"We're all made of the same material
We're all just variations of the same
But the way we live is beyond surreal
At least that's what they say you
need to stay sane
The lights are on but no one's home
Am I the only one who feels alone?
Nobody knows the trouble I've seen
No, Nobody knows the trouble I've seen
Could you want to, would you even try to?"

history
Sophie’s past is a very complicated one. Up until a couple months ago, she had no contact with her uncle or his family. They had disowned her mother after she got with Sophie’s father. Her father after all was a felon. He had been locked up in juvie with a violent record and sold drugs. Since her mother didn’t care to listen to her family, they severed all connections. They couldn’t see her self destruct like that and didn’t want her new boyfriend to have access to their homes. Especially because her mother’s father was going through pain treatments for his leg where there were plenty of pain pills available.
Still, Sophie was one of the lucky ones. She did plenty of peewee leagues, after school clubs and other activities growing up. So, despite her not so great living situation, she still thrived. That was because of her closest friend. Her friend was going deaf so Sophie was learning sign language with her. That was Sophie could help her out in school. Her friend ended up losing about 90% of her hearing but still loved that her other friend could help. They did everything together. Her friend’s home was an escape from the fights and the strange people showing up during all hours of the day and night.
As she got older, Sophie would actually spend as much time away from her parents as possible. Whether she stayed with a friend or wandered the streets, it didn’t matter. As long as she was away from everything. Things got worse when her father was arrested. Apparently he had run over someone with his car and they were in a coma. To this day, they were still in that state as the family don’t wish to pull the plug. What made it worse was Sophie’s mother picked up where her father left off. Sophie never felt so disappointed. She thought that with her father in jail, maybe her mother would severe ties with that life. After all, their father was abusive. So Sophie continued with avoiding the house and putting all her energy into school as well as extracurricular activities.
In the end, that effort paid off. She landed a scholarship to the community college. She thought everything was finally perfect.
Until the cops came to her campus.
Apparently her mother had gotten mixed up in some sort of gang and there was a shooting during a robbery. While her mother didn’t harm anyone, she did drive the car. Now everyone was on the run. They watched Sophie’s school and tapped her phones to see if her mother made contact. It never happened. The cops took what they could for evidance and the rest Sophie went through to sell. That’s where she found the suitcase with photos and numbers. Sophie decided to seek out these people-her family. She met with her grandparents first. They honestly had no idea about their other granddaughter. They got her in contact with her uncle, her mother’s brother, and in the end he offered her someplace else to live. Honestly there was nothing left in California for her so she decided to pack up what possessions she had and left. After she gave the cops all her information, she filled up her old convertible and headed towards the east coast.
