Jude was having one of his rough nights. His father had apparently received some letter today that might have a connection to the past event. His dad was flipping out around the office. Honestly, Jude could care less. While he kept the secret he thought it was all ridiculous. What they did was wrong and he thought people deserved to know what had happened. Still, he wouldn’t betray his family because that meant it could tear them apart. Yes, he had extended family but who knows how they’d react if he betrayed the family? His father said that his mother had no clue but Jude couldn’t be sure. All he knew was multiple people in the town knew and had worked to cover it up. If only he knew who then it’d be easier to hate people.
Jude normally wasn’t a hateful person. When he was younger, he was actually quite a happy person. Parties and spending nights with friends were a regular thing of his. Now he came into Rivalries at least once a night for a couple drinks before he headed home. The longer he avoided home the less of a chance of his father getting a hold of him. He hated talking about work outside of the office or work meals. Usually it turned around to things that he didn’t want to talk about. Be it the lack of having someone in his life or that he screwed up on a case. There were times he seriously hated working with his father because of things like that. Still, it was a great opportunity since he liked staying in Hope Harbor. Why was anyone’s guess after everything he was dealing with.
When the bartender brought his usual scotch around, his hand twirled the glass on the bar top. Life in a small town could be awful sometimes. Everyone knew you and your past. Too many girls knew him to be the flirt he was in school, not the guy he was now. Some still tried to hit on him which could be annoying at times. He had been on a couple dates with Sydni which was going well. Those nights he usually avoided drinking which was sort of a step in one direction. He leaned back on the barstool, glad it had a small back so he didn’t fall backwards. A hand reached up to undo the top buttons of his light blue shirt. It led down into his sand colored sweater. The rest of his outfit was just as dressy, typical lawyer wear. No bag was in sight at this time as he left it locked in his car, most papers left at home.
Jude avoided eye contact with anyone like he typically did when he came here. He kept them peeled to one of the television that had the news rolling across it. Not like anything could be heard but it was a great distraction. Better then giving anyone the wrong idea that maybe he did want to talk to people. Most of the people who came here, he didn’t like or didn’t trust. Anyone who was pretty much over forty years old he didn’t trust too much. Jude had no idea if they knew or not and he had as little contact with anyone not around his own age as possible.

Tonight was going to be a fun night! She had just gotten off work and was ready to go out and get some drinks. Maybe flirt with a few boys and have some overall fun. If she could get some time to herself that was. Her boss was a slave driver and at times she was beginning to regret working in fashion but it helped with who she was and what she was doing. A smile on her lips knowing she had all the connections that they wanted but she wasn’t giving them up so soon. They needed to prove that they could use them correctly and not abuse the power that came with those connections.
Tonight she wasn’t going to focus on that, tonight she was going to focus on herself and having fun. It was why she went home and changed before coming out to the pub to get a few drinks before. She had to look perfect if she was going to attract anyone. She pulled up into the bar in her silver Porsche boxster and parked it close so she wouldn’t have to worry when she left later about getting attacked by someone. With everything that was on the news who wanted to risk getting hurt?
As she walked into the bar it was like a hush went across the bar. Her short black Gucci dress clung to every curve of her body while he matching high heels made a great show of showing off her butt. With each step she took her shoes made a clacking noise that could be heard in the silence. She decided to sit down next to the guy in a blue shirt and sweater at the bar. Her Chanel number five strong enough that the male was probably smelling it by now. A hand came up as she brushed her wavy brown locks aside as she gave a devilish smirk to the bartender. Just for affect she added a touch of French accent to her voice. “May I get a Disaronno on the rocks please? “ she watched as the guys seemed to go weak at her accent.
She placed her clutch on the bar in front of her as she turned to look at the guy next to her. A smile on her lips as she measured him up. He really did look attractive. Maybe she wouldn’t mind getting to know him later. Crossing her legs she cleared her throat to get his attention. “Bonjour monsieur, may I ask you your name?” Oh yes, she was going to have to keep up this French thing for right now. A smile on her lips and in her bright green eyes. Now this man looked like he knew how to have some fun. As her drink came she picked it up and took a small sip from it. “Monsieur bartender, may I get one of these for my new friend here?” She gave him a smile and he went to work making it. Now this was the life.

