Hope Harbor. What was it that had drawn him to this town? He had found his way here and well it was where he was settling down at for now. He was going to be able to hopefully get past his writers block and be able to finish his second book here. He had promised everyone that he would get it done so the rest of his series could continue but damn, it was taking a while. Thankfully he used that pen name and no one knew who he really was or else they would all be bugging him to get the books done. Thankfully today was also a bright and sunny day so he was able to find a place at the coffee shop and sit down. An online version of his first book was opened and he had finished reading it for what seemed like the five hundredth time. That was hopefully going to give him some ideas.
Leaving his laptop he went and ordered a cup of iced tea and a slice of chocolate cake and had them bring it to him when it was all ready. He needed to get back to his laptop and continue working on this book before he failed his fans. Sitting back at his table he took in the view of the harbor as his mind took him back into the world he had created and started typing away at his computer. Slowly everything came back and the characters were each dancing around in his head as he typed away. Now he was getting somewhere! A smile crossed his lips as he looked up and his stuff had arrived and he was already three chapters into the story.
Taking a break he dined on the cake and he drank the tea down. Once he was full he went back to working and sighed. This was the life. This place was exactly what he needed right now. He was finally making way on his story and no one would be able to stop him from writing the story that was going on inside of his mind. Now he was in the zone! This town was the place he needed to be while he was writing his stories. After a few hours he closed his laptop once he saved the book and sighed. This was the life. He was finally able to write again and he had this place to thank. With a grin he ordered another tea and looked out to the bay. How could this day get any better?

She put her items down and began to pick up the cup and wipe up the floor with her napikin. I'm such a clutz...I really should be more vigilant...Let me buy you another. Ruby insisted, and grabbed more napkins off the table top to wipe up the rest of the tea. Ruby really hadn't noticed whether or not the patron was a man or woman, until she heard a deepish voice and looked up from where she was crouched on the floor to see the tea's owner standing over her. He looked vaguely familiar, though Ruby couldn't really tell why, because he was certainly not from Hope Harbor. Ruby knew pretty much everyone in this town and if she didn't know them personally, she at least knew what they looked like. [/ul]

This past year had been one of change that Tyler had needed. It was one that had finally gotten him back on track with his life. Sure he didn’t need to write this sequel but he had gone onto his fake facebook profile and promised his fans that there would be one so they will get the rest of the story. Not only that he had told them that if everything couldn’t fit into this book then it would all be put into the one book then there would be three. He still had a plan on what would happen all in his book series. The best part was he already had the ending planned out.
He barely noticed when the bell rang signaling that someone had come into the shop. This was one of those moments when he was just ready to write and had it all planned out. Even when he had his laptop closed his mind was running with the plot and characters. Oh this place was his saving grace and he was going to use it. All he could do was hope that the magic of this place stayed with him and allowed him to finish the book and send it into his editor and then his publisher.
Everything was going fine until it all happened so fast. He had been reaching for his cup when the table shook and someone crashed right into the table. His hand shifted and he grabbed his laptop instead keeping it out of the way of anything. Looking up he noticed it was a woman with the most beautiful eyes he’d ever seen. Setting his computer down on the chair next to him he stood up and grabbed some napkins and helped the woman clean up the tea. “Please miss, don’t worry about it.” He helped her clean up the tea and sighed. “I was actually finished with it honestly.” She didn’t need to worry about buying him a new one.
When it was done and all cleaned up he stood up and threw away the paper towels and looked down at the girl who was still there crouched on the floor. His hand extended to her to help her up so she wasn’t still there on the floor. His eyes looking over her to make sure that there was no tea or anything all over her clothes. She had been so worried about cleaning up the floor that she didn’t make sure to check her own clothes for any sign of damage by tea. “Are you okay? I mean you did take a hard hit when you collided with the table.” He offered her the seat across from him as he returned back to his seat at the table. “May I ask you what your name is?”

She commented, assuming and mostly likely correctly, that he was just being kind. No...there's nothing to be done accept to get you a new tea. Anne! Ruby called up to the counter, it being a small town, everyone knew everyone else pretty much. Please get this gentleman a new tea and make sure it goes on my tab...not his. The young woman insisted. Ruby continued to wipe up the floor, making sure it was absolutely dry, even after the young man had gotten up. After a moment she saw a hand come into her line of vision. Stopping she looked up slowly and almost in a reluctant manner, took his hand and allowed him to help her to her feet. Ruby was relieved that nothing awkward had happened, like her heel getting stuck int he hem of her skirt, or losing her balance and falling on him, or anything like that. Oh... Ruby let out a soft laugh. I-I'm fine....perfect...thank you. She answered. When he offered her the seat across from him, she sat, wordlessly and winced a moment later when she realized she'd failed to answer him, but the moment had passed and must forever think her rude and she must forever be embarrassed, or so Ruby thought. Yes. Ruby replied to his question about knowing her name. Ruby sat back in her chair and smiled faintly, then looked towards the counter to see if his tea was done when she realized she needed to tell them man her name. Oh!...uhhh Ruby-Grace....McPherson. Ruby winced again. Who wanted to know your entire name when first meeting? Why was she acting so funny around this man...Well she knew why. Ruby didn't really talk to many men since...well...since Jeff. But this was still plain ridiculous. She was making a fool of herself and doing quite an expert job at it. And you are?" As the man introduced himself, Ruby finally began to pick up on his Southern accent. She was surprised she hadn't noticed it before, but she guessed it was because she was so distracted. Ruby decided she quite liked the way the man talked. Having lived here in Maine her whole life and rarely ever left the little town of Hope Harbor, the only Southerners Ruby had ever "met" were in the movies. It was quite a treat to meet a real live one. And what brings you to Hope Harbor? Ruby asked, smiling, but the smile quickly turned to a look almost likenable to horror. I'm so sorry...that was terribly nosy of me. She nervously twisted a lose strand of hair around her finger and looked down at her drink. [/ul]

