( STATUS ) COMPLETE Brooklyn was exhausting herself but really didn’t care anymore. In the mornings she went to check on Dominic because, really, who else would. And she knew the man would try to get up and work because he got restless. She’d make sure he ate, his dressings were changed and he took his medications. She was stocking up his fridge and cupboards as well so he wouldn’t have to move around too much. Then she’d stop by to see Summer, though her injuries weren’t terrible and Oliver was checking in on her. After she’d spend the day at the shop where she was now not only running day to day things but getting everything set up to run it form England after this summer. Usually when she ate, she was trying to plan things for the wedding and then it was straight back to work. Once the shop was closed, she’d touch base with Oliver to see if Summer was doing ok and how he was holding up with her being hurt then go see Dominic again to make him some dinner. Lately she was lucky to get five or six hours of sleep but Brooklyn didn’t care. She did this because she cared for her friends. Even if she wasn’t close to summer, she was Dominic’s sister. Dominic was Brooklyn’s best friend plus summer was having a thing with oliver. Brooklyn wanted to be there for her.
Today was just for summer. She wasn’t working at the shop so after checking in on dominic she went to get some of summer’s favorite pastries from Cuppycake’s as well as coffee for each of them. With that, she drove to her apartment building. Here in Hope harbor Brooklyn could freely wear her engagement ring which made her happy. She felt an emptiness without it. Though it wasn’t as intense as the emptiness without Tristan. When she got to summer’s she actually sent him a text just because she felt like it. Soon enough she’d be living in England and the two wouldn’t have to worry anymore. Brooklyn grabbed the items before she got out of the car and locked it. She made her way into the building with a smile on her face. Despite using make-up to try to hide the exhaustion, it couldn’t all be hidden away. Still, she work a dusty lilac shirt made of satin, jeans and plum colored heels with gold feather earrings to brighten up her appearance.
Once at the door, Brooklyn set the food down and fished around for the hidden key and then unlocked the door. “Summer it’s me! Make sure you’re dressed m’dear. Oh! And I brought goodies.” Brooklyn shut the door behind her. Brooklyn had always been closer to dominic but now she was trying to have some sort of friendship with summer. For dominic and oliver’s sake. She was already planning to invite summer to the wedding and had all kind of schemes to get her and oliver some alone time to help this little spark grow. Yes, Brooklyn was a hopeless romantic and it was much worse now that she was with Tristan.

Post by SUMMER LILA BANES on Apr 14, 2013 15:50:57 GMT -5
For the past few days since she'd been released from the hospital, Dom and Oliver's friend, Brooklyn, had been coming to see her and make sure she was okay. The girl was amazingly nice and sweet, which made her feel better about she and Dom being such good friends. She knew that Brooklyn was taking care of Dom and that she was keeping him from doing anything stupid. That morning, Summer had gotten up at about 7:30, not bothering to go through the struggle of changing out of her heather grey hoodie and black yoga pants, since her arm was still in the sling from when they reset her shoulder. She slid her feet into her light grey slippers, then walked out to the kitchen to see what she wanted to eat for breakfast. Her pain medicine sat on the counter in a small orange bottle with the normal white cap. Take one every twelve hours it said on the label. She had to take one now, but she hated to. The pills were big enough to suffocate a horse, but she knew that if she didn't want to be on the floor in pain, she needed to keep taking them. She filled up a glass of water and shook out two pills, wondering why medicine couldn't be made into gummy form. She shrugged her good shoulder and popped the pills into her mouth, lifting the water glass to her mouth. It was then, as she was swallowing her pain killers with a swig of water, that she heard someone unlocking her door. No matter how many times Brooklyn did this, or how many times Dom and Oliver warned her, she was always startled until she heard the girl speak up. Her hand jumped up to her heart as she nearly dropped her glass of water and caught her breath when Brooklyn came inside. "No matter how used to it I am, I think it'll scare me every time." She laughed lightly, seeing her walking inside carrying a box of something that seemed to be from the local bakery. "Good morning. Do you not have to work today? She asked Brooklyn as she walked over to her to help her by taking the box out of her hands. Brooklyn was always awake in the mornings, whereas Summer was usually forcing herself to stay awake, but Brooklyn seemed a little too awake today... as if she were forcing it. She'd been working hard lately and taking care of both her and her brother, which was more than they could have ever asked from her, yet she did it. Maybe she was so awake because she'd already drank some of the coffee she was holding as well. "You really didn't have to bring all of this." She said to Brooklyn as she took the box out of her hands and walked over to the open kitchen, placing it down on the island. "Do you want anything to eat?" She asked her as the door closed behind her. outfit: here

( STATUS ) COMPLETE Most people wouldn’t think Brooklyn could step into such a caring “role” so easily. She knew she could be a bit harsh and not really thinking before she said things. She was getting better in that area, though. And she let her “softer” side show for more people besides Tristan. Sure, people saw how caring she could be but she didn’t like to come off as weak. Weak was bad in her family. Showing a moment of weakness had now led ot a rift in her family. But this moment of weakness was such a good one. It was making her beyond happy. For some reason her parents just couldn’t see that. Well, Brooklyn’s father couldn’t. She had tried to apologize but nothing worked. Brooklyn could only wait and hope the old man would come around.