Jude sipped at his drink as some game came on the television. Wait, not the game but a show highlighting all the recent games. There was to be one of the college games on afterwards. With a glance at his watch, he realized he could kill some time around here watching the game. He could watch it at home but really it wasn’t the same. Plus, after having Alex already barging in on him one morning he’d rather have a clean place if that happened again. That whole situation was messed up but honestly, Jude sided with Daniel and Leila on some aspects. He got why they wanted to keep a secret but at the same time, Daniel should have told Alex not to use his key on such and such days. That way those type of awkward situations didn’t happen. Jude was so glad he didn’t have any siblings. If he had a little sister, he didn’t care who it was-that guy would be in the hospital. He had to give props to Alex for not knocking his friend out.
As he finished off his first drink, he asked for a second. Jude leaned back in his chair as he waited. While doing that, he pulled out his phone and scrolled through it. There were a couple new work emails but they could wait a little longer. With a pursed brow, he did reply to one before he tucked it away for the night. If there was an emergency, his parents and Sydni knew to call here if he didn’t pick up at home. Those three only knew because he had told them he usually came by here to grab a bite to eat. Which, he figured he should grab since he couldn’t recall the last time he ate. Jude’s fingers reached for one of the menus as his drink came. Around then the bartender gestured towards the door. While he sipped at the amber liquid, he gazed at a rather elegant woman. A lot more put together then most women who came through here.
Her outfit was high end. Jude may not be up to date on fashion, but he could tell by the way I clung to her body. Even the dresses that looked similar to that were not as well fit on anyone around here. While maybe four months ago he’d jump at an opportunity to introduce himself and perhaps try to persuade her back to his place, not so much now. Instead he shook his head and chuckled, finding it amusing how the bartender practically stumbled over himself. Funny thing was the guy had a girl of his own. Either he didn’t care or she wasn’t that great because he was like a puppy dog. He flipped the menu over to look at the sandwich choice, pretty much figuring out what seemed desirable. Mostly it was to fill him up so he didn’t get too drunk.
When Jude caught her motioning towards him from the corner of his eye, he looked up. It took a second to process what she had said to begin with. ”Oh no you don’t have to do that.” A chuckle left his lips as he turned partially towards her. ”Besides, you’re new in town. Shouldn’t everyone be buying you a drink?”

The way the guy sitting in the stool next to her seemed to not hear when she asked his name made her pout. This was the first time that someone didn’t actually acknowledge her when she walked up and talked to them. It meant that she was going to have to work doubly hard if she was going to entice him to take her back to his place. The smile on her lips didn’t falter as she ordered the drinks. It was then he finally spoke up as if realizing she was there. Her eyes shot up to look into his. Her head tilting to the side as she licked her lips while she inspected him. Yes, he would be desirable enough. “I don’t have to but I am.” She winked as her French accented voice cut through the air.
She was going to lay out the trap and then snap it so she could get what she wanted. There was only one two things she wanted from him. Both she would get tonight if she took this handsome man back to his house. After she crossed her legs she took the time to smooth out her tight dress to stop anything from showing. She would let him get peaks at the right time. “They should monsieur but alas none of them have bought any for moi.” A cute pout played on her lips as she looked to him.
Glancing at the menu she smiled as she took in two things that looked really good. Brushing her hair back she smirked. “If you wish to call us even you can always order the nachos and chicken wings with ranch dipping sauce for us to share.” Food on top of drinks? What better thing to have! She had learned what American men liked and she would be able to deal with it if it meant always getting what she wanted. She looked him over once more as she smiled. This would be a fun night.
The trick was seducing him enough that she would be able to get what she wanted. If he didn’t buy the food then there was always something else she could try. Hopping off her stool she walked up behind him. Casually she gently slipped her hand around on his chest feeling his muscles. Her lips moved to his ear as she breathed out her words in soft French. “ On peut toujours retourner à votre maison si vous voulez me prendre là de se venger à la place.” A grin fell to her lips as she batted her soft eyelashes at him. Gently she leaned in and placed a kiss to his cheek. Now she was getting somewhere. She would have what she wanted in the end. Her eyes looking up to the bartender as he watched the two of them interact.