Hopefully the woman wouldn’t feel too embarrassed about having spilled his drink all on the floor. It was just a simple mistake and it was one that was corrected very easy. He looked at her as they cleaned up the floor and smiled as he noticed how her hair fell down and framed her face. There was something ethereal about her and it was calming. Even though he was assuring her she still didn’t seem to think he could go without another drink. “Really, it’s fine miss. You don’t need to worry about it at all.” When she spoke up and called Anne he shook his head with a small smile. She was someone that really knew how to take charge and do something even when she was being told something else. Hearing her tell her to put it on her tab he smiled. The poor girl really must be flushed. He smiled and nodded. “Miss, aren’t refills here free?” If so all he had to do was take his cup up and get a new drink.
When he was done and she sat there still cleaning up the floor he smiled and though about it while he held his hand out for her. This could happen in the book at some point. It would be amazing to have real life influence the writing. When she finally looked up he gave her a warm smile and nodded his head as she reassured him that she was fine. “I am glad to hear you’re fine. If you were injured I would have been the one feeling worse.” All he had needed was his glass to have fallen on her head and cracked her head open. That would have been a very bad day.
Offering her the free chair was something he should do seeing as not only had she bumped into the table but she had cleaned up the drink and gotten him a new one. When he asked her his name he waited and when she said yes he smiled. Knowing it was the answer to if she wanted to sit he couldn’t help but joke a little about it. “That’s an interesting name, must be confusing every time someone says yes to something, I would fear they’re talking to me.” He teased playfully before looking back up into those blue eyes of hers. When she finally says her name he gives her another warm smile. “It’s nice to meet you Miss McPherson.” He reaches out and takes her hand bringing it to his lips and smiles. Oh yes, he was raised in the south after all.
When she asks his name he looked up into her eyes Tyler Pierce, ma’am. It’s a pleasure to meet you.” His southern accent very noticeable as he talked being raised up in the south the accent tended to stick around but it was okay, there was something about having a southern accent that made it all better. If he was going to find more people like her around he was going to have a nice stay here, though he might want to start suggesting they pad everything so when people bump into tables it doesn’t hurt. At her question he thinks about it for a while and opens his lips when she speaks up. A small smile on his lips. “No worries ma’am, I’m actually here on a vacation. Had to get away from home and just clear my mind.” She must be a local though so he couldn’t ask what brought her to this place. “Seeing as you asked a question my turn, what do you do here?” Twenty questions…..begin!

Ruby nervously sipped her drink, looking at him over her cup before quickly averting her eyes and looking down at the tabletop. Ruby didn't like to make contact with people's eyes. She always felt like they were staring right into her soul. Ruby didn't like to feel transparent. Ruby looked slightly confused when she said "yes" And the young man said that was interesting name. She gave him a confused look before what happened dawned on her. Embarrassed yet again, Ruby told him her name. Oh...please....Just call me Ruby-Grace...or just...Ruby if you prefer...Miss McPherson seems so....stuffy. Or like you're one of my students or something. She laughed a little, hoping she hadn't offended or embarrassed him. She was called "Miss McPherson" all day by her students. She liked to hear her first name now and again. Ruby blushed for probably the one thousandth time since they'd met just a few minutes prior, when he kissed her hand. Withdrawing her hand, Ruby placed it neatly in her lap and smiled a nervously sweet smile. It's a pleasure to meet you too Mr. Pierce. Ruby winked playfully since she'd just said using titles was stuffy. She was interested when he said he was hear on vacation. We don't get many vacationers here anymore. Ruby said softly. That was a recent development actually, due to everything that had happened with this Avery person. And she couldn't blame people for not wanting to come. Ruby hardly felt safe herself anymore. That's nice you were able to get away. She said congenially. Ruby smiled when he asked what she did. She loved to talk about her work. I teach music at the Pre, through High School Ruby replied. They really should have different music teachers for each school, but it's a small town. And I enjoy having all the different age levels. She explained. I love music and I love sharing it with kids. It's exciting to see them learn. Ruby glowed as she spoke about it. People don't think of music as a language, but it really is...A beautiful melodic language. Suddenly Ruby began to blush again. I don't mean to prattle. I'm sorry....I'm just passionate about my work. She told Tyler. So what is it that you do...at home? Ruby inquired, wanting to know the man's occupation.[/ul]
