea since it seemed to have distracted her a bit. Austin may find the situation humorous but Miranda did not. there was a man passed out for goodness sakes! That wasn’t exactly a good thing to have happen. Guilt immediately went through her. Usually no one was at this part of the beach unless they were coming to eat at the restaurant. The way this man was laying it didn’t look like he had been heading inside for a meal.
A look of concern was on her face as she sucked in a deep breath and exhaled it as he began to come to. Miranda sank back so her legs were folded under her. ”here let me help you sit up. my brother is coming with some ice if he can stop laughing like a hyena.” a very strained smile broke out though it was more a grimace then anything as she reached to help him sit up. ”um yeah you were the victim of my complete lack of any athletic skill sets. I was playing baseball with my younger brother and it would seem I am destined to always hit foul balls.” Miranda finished just as ausitn came back around with a bag of eyes and still laughing. Miranda picked up the baseball and chucked it at his shoulder but the youngest kennedy-cole managed to grab it. ”Austin winchell kennedy-cole you stop laughing this minute or else I’ll call dad and tell him to make you work a double for your rude behavior! Now go pick up our stuff or else I’ll make you go to work early.” Miranda’s tone was firm as she pointed to the abandoned bat and mitt while she stared him down who very smartly shut himself up before getting into more trouble.
Miranda tok the bag of ice and looked at the man’s head as she pressed the bag of ice to it. ”in case you are interested in placing charges the name is Miranda kennedy-cole and I’ll be here at cook’s lobster and fish house all night long. I promise not to book it out of town.” a warm smile spread on her lips as she attempted to diffuse the bit of tension. ”though if a bribe will work I can give you a meal on the house to make up for my attempted homicide.”

] Kieran suggested. His tone wasn't rude or playful, just lackadaisical as he groaned once more. Liam wasn't a wimp or a complainer. He was a man's man and usually handled pain well. But the moment he had the most horribly massive headache and he could feel his temple starting to swell and no doubt bruise. Kieran heard the woman chastise the younger sibling, threatening a double shift. If he hadn't been so out of it, he might have laughed at what she said. Instead he looked up at the kid, eyes slightly squinted, with a firm look on his face. One that seemed to say If you don't stop it on your own, I'll stop it for you. Kieran wasn't a particularly grumpy or impatient guy. But it wasn't every day that one got knocked out with a baseball and had someone practically standing over you laughing. This was extenuating circumstances. Kieran closed his eyes and the bag of eyes was lightly pressed against his head by the seemingly gentle woman. It felt good, some relief at last! Kieran raised an eyebrow as she stated her name and offered for him to press charges...honorable. Or at least, trying to appear so. When she mentioned a meal, his eyes slowly opened and his deep eyes looked up at her. Oh....so you admit you tried to murder a perfectly innocent stranger, then? Kieran teased, though it might not have sounded like teasing to her. He wasn't really good at that sort of thing, that was his sister Ruby's department. Kieran was just a bit...shall we say...socially awkward. He could be intense and people didn't always know how to read him. Probably because he wasn't good at expressing himself. I suppose a fine meal would be a sufficient bribe. He gave her a crooked smirk and moved his hand to hold the ice himself. With the free hand, he pushed himself off the ground, getting up slowly as he again began to get dizzy. When Kieran was to his feet, he swayed a slight bit, his equilibrium a little off still. When he'd gained his footing, he introduced himself. I'm Kieran McPhersonl...But you can call me KJ if you want. He said politely.[/ul]