She had outdone herself this time. All she had to do was wait for his answer and then they could move along. If not then she would find some other way of seducing him.
Translation: We could always head back to your house if you wish to take me there for payback instead.

Jude stared at her curiously. He was used to being hit on but half the time the girls were giggling like little teenagers. That was because half of them grew up in this town and knew his family well. Even he knew that some people had nicknamed him the golden boy. Some used it in awe while others used it to mock him. Not like he cared too much. Sure, he didn’t pay for anything until he graduated college but since then he worked for everything he had. His skills in the courtroom were his own. Despite going to law school, nobody could teach someone how to be a persuasive lawyer. Jude had mastered those skills all on his own. While some thought it was petty, he was very proud of those skills.
A brow went up as she gazed him over. He was trying to refrain himself since he wasn’t really sure what was going on with Sydni. They hadn’t had a first date yet so he didn’t think they were a couple but he also didn’t want word getting around and ruining his chances. Being twenty-eight he had to start getting serious about his life. Still, that didn’t mean he didn’t give her a second glance over himself. What really drew his attention was as she shifted her body and crossed her legs. Jude didn’t know what it was, but a girl with toned legs and a great ass just did him in. ”Well I thank you but the next one is on me. And not because of the puppy dog look. In my line of work, those maneuvers don‘t work on me.”
As he watched her, a half smirk played on the corner of his lips. ”I think that seems like a fair deal. I could use some food anyways. Though honey mustard is best.” Jude winked at her before he laughed. Ok, so he could flirt a little. There was nothing wrong with that. Though him and Sydni texted, they weren’t really serious at this point in time. After the bartender brought their drinks and set them down, Jude told him what they wanted. And until the food came, he asked for some of their rolls which were amazing really. Jude could eat just those and he often did when nervous about things.
While he wrote down Jude’s order, the woman got up and moved behind him. His back straightened as he became highly aware of her every movement. Though he was being cautious, his body reacted to her hand moving along his chest. Despite the sweater and shirt, he could feel everything. Her warm breath on his ear made him shift slightly. What really got him squirming was when she spoke. Jude had taken French though most of what was spoken up here was Canadian French which was really a slang form of French. So he understood her well enough to get her meaning. Jude cleared his throat as he turned his head to look at her. ”As tempting at that is, I don’t like going home with strange women. And you, m’dear, are a strange woman. I don‘t even know your name.”

She was going to get her way no matter what. That was the thing this man that was sitting next to her didn’t seem to understand. She knew in her mind she was going to get what she wanted out of him in the end. How did she know that? Easy, she always got what she wanted in the end no matter what. That was the kind of woman she was and had always been. It was why she was dressed this way right now. It was to get what she wanted and needed from people. The sexier you looked the more they would do for you in the long run. The fact that he was trying to fight her proved a fun challenge.
Her eyes darted back to him as she took another look over his body. He really did look like he was the kind of guy she would go for. She continued to smooth out her dress as he looked her over. A small smile came onto her lips as he brought up where he worked her look wouldn’t work on him. She gave him a flirty smile and then winked. “You’ve never met the master of it.” Just a small warning to him so he knew what he was dealing with. She always got what she wanted no matter what.
Looking at the menu was one of the best things she had done all night. Finding out what sort of food was served here that she could finally try. It had been a long time since she had some American food so she was really eager to try it. When she spoke of honey mustard she shook her head so her hair covered one of her eyes as she looked at him. “I wouldn’t want that to stain my dress in case it spilled.” Yes, she cared about her dress more than the taste. Reaching over she poked him in the side gently. “Unless you have a shirt at your place you would like to lend me if I did get dirty.” See, he didn’t know who he was messing with just yet.
When the rolls came out she took one and slapped a big helping of butter in the middle and took a bite from it. A grin came to her lips as she tasted it. It actually was amazing. Not as amazing as the croissants back at home but it would do. When she finished she cleaned her hands off and took a sip of her amazing drink. Oh the way it burned when it went down just gave her the best feelings in the world. By the time she was standing behind him and he was squirming made a smile come to her perfect lips. As he spoke up she realized he must know some French to be able to reply to what she had said. “ Mon nom est Isabella, quel est votre nom chéri??” Gently she placed a kiss to his neck as she waited allowing her perfume to fill his senses. He was in trouble now. “Savons-nous un de l'autre suffit maintenant de retourner à la maison maintenant?”