Instead, she threw herself into life here in Hope Harbor to stay distracted. That helped immensely. It was also helping to keep her mind off the upcoming trial of her uncle. Maybe then her father would talk to her because he really had no choice. They would all be in the same hotel since the prosecution was paying for it. Their rooms would be next to each other and it would be unavoidable to see one another. At least people here cared about her happiness like she cared about theirs. That care was shown in an odd way at times but it was there.
The Banes siblings had no family to speak of. Sure, Sydni’s dad had taken them in as teenagers but he and Sydni had both been injured. They were of no use to anyone themselves. Brooklyn was close with Dominic so it was easy enough. And Summer was his sister as well as someone Oliver seemed to deeply care about. She would do anything for two of her best men. Plus Summer was so sweet. Brooklyn just loved her! Checking in on her really hadn’t been a bother, even if some people might have found it so. Trying ot get in while juggling the drinks and sweets was a bit challenging but it was done. She figured after everything, Summer could use a treat. And Brooklyn could use the sugar rush. Running around after everyone was a difficult task. Lord help Brooklyn whenever her and Tristan decide to have children.
“Sorry. It’s a terrible habit. I really should stop but...it’s hard.” Brooklyn laughed at her own foolishness as she went towards the kitchen. She was reluctant to hand the box over but it was light and she knew summer hated to feel like an invalid. Dominic did too but the man had to stay in bed or on the couch, not out in his boat. She set the two drinks down as she shook her head. “no I decided to take a day off to chill out. I figured that when your pain meds aren’t making you loopy we could get to know one another better. After all, I am inviting you to the wedding and I want to gauge what level of awkwardness of situations I‘m allowed to throw you and oliver in.” Brooklyn couldn’t help the sly smile that formed before she sipped at her coffee. Coffee had become a whole food group to Brooklyn lately. She had one every couple of hours so she didn’t pass out from the lack of sleep.
Brooklyn shook her head. “nah I already ate. These are all for you. Dominic told me what you liked. I already brought him his own. Well, I brought him half. I told him he gets the rest if he stays in bed and takes his medications.” bribery-the best took for anyone. Brooklyn set her drink down and rubbed her hands together. By the looks of the pill bottle on the counter, summer had taken her medications which was good. “now how are you feeling? Did you want me to help get anything around the apartment done today? I do have tow working hands so I can be much quicker. And I’m also nicer then you’re only good hand. That think will start to complain with pan and that wouldn’t be good at all.”

Summer laughed at Brooklyn's apology, shaking her head. The girl always seemed to be buzzing around like a bee, busy as all get out. This is why Summer was surprised to see her prepared to stay for a while. Even though they hadn't known each other that well, she still knew that Brooklyn liked being independent and involved. Recently, however, it seemed that she was starting to be more connected with people rather than just knowing them. When she suggested they get to know each other once Summer wasn't so high on her pain meds, a smile came to her face. "That sounds like a great idea." She nodded, taking a sip of her coffee which Brooklyn had out down for her, nearly choking as Brooklyn mentioned how she would be setting up different situations for Summer and Oliver to find themselves in. "You'd better watch yourself, Brooklyn. If Dom finds out you're trying to make his little sister fall in love, I can only imagine the wrath you'll feel." she said with a wink and a laugh, teasing her as she went to pick up one of her favorite pastries. As she opened up the box and saw all of her favorite pastries sitting inside. "How did you-" She started to ask how she knew what to get her, but almost as soon as Brooklyn began to explain, Summer knew it was Dominic. "Of course... The world's best memory that I get to call my brother." She said with a small laugh, shaking her head and pulling one of the strawberry and shortbread cookie, taking a bite as she went to grab herself a napkin.
