JORDAN POSTED FOR MADELYN Jordan decided to wear this outfit. you should know that I am excited for this thread! HOPEFUL | [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,450,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: #6d6d6d;] Jordan did a once over in his car mirror before he let out a breath of air. He hadn’t been on a date in awhile, let alone a blind date. After his divorce he had gone on a couple dates and had one somewhat serious relationship, but not very many since moving to Maine. Since being in Hope Harbor, he has had one or two dates but they really weren’t anything special. In his own mistake, while hanging out with a group of friends he had mentioned it and Sydni piped up she had a friend she could set him up with. In his state of a couple-ok maybe a few-drinks, the two started a banter. This was a woman that Jordan had never met and Sydni just expected him to go on a blind date with her? Finally he gave in just so he woman would get off his back.
So here he was, sitting outside Rivalries waiting to go inside. He thought this would be a lot more low and fun then one of the restaurants in town. Jordan easily got nervous when on dates but at the pub he was more at ease because it was fun. There were always things to talk about that were on the television or someone going up to do some karaoke or some local band playing. Tonight was a night one of the local bands was playing so there was opportunities for dancing as well as chatting along with their food and drinks. Sydni did warn him that Madelyn had a kid, almost three or already three is he remembered right? Sydni was vague if it was a boy or girl which was ok. Jordan didn’t care if a woman already had a kid or not as long as no one expected him to be some sort of sugar daddy. Of course, he wouldn’t reveal about his family money but even despite that there were some single women who dated and expected their new man to do everything. Maine has one of the highest rates of single mothers on welfare as well as people addicted to pills. Sometimes the two groups overlapped and there was one woman who kept trying to get him on a date a few years ago similar to that. Jordan flat out refused.
Sure, he wanted kids. What guy didn’t? Ok, some truly didn’t but he did. He didn’t care if they were his own or not, though he’d like his own someday. Despite everything with his ex-wife, he still believed in having a family; finding a wife and settling down in a house. Work sometimes made that difficult and his own fears holding him back as well. He had issues trying to find dates on his own because of his past experiences. When Clara’s friends said that she was using Jordan for his money, he was terrified that other girls would do that. That’s why he hadn’t touched his trust fund since moving here over two years ago. He had a little bit of money in his account that he had put there but he hadn’t touched it very much.
Finally deciding to go in, Jordan looked around. Sydni has showed him a photo so he knew who he was looking for. He didn’t see her so he went to one of the bar tables that sat higher up and slid into the stool. One hand drummed along the edges of the table while the other held the drinks menu. It was just a single laminated piece of paper, double sided, with all their mixed drinks. In al honesty, he was a straight up beer guy but he didn’t want to order anything just yet. Jordan didn’t want to order without having his date already here.

Madelyn had stayed single since she moved back to Hope Harbor and opened her café – that was just how Madelyn had wanted it. After the horrendous relationship with her childs father – she wanted to lay low in case he even got the thought to head to Hope Harbor to look for her & Kaelyn. She would kill him with her bare hands if needed – no one would hurt her daughter. No one. Madelyn still wore the scars inflicted from that relationship – but with the help of her home town, her friends, family, and her daughter.. she moved past it for the most part. Still.. it worried her opening up to a male that wasn’t a friend or family. “It’s one date!” Sydni had exclaimed, “One date! I promise you, he’s a sweetheart, and he’s not mean at all. He LOVES Children! He volunteers at the afterschool program with me – and I swear – if I didn’t think you two would hit it off, I wouldn’t be pushing you for this! You know me better than anyone – I haven’t really had a relationship since college! That was true. It was all true. Madelyn knew how Sydni was – she strayed away from relationships. Sydni was just as closed off as Madelyn was. And this blind date thing.. ugh. Madelyn hated it. But, thankfully, Sydni had eased her into it.. and even agreed to watching Kaelyn. Outside of Madelyn’s mother – Madelyn trusted no one else with Kaelyn other than Sydni. Sydni took care of Kaelyn and was so good with Kaelyn – at least Kaelyn liked Sydni too. That was one of the reasons why Madelyn and Sydni hit it off so well when Madelyn came back into town – Kaelyn. Madelyn had gone through hours and hours of dismay – finding the best outfit. Sydni lent her some clothes since Madelyn felt like she owned nothing date worthy. Now, she walked into Rivalries, searching for the man that met the picture Sydni had showed her. Finally – she found him. He seemed to be searching for her as well. A small smile played on Madelyn’s face once she caught him. He looked exactly like the picture – IF at all possible, better than the picture. Madelyn felt her gasp for air silently. Oh boy..
She approached him, and took the seat next to him. “Hi, Jordan?” She extended her right hand, “I’m Madelyn – I believe Sydni set this up.” The smile still stayed on her face. She wasn’t going to waste the evening hating this idea – and she had decided long before she got here it would be better for both of them if she at least gave this a chance. If she showed up here regretting it and wishing it wasn’t happening – they’d both have a sucky evening – and that wasn’t so good, was it? No, not it wasn’t.

JORDAN POSTED FOR MADELYN Jordan decided to wear this outfit. you should know that I am excited for this thread! HOPEFUL | [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,450,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: #6d6d6d;] Jordan drummed his thumbs along the table top in boredom and nerves. Part of him didn’t know why he agreed to this. He knew he had to get past what his ex-wife had done but it was still hard. He had thought that when he got married that was it-he’d never divorce, have a couple kids, own a home and live out his life teaching. They’d be happy, travel when they felt like it ad live a good life. Then the curve ball. At least it wasn’t his best friend or something like that. Clara was a little classier then that it seemed. Not that someone who cheated on their spouse was classy to begin with. Still, it was at least with someone Jordan didn’t know. That made it easier because the blow out was minimal(only had to cut ties with his ex) and he’d never hear anything about them again. His sister already told him enough about Clara which made moving on ten times harder.
Still, Sydni insisted on this date. Some of his friends insisted on this date even though they didn’t know who it was with. They all felt like he needed to finally get past things. All those people only knew the part of the story not involving his money. He couldn’t very well tell them when as far as people knew he didn’t have any money. That would just get weird to have to explain. He knew he really couldn’t hide it forever but he wanted a little longer. Maybe once out of this funk he could find a girl that wouldn’t be money hungry and actually want to be around him. Dating was easier now that he was out of school. Jordan would actually have time to spend around any girl he was with; give her the attention she deserves and help a relationship grow. Not like what had happened before where it died off because he was focused on throwing himself into a career he loved-not one his parents wanted. Someday he may have to dabble in with the business but for now, he could work as a teacher which was fun for him.
Jordan straightened his back and twisted a little to help with his back. Since he had scoliosis, it sometimes got sore. As a kid he wore a back brace. Something you wouldn’t guess looking at him now. A minute or two after he settled down Madelyn sat next to him. Well that was unfair, didn’t even give him a chance to stand up to meet her. Then again in the life he was raised in one had to have those sort of manners. He turned to look at her and grasped her hand. ”Hi, yeah Jordan nice to finally meet you. Sydni rambles my ears off about you.” Jordan noticed she was very beautiful. He had to admit-he used to be pretty shallow and did like a pretty face. Now he was trying to move past that. Hopefully the personality actually matched the looks. With a nod, he chuckled nervously. ”Yeah, she did. She’s been bugging me to do this for awhile now.” He wasn’t sure what Madelyn knew about his part. He knew she was a single mother and owned that café, Wish. Other then that he didn’t really know much else. The rest he’d find out himself.
”So, um, are you hungry? I already grabbed a couple menus.” He handed her one that was next to him before he wiped his hands along his jeans. ”Sorry I’ve never done a blind date before.”