Translation 1: My name is Isabella, what is your name darling? Translation 2: Do we know one another enough now to go back to your house now?

Jude was used to being hit on or having girls giggle and point at him. He wasn’t conceited but when it has happened more times then you can count, you weren’t blind to it. Of course, this girl was being blatant on it. Fairly opposite of what he was getting used to with Sydni. And it’s not like he had an obligation to Sydni at this point. They hadn’t even had a real first date. Still, he didn’t just jump into a girl’s bed anymore(or invite a girl into his bed). Pretty much when his drinking started to pick up is when he stopped hook ups. Funny considering that’s when most people had more hook ups as they got drunk. But with Jude’s status in this town, he had to hide his issues very carefully. The number of bottles in his apartment collected over the last two years. He slowly brings them into Hannaford to get his bottle deposit back but otherwise they just pile up in bags under his sink.
He really wasn’t drunk enough for this.
Not that Jude didn’t like women who knew what they wanted but this was surprising. He had never even seen this woman before today. She was definitely new in town and her first idea was to what? Find a man to take care of some sort of needs? There had been plenty of women he had met over the years who had come off strong like this. Some had some underlying issues while some just really wanted to mess around a lot. Jude learned to never question a woman’s motives unless they seemed a bit off. Yeah, off was the best term. She didn’t seem off at all. No, this girl just seemed like she knew what she wanted. ”Well you can try but I have the strongest walls around.” He playfully winked at her before he got about halfway through the drink she had bought him.
He leaned in close to her and grinned. ”I think ranch would stain and look much worse then honey mustard.” Jude knew anymore comments like this and she’d probably feel like she could push him a little more. That and alcohol well, who knew what Jude was capable of. After he pulled away, he shook his head. ”You really know what you want. Still, I do like to be cautious. I have seen too many cases where things get misconstrued after bar encounters.” Now he was pretty much spelling it out that he was a lawyer. He was always cautious about telling new women his career. Once Jude had encountered a women who was blunt that she wanted him because he was a lawyer. That was a bit of a wake up call for him to be more careful about who he dated or slept with in general. Jude wasn’t out to have some gold digger for a wife. He wanted a partner who was driven as well. Even if she didn’t work then getting out there in the community or raising kids. Not someone who expected to be spoiled, have a nanny watch their kids and disappear for days at a time.
Jude’s brow furrowed as the best way to keep his composure. They way she spoke French was true French. Him speaking his “slang” French as it was referred to in order to reply might come off wrong. Having a French Canadian grandmother, he had been raised around the language his entire life. ”It’s Jude and not really.” With a shake of his head he turned to whisper up in his ear. ”I’m not some horny college guy eager to screw anything that comes my way. Now why don’t we enjoy a few drinks, share a lovely snack and go from there.” Honestly it was really, really hard to keep his resolve around her while she acted like this. With her body close to his that just made him want to break down. Still, he held his grounds on what little views he had left. As a lawyer there weren’t many truthfully so the ones he had he stood by.
”Now, Isabella, why don’t you tell me what brought a stunning woman like you to our simple town?” Yes, a change of topic might help things a little. But, knowing her, only just a little.

This was everything she wanted when dealing with someone. If she could find some way to dig her nails into him and wrap him around her finger then she would be good. It was about time she met someone that was worthwhile in this god forsaken town. It seemed like her uncle had lied to her about how this town was. She wanted quiet but not boring and this town was BORING! What else did you expect from her then? She was going to find some way to get all the fun she could before she decided to up and move to someplace else. New York City could be a great place to work in. With her father’s business and his partners she was sure she would be able to help out a fashion magazine or a company.
As she looked this man over once more she decided that he was the one she was going to work to get. If he was dating anyone well that was too bad. She always got what she wanted and right now she wanted this delicious hunk of meat that was sitting right next to her. All she had to do was work her magic a little more and she would be able to win him over, right? Unless he was dating like Adriana Lima or something then she was going to have to work twice as hard.