When Brooklyn me mentioned Dom's box of pastries, Summer smiled, nodding her head. "You really do know him too well. Bribes are the only way to get him to listen." It'd been that way since they were kids, every time she wanted something from him, or for him to do something for her, she had to pay him in money, candy, or sweets. Usually the sweets worked best. Brooklyn asked her how she was and if she wanted to get anything done, which forced a sigh out of her as she glanced around at all of the boxes. "I'm better than yesterday, thanks. I just really need to get to unpacking all of these boxes. If you really want to help, there's a crap ton if them sitting in my room. I can't even find the rest of my clothes yet." She said to Brooklyn with a sheepish grin. She had just enough clothes for the next week before she'd have to wash them all again, the rest were hidden somewhere in the apartment.

( STATUS ) COMPLETE Both Welcott boys and dominic had really helped Brooklyn to start to realize that se had been shutting people out too long. Though she was always there for people, Brooklyn had hardly ever let anyone be there for her. Only dominic had really known everything about her. Then through oliver she had met Tristan and in getting to know Tristan she got to know oliver more and more as well. The three men had really gotten her to loosen up and not hide thigns. So now Brooklyn was putting forth more of an effort. Even if she was moving to London she’d still find ways to come here. After all, she wasn’t closing her shop and she’d have to come back every month or so to check in on things.
Summer was Dominic’s sister and seemed to be oliver’s romantic interest. Brooklyn was having way too much un teasing oliver about that. She was in the process of preparing her grandmother’s home for him to live in so he was often over when not working so he could give his input on what he wanted. Oliver seemed a bit stubborn in sharing information with her though she couldn’t blame him. Brooklyn could be a bit of a pest at times so sometimes she got what she wanted. Hopefully in this case with summer they became friends. Summer seemed like an extremely sweet girl and as long as she could handle Brooklyn’s rather blunt nature then she knew they would be able to.
“great! Then we can gang up on your brother to make him do what we want.” she winked at summer as she went about moving around the kitchen. Her hand waved aimlessly. “pft that’s why we don’t tell him. Besides, the wedding is in italy. I’ll just shove some hot, Italian girl in front of him so that he’ll hopefully move on from that awful woman.” she knew dominic still loved his wife but the woman had cheated on him, left him for that guy and was now getting married to the other man. It was time to move on. There was staying in love with someone and then there was holding onto something completely hopeless. “besides, you and oliver are adorable together! He said you two met just before my birthday party? Why didn’t you come?!” Brooklyn would have loved to have had her there. Sure they may not have known each other very well but she might as well be family. Brooklyn treated dominic like a brother and she spoiled everleigh like she was an aunt. Still, she wasn’t thinking of kids of her own yet but now that her and Tristan were getting married that conversation would probably come up. That would be interesting to say the least.
“yes I learned that early on. Also to take things away. I had o go through his whole house to get his boat and car keys so he won’t operate either thing. I don’t think he likes me very much because of it.” Brooklyn shrugged like it was no big deal but she worried about him. She knew he was bored being cooped up at home alone. She had offered to stay there or have him come to her place but he refused. Men. They were too stubborn for their own good. She took another drink of her coffee before she glanced around and nodded with a grin. “you want me to help you unpack boxes that might have clothes? The fashion designer side of me is positively giddy. Come on. You can boss me around in between telling me what you’ve been up to before coming back to this no longer boring town.” yes, the “avery” attacks had the whole town on edge and not in a good way.
Brooklyn let summer lead the way before she reached for a box and opened it up on the bed next to summer so summer could look in and tell Brooklyn what to do with everything.

