What do all of you think about moving the board to jcink? While the proboards V5 upgrade is nice I'm not the biggest fan of it. Plus I am thinking with the themes of this board(mainly the violence) it's be easier on there because their terms of service allows for more to happen. There are other great perks.
-linked accounts. you can link them all so it's easier to switch from one to another -mini profile codes. I have one so we can all put in our own info -more people. more people like jcink then proboards so it would be easier to attract members
Now if we move to jcink the board would have a mature rating BUT we still ask to respect those who do not like to do mature threads. We'd have you put an M tag up. We'd also leave this site open so everyone can refer to old threads.
We'd also start the board out int he summer time. It give s people more time to continue current threads since we've all been so busy.. Thoughts?

I'm up for just about anything as long as it isn't super complicated

Well the tags to align the text in a post, text size and color is slightly different but I can help anyone with that who needs it. The code to edit your profile is slightly different as to put the avatar isn't the same place you say plug in the character age. Again, in the control panel it makes that easy(says avatar settings, signature, edit profile info...). When you sign up you'd also have to sign up with your character name, not a screen name.
Everyone already here would automatically be accepted. You would just have to transfer your apps.

Personally I'm not a fan of other sites. I find them hard to catch on to. Proboards is generally pretty straight forward. So my preference is to stay here. However, I'm not going to put up a fight one way or another. Whatever everyone else wants.

I don't technically mind either way, but I do like Jcink over Proboards. I find it's much more customizable*, it's more multiple character-friendly, and it's not as complicated as one might think. Yes, it is different than Proboards, so those who have only experienced Proboards might struggle a little, but as long as there are those out there on the site willing to help it shouldn't be too bad. The only drawback that I see compared to Proboards -besides a bit more simplicity- is that Jcink's cbox doesn't exactly like to cooperate with mobile devices, so those more reliant on their phones might struggle with the cbox some -not too sure how it works with tablet users. But, besides that, I enjoy Jcink. As a side note, a Proboards site I was on just switched to Jcink due to their dislike of v5. From what I saw, they really enjoyed putting the site up, but at the same time they struggled a little with coding and had to go in and fix things since they weren't used to Jcink, so it might be good to try to read up on everything (not saying that you won't; meaning more in general) instead of blindly diving in. Now, I understand that Proboards v5 isn't the bee's knees, though I guess it's how you implement it that creates either a good or bad result. I'm actually on another Proboards site that switched to v5 -I don't think they took the opt-out option- that actually looks quite nice still (I joined right before this happened). It's here if you want to see how they did their site. And, oddly enough, they too were contemplating moving to Jcink, but when they got everything under control they decided to stay since they didn't mind v5 so much. So... while I'm not a huge fan of it myself, it's not as bad as it could be. This is just my experience as a member; I haven't really dived into the world of making a site yet, so mechanics-wise I'm not 100% sure what it consists of besides slight observation. While I enjoy Jcink, I don't mind if we stay on Proboards as well, so that's why I gave examples of both Whatever we choose in the end, I will surely follow ^.^ And, um, sorry for all the rambling/repeated thoughts X.x; it's just that I've been in two discussions concerning a move from Proboards to Jcink, and one site went to Jcink while the other stayed on Proboards. I just want to help show both sides of the decision instead of just going 'Omgee Jcink fureva!' *Now, customization might not be the most important thing. You can actually have the mini profile be pretty simple, or you can have stuff like a gif picture, hover option, quotes, etc. etc. A good example of simple is here and a good example of the more complicated is here if you want any references ^.^

I fiddled with V5 more. Either way we’ll all have to learn the different codes for editing a post(font size, color, etc) & it’ll be the same for V5 as well as JCINK. From an admin perspective, JCINK will be easier to do then V5. V5 you have to do plug ins to have things such as a sidebar and some plug ins interact with others.
Zayfare, with the cbox I can provide the direct link for the cbox. That’s how I use it on my phone is going to the direct link. Also, I am used to JCINK coding. I’ve been on JCINK sites before so I am used to the admin control area. As for the mini profile code, we’d have a simple one. Age, occupation, marital status & application link. No fancy mp3 player or gifs.
My thoughts with moving aren’t just about the V5 switch, it’s also about the site plot. We have been limited on what Avery can do because the TOS are tricky. It says what is allowed in PG-13 movies can go here but that is a very grey area I have found. I have also talked to several friends of mine who RP and the general consensus I am finding is people like JCINK or invisionfree better. I just think in order to get this site to grow again we should think about switching. Yes I haven’t been super active with everything going on in my life but I’ve been advertising this site and we’re not getting very heavy foot traffic. I’d like to see this site growing again and I think a move to JCINK might help that.

I rarely go to the direct cbox, to be honest XD So, as long as you can provide that then the problem can be solved *I guess it's more of a me thing then rather than an actual problem, unless the admins on the forum don't provide a direct link to the cbox or something like that* Ah, okay, that's good! I've always liked the mp3 options and the gif, but as of late the place I got the codes for the mp3 doesn't provide it anymore, and the dimensions for the gifs are getting stranger and stranger on some sites, and so if you don't find one the exact height/width it gets all wonky (and with some PlayBys they don't have them in that size). I haven't made a photo sharing account yet on one of those types of sites, so I guess perhaps that would solve my problem in general... Uh, sorry, kinda ran off course with that rambling XD Definitely understandable on that part. Some normal town/city sites (from what I've seen) are okay with just simply using Proboards, though for most themes it might not be the greatest (depending on what you are going for). Due to the nature of Avery, yeah, I can definitely see Jcink (with their terms and whatnot) being better suited. I'm... not a big fan of invisionfree. Not 100% sure why, but I just don't like it >.< Not saying I'll never join a site that uses it; I just prefer Proboards or Jcink. And yeah, I think it's because of the whole v5 thing that people are avoiding Proboards, though it could be the whole 'PG' thing that might scare them away too. I dunno, it's just something I thought about now XD Anyways, in the end I go wherever you all go, and I'll be happy with whatever decision you make :3