The way they were carrying on conversation right now she could tell that things could happen between them. All she had to do was continue to tease him and mess around and make that impression and then he would be hers. When he spoke about having the best walls around her eyes went as wide as silver dollars. At his playful wink she smirked and gently stroked her hand down his well toned arm. “I’ve been known to batter down even the best walls, mon ami.” She returned his wink with her own flirtatious one. The man was in for it now! He was bringing out the seductress that was inside of her.
When he leaned in close and told her how much worse ranch would look she couldn’t help but let out a giggle. “Yet ranch tastes so much better.” Gingerly she picked up her drink and took a long slow sip of it before returning her attention back onto him. “I’ve always know what I’ve wanted even from the time I was a little girl.” She furrowed her brows at the hearing about things that had happened after bar encounters. “Mon ami, I am no fool like your American girls. Unlike them I know how to use protection when I am in one of these situations to not come out like them and needing to go to court. Besides, why would I want to be one of those women who get,” she pauses a moment to think of the word, “what is it called? Child support?” Oh no, she was one-hundred times smarter than that.
Not only did he let it known he was a lawyer but he had dealings in child support cases. So he would be able to take care of his girl when he got married or just dated her? That was always a plus side to a man. The one question that remained was if he could handle a woman that made as much or more than he did.
Watching him squirm as he tried to keep composed was almost like a fun game for her. It let her know that she was doing her job and doing it right! Answering her question brought a frown to her lips. So they didn’t know one another well enough yet? Well they would be working on that now. “A lovely snack would be nice, but other things would be nicer.” She teased as her hand gently rubbed on his arm again. When he brought about the change of topic she shifted as she moved her legs to re-cross them. “Well, I’ve always been into fashion seeing as my father works in it. When my uncle told me that this was a nice quiet town I could live and work in I had to take the chance. This way I can make a name for myself and not live on just my father and his associates names.” No way she was riding their coattails through life. “What about you?”

”Then maybe you should become a lawyer if you’re so good at getting through people’s defenses.” If she could make smart alec comments then, well, he could make them back. It was a part of his job and one he really enjoyed. Sometimes he pretended he was arguing with his father. That really got him going at times but that was a while other issue he had to work out. Right now he was trying to figure out this thing with the new girl in town. This was really confusing and this third drink wasn’t helping matters at all. Usually by now he was at home on his way to drinking himself to sleep.
His eyes swept over her as she sipped at her drink. Yes, Isabella knew how to use every aspect of her body to seduce a man. He cleared his throat and turned his attention away as he finished off the drink she had gotten him. Jude nodded to the bartender to order himself another one. He’d need one to get through this until he found a way home. Though he felt a little weird about this he wasn’t going to be rude and just leave, especially when she had bought him a drink. It was just plain manners to Jude. At her mention of child support he shook his head, laughing. ”No that’s not what I meant. I don’t handle family cases just criminal ones. I was referring to when two drunk people have sex. Sometimes a girl regrets it and calls rape because here you can do that. Makes it hard for the women who actually do say no and get raped.” Still, nice to know she was a woman who made sure not to get herself into a sticky situation. Jude hated girls who didn’t think or tried to trap a guy.
”Still, it’s great you know how to not gets yourself into a sticky situation.” After he said that it sounded awkward in his head. Just as awkward as when she made deliberate moves that drew his attention to certain body parts. They were quick glances then he would turn back to either her face or straight ahead. After looking at her legs he looked ahead for a moment because his fourth drink was delivered. Only as he took a sip did he turn to focus on Isabella’s face again. ”Apparently Hope Harbor is crawling with people interested in fashion.” There were a few girls who had hit on him were aspiring to be a designer. When the topic turned to him his spine straightened in awareness. He hated talking about himself mainly because most people knew about his family. Jude never had to talk about himself so when it came to talking about him it was difficult.
His eyes studied the ice that were covered by the amber liquid for a moment before he spoke. ”Eh, the usual story. Born and raised in this small town, went to school and came back to work in the family business. Other then that I’m not that exciting. I am a criminal lawyer and married to my job.” When the food was placed in front of them, he grabbed his dipping sauce and swirled his piece of chicken within it. Ah, fried food, the food for a lawyer’s soul. ”So I’m guessing you like Hope Harbor?” Small talk with strangers was never his thing and that wouldn’t change just because she had blatantly hit on him. In fact, that made things worse for Jude.