Summer laughed a little louder than normal when Brooklyn suggest they gang up on her brother. "Cause we're so big and strong, of course." She said with a shake of her head and a smile. In truth, it didn't seem that either of the two girls lacked any bit of muscle, and Summer of course was almost completely muscle since there really wasn't room for anything else on her body and she had been a rower in college, but neither apart nor together could the two of them take on Dominic. She smiled and shook her head again at her next idea. "Is he still thinking about her? That's just not healthy." She said with a shake of her head. She loved her brother, but sometimes he was as dense as a cement wall. When she heard Brooklyn mention she and Oliver as a couple, a smile returned to her face slowly and she glanced up at the girl. "Well thank you. He told me I should come and I'll be completely honest with you, I sat at home, in a party dress, all ready to go, and I wimped out. I think I was too nervous to even pick up my phone and call him that night." She said with a laugh, shaking her head. "And that was kind of an embarrassing thing to say, wasn't it?" She said, shaking her head and looking back down at the counter.
Summer's eyebrows raised at Brooklyn's story about taking keys from around Dom's house. "Well, he definitely would have tried to go out too soon, so I guess that was smart. How do you know he doesn't have any spares?" She said with a wink, seeing if she'd already checked for them or if her little head was going to explode. Maybe that was a cruel thought to put into her head, seeing that she cared about him so much, but her reaction would be funny none-the-less.
When Brooklyn actually seemed excited about going through Summer's clothes with her, she started to raise an eyebrow, but she stopped herself. This girl did kind of maybe love clothes, so why was so she surprised. "Alright, alright! I'm coming!" She said with a laugh, grabbing her coffee and taking her into her fairly small bedroom where cardboard boxes seemed to be the furniture. "Hi, I'm Summer and I'm a Shop-a-holic." She said with a small laugh as she placed her cup of coffee on the dresser before starting to open a box in front of her bed. "These are mostly shirts, so if they can get hung up, we can put them on the top rack in the closet, if not, second drawer down on the right in the dresser." She said to Brooklyn as she started to pull out clothes and sort them into two piles. "So what do you want to know?" In her mind, her life wasn't all that interesting.

( STATUS ) COMPLETE Brooklyn laughed before she put her hands on her hips. “hey now! You may be a weakling but I am not. My dad is a marine. He taught me everything I know to kick your brother's ass into gear." the smile on broonlyn's lips faltered as she thought of her dad helping to toughen her up. She thought that he would've come around by now but he hadn't. Brooklyn had numerous conversations with her mother, just only when her mom was alone so her parents wouldn't fight. Hopefully things would change before the wedding this summer. At least her moment of sadness could be brushed off as frustration as they spoke of Nicole. Brooklyn had only met the woman a couple of times. She tried to be nice for dominic's sake but his ex-wife had hurt him and that did not sit well with Brooklyn at all. She wanted to have a go with the woman but knew that was a terrible idea with how he still cares about her. There's true love and then there's chasing a pipe dream. Dominic was chasing a pipe drain. “yes he does. It doesn't help she's been there just about daily with everleigh so they're talking. I'm not sure how I feel about that to be honest. I know I'd rather see him sane and out of her grasp but it seems impossible. I have tried to set him up but it never pans out it would seem" Brooklyn shrugged, pretending it was nothing when everyone knows he should move on. The girl was engaged to the guy she cheated on dominic wth and that should be hint enough to move on. Brooklyn grinned widely. It wad completely adorable seeing summer's reaction to her mentioning Oliver and she loved oliver's reactions about summer. Her head shook from side to side as she fiddled with her coffee. “it's not embarrasing. It's cute. But obviously Oliver didn't call you but that also really wasn't his nature until recently." Brooklyn paused a moment as a pensive look overcame her visage. “Oliver, well both welcott boys actually, are good guys. Really, really good guys. I'm not going to threaten you to be good to him because if I know you from what dom has said, you wouldn't. What I'm saying is you're really lucky and if you two continue to date I'll be happy for you both. Oliver is one of my best friends and it's nice to see him so happy again, thanks to you. Just hopefully the Raggedy man doesn't mess up or I'll kick his butt. I am his future sister-in-law so I have every right." Brooklyn may not be close to summer but she could tell the blonde was changing Oliver for the better. That made her happy and she knew it'd make Tristan happy as well. Or did. She wasn't sure what Oliver told Tristan yet and Brooklyn had said very little. Brooklyn was a sucker for the people in her life being happy and if these two were happy together she'd be their biggest supporter.
“and next time don't be nervous! I'll make sure to keep you by side the next party."