[atrb=border,0,true]there‘s a fire starting in my heart, reaching a fever pitch Miranda arched a brow at him. She wasn’t one for sarcasm herself but she did roll her eyes. She pointed her thumb behind her. ”technically this is my family’s backyard. That restaurant is owned by my family and that house right next to it is my parent’s house. So technically I was playing where I should.” there was a soft smile on her lips. She wasn’t one for malice or anything so she wouldn’t return whatever it was in his own. It’s not like he was being malicious but she figured she should explain herself at least. Miranda really did feel awful about what had transpired. She felt even worse that her brother seemed to be getting a laugh out of it. This was not how she planned on her day going.
As she looked at this man she swore she knew him form somewhere but couldn’t place it. She didn’t dwell on it too much as it would eventually come to her. She laughed lightly as she shook her head a bit. ”I didn’t say murder charges but hmm perhaps assault with a deadly weapon? Much lesser charge and I won’t be in prison for the rest of my life. I’m much too pretty to be locked up in jail until I die.” Miranda wasn’t being vain or overconfident, just returning his playfulness. She never had problems making friends because of how sweet she could be. Being in such a large family you had to learn how to roll with the punches, especially when she sort of became the eldest sibling after her brother had died. You’d find no shortage of warm welcomes and smiles in the kenendy-cole family.
Their fingers brushed briefly as he went to take over holding the ice but Miranda didn’t pay much mind to it. Instead she focused on him taking her bribe of sorts. ”well you can have anything on the menu no matter the price. I’d say you could have a beer too but I’m not sure if alcohol and a head injury are a good combination. Though we have a mean iced tea and aspirin combo I think might interest you.” she stood up quickly, glad for the relief of her stiff legs as she held her hands out, ready to catch him. Then again they’d probably both topple over if he fell with too much force. When he was straightened she clapped her hands together as it dawned on her. ”oh I thought I recognized you! You’re ruby’s brother! I’m Miranda kennedy-cole. I work as a teacher at the elementary-middle school. Her and I are friends.” Miranda adored ruby. now the puzzle pieces fit together because of the pictures she had seen. No wonder he looked familiar. She could see the resemblance in their features as well.
”come on, you have a meal waiting to be ordered.” Miranda gestured towards to stairs that led up to the deck of the restaurant. The restaurant rested on a slight cliff that the deck extended onto, the only support beams needed for the area with the stairs connecting to the deck.

] Kieran said grumpily. He didn't take too kindly to being assaulted by a baseball. And humble too. Kieran said, after Miranda said she was much too pretty to be kept in jail. Of course he was only teasing about it. But anyways, you might not call it attempted murder, but O do...And I'm almost certain I can get the jury to side with me. He joked lightly in his deadpan way. Kieran was a hard read. He rarely ever got noticeably excited or upset about something. When he did make a joke, or tease like right now, it was a monotone-ish sort of presentation. Kieran hadn't really noticed that his hand had brushed against the woman's when he went to support the icepack on his own. Kieran wasn't really observant like that. Not that he walked around with his head in the clouds all day. No far from that. It was just that he didn't notice little things like that. Unless, he was watching a guy try to make a pass at Ruby. Kieran was very observant and very protective when it came to his younger sister. Some had tried to tell him that he was too protective and that was why Ruby was still dealing with the fall out from her ex. But Kieran and Ruby both knew that wasn't true. Kieran always said he'd like to see how they'd react after being abused and nearly killed by their boyfriend. It made him angry that anyone would criticize the way he dealt with Ruby. Especially since they had no idea what it was like. Ruby was sweet and gentle and so good with the kids and she was really a strong person, but not as strong as she'd once been, and she was definitely changed. She wasn't a party animal. But on the weekends, nothing had bee able to keep her from going out and playing a gig or hanging with Whitney and her other girlfriends. But not anymore. Ruby was leery of going out, especially after dark. She was afraid to be alone in the dark. There were many nights when Kieran knew Ruby was reliving the whole traumatic event in her head. He wished he could take those memories away from her so the pain would be gone and she could be herself again. With Miranda's help, Kieran stood up slowly as she talked about the menu you and him not drinking beer, but having whatever else he might want. When he was standing at his full height 6' 2", he wavered a little bit as a spell of dizziness hit him. But after a moment, he was alright. Kieran nodded Tea and Aspirin...yeah good idea. He agreed as the blood began to rush again, making his head pound. Kieran vaguely recognized Miranda's name as she explained that she was friends with his sister. Oh right...Yeah I think she's mentioned you before. When Ruby did talk about something other then the children at school, she'd mention Ruby and one other teacher whose name slipped him at the moment...Maybe it was Summer or Autumn or something. But it didn't matter right now. Kieran nodded when Miranda said they should go inside so he could order. Kieran slowly ascended the stairs and let Miranda direct him to a table. The menu was a bit fuzzy in his eyes, but being a guy he didn't worry about it. Kieran just figured it would clear up in a little bit. His head was still pretty rattled. Kieran let Miranda bring him the Iced Tea and Aspirin and when she got back, he ordered his meal. Kieran wasn't one to be extravagant, so he didn't order the King Crab legs or the Steak and Lobster or anything like that. Instead, he ordered a bowl of Clam Chowder and the Fried Shrimp platter. Kieran was a simple man with simple taste. Simple referring of course to how he didn't like things to be complicated, not his mental capacity. Kieran smiled as Miranda came and sat down across from him. He'd been hoping she would, purely on the basis, that he didn't really like to eat alone. Sniffling, Kieran felt himself getting a little emotional for no apparent reason, so he yawned to make his eyes water. So...how long has your family had this place?[/ul]