Brooklyn rubbed the palms of her ga ds together in circles. With a sigh she nodded her head at summer. “I know he would've. He's hates being stuck there and I think is a little mad at me taking the keys but whatever." Brooklyn would do anything to protect her friends. Many not believe it with how she could come off as a bit abrasive but it was the truth. “oh I went through that whole house before I brought him home. He would've had to swallow one to still have it." plus, Dominic knew he needed to rest so it's nit lime he could really get mad. Brooklyn was just looking out for him since summer was also injured and couldn't plus they had no parents around.
Brooklyn knew she might be a bit eccentric and hyper compared to others. At least summer wasn't freaking but Dominic and Oliver probably had something to do with it. When Oliver first came Brooklyn did anything to help him out around his apartment. She just thrust herself into his life. Now she was glad because she not only gained a wonderful friend but had found the love of her life. Many people made fins that corny but for the ones who knew the true brooklyn-the one who put on this happy but tough demeanor was really just using it to hide all her true problems-they would know Tristan really was. He had torn down walls no one else had been able to. That was really something.
Brooklyn giggled a little. “I think I'm right there in the club with you. I think it annoys your brother. I constantly buy everleigh things. And make them. That girl has the world's most unique dress up trunk ever." Brooklyn moved to grab the box of hangers to begin to put the shirts on them. Summer had very classy tastes. Nothing too outrageous. Between that and her bubbly demeanor, she could see how she caught oliver's eye. Brooklyn was glad of that. She sat on the edge of the bed, putting the items already on hangers on a neat, flat pile beside her. “oh anything. I know you were going to college to become a teacher but not what area of study?" Brooklyn already knew plenty about summer from Dominic but the man didn't talk about everything. Plus, Brooklyn wanted to be on good terms, if not friends, with summer. The girl was Dominic's sister and Oliver was interested in her-of course Brooklyn wanted to try to be friends! Plus, Brooklyn needed more female friends and she could see summer being a good friend. She loved all the men in her life but they just didn't get everything she did. Like loving fashion and shopping. They'd rather skip that and she was fine with that. That's what girlfriends were for.

Summer laughed and shook her head. "Well, how weak can I be when I used to row in college, but if we do have to beat him up, I'll let you go first... He was a boxer so I think you're our best bet." She said to her with a smile. She immediately saw something change as Brooklyn thought about something to herself. Summer debated asking about it, but she was never one to get into other peoples' business, so she would let her speak up if she wanted to.
They began to vent about Dom and Nicole's odd relationship and Summer shook her head as she let out a breath that sounded almost like a hiss, not on purpose though. "This whole situation is wrong. If someone does you wrong, you don't go chasing after them to pretend that it can be fixed. You can't fix what she did, and she obviously doesn't want to." She said as she gripped her counter a little too hard in her moment of anger, and all of her knuckles turned ghost white for a few seconds before she released.
She nodded as she assured her that it wasn't embarrassing to have wimped out and not called him, but she still felt a bit silly for it. As soon as Brooklyn's expression shifted again, Summer's attention was fully on her, wondering what she was going to say to her. It wasn't a threat, but it was a warning. If she in anyway hurt Oliver, she knew she'd have Brooklyn to answer to, and maybe even Tristan, even though she had yet to meet him. She nodded to her with a small smile. "I'll make sure I take good care of him, and rest assured, he's in no way close to messing this up." She assured her. She liked Oliver a lot... she felt safe with him, which was a huge change for her, but one that she liked. It had been a while since she'd gotten close to someone, and now that she was again, she was starting to open up some doors which she'd closed a long time ago.
She smiled as Brooklyn told her to just come to the next party and she nodded her head. "Alright, alright, I'll be there whenever the next one is." She told her as she took another sip of her coffee. She knew she was right in saying that her brother hated being cooped up in his house with nowhere to go, but they both knew it was for the best. When Brooklyn said that she'd made sure he had no other keys, Summer laughed. "He's definitely on lock-down." She said with a small smile.
When Brooklyn confessed her own problem with shopping and clothes in general, she smiled, glad to have someone understand. "Oh, but see, you can just make whatever your heart desires, I have to go out and buy what I want, so I think that since you still continue to shop instead of just making it, you're worse than I am." She said with a wink and a teasing laugh, not meaning it, just messing with her. She asked about college and what she studied and summer began to tell her. "Well, I wanted to go in for high school education, but I decided that it'd be easier to work with the younger kids now, and maybe go get a degree in high school education from the community college in a few years." She said to her with a shrug. "What about you? Did you go for some sort of fashion degree?"