She smirked as she reached over and gently stroked his arm. “Darling, I am good at getting and twisting people when I use their emotions and can have one on one time with them. Do you really think me seducing an entire jury in the court room would be legal?” A smirk played on her lips as she thought about if she would be able to do it. In all honesty she probably could but there would be so many objections she would be fired on the spot. When she noticed that Jude was running low on his drink again she eyed the bartender and he brought Jude another drink. A smile on her lips as he returned with another one for her too.
When he cleared his throat and turned away a small smirk played on her lips. Yes! She was getting in and she knew it. There was no way she was going to allow this guy to escape her. What she needed was some fun and this was what this man could be. Hopefully she would be able to get him so drunk he would accept her offer for a ride back to his place. She smiles at him while her eyes search his. “I’ve never regretted sleeping with anyone I’ve been with. All of them have been as attractive as you. A few girls in there once or twice too.” That was always a turn on with the guys.
Taking a nacho off the plate she popped it into her mouth and ate it slowly. Now this was some good food. “Of course darling, I’ve always been good about getting out of them if I’ve gotten into one.” She smiled as she raked her fingers through her hair and then took another sip from her drink. When she noticed he was taking in her legs she shifted so her dress ran up her thigh exposing more of it to him. When she had his attention on her face she grinned. “Yes, but most of those people grew up here and not in someplace like Paris, Milan or London. Those fashion capitals play a major role in someone who is looking to make it in my industry. It helps my father works with the best of the best.” She looked up into his eyes again as she shifted her legs uncrossing them then re-crossing them. “What any fashion designer needs is a good lawyer just in case something goes wrong.” Yes, she was hinting.
As he spoke about his life she listened and hung onto every single word that he had said. It was very important when getting to know someone. She would have him in her pocket soon enough. “You seem like a very exciting person, Jude.” Grinning she tested out a little and patted his thigh. Her other hand reached up and she nabbed a piece of chicken then dipped it in ranch while her other hand stayed on his leg the whole time. Once she swallowed the chicken she looked back into his eyes. “I like it well enough. It’s not New York City but it will do for now.”

Jude rubbed at his check as he shook his head. His brows went up as his widened slightly. ”Well as long as you don’t have sex with them then you technically can. Being a lawyer is all about charming the jury. So some cleavage from the ladies, a nice tailored suit on the men, a little smile and they’re eating out of your hand.” With his third-wait fourth? fifth?-drink in front of him he took another swig. He knew he had downed a few when it didn’t really burn going down. Tonight he wouldn’t need to drink more once home if alcohol was having this effect on him. No, he wasn’t a light weight or anything just here everything was a lot stronger. Plus, with Isabella buying him some as well as him getting his own, he had truly lost count of how many he had drank. That wasn’t a good combination. Jude wasn’t a sloppy drunk but he did tend to let loose a bit.
Honestly, he was a bit shocked with her remark. Yes, Jude was aware some people liked the opposite sex and swung both ways. Still no one he had just met had been so forthcoming. He nearly chocked on his food as she let it out. ”Well I’m flattered and a bit shocked. Not something you hear from someone you just meet. At least not often.” Jude wasn’t embarrassed or anything. Even when something was truly shocking or appalling, he could hold his poker face well. He hated to give too much away least someone gets angry. Besides, his tone held a joking manner so no need for it to come out any other way. She kept being so forthcoming that he just let her next statement pass over. Honestly, what did one say to that? It’s not like he really knew what she meant and he didn’t want to assume anything. That’d just be...awkward.
Jude raised a brow. ”If you were able to study in such places then why come here? Why not stay there where you can get much better exposure?” Once finished that drink, he rubbed his hands together. He knew he should get going soon so he waved off another drink. Honestly, his head was pretty fuzzy. He was teetering between buzzed and drunk at this point in time. Jude wanted to take a moment for the food and alcohol to settle before he walked home which really wasn’t that far away. ”Well, like I said, I’m a criminal lawyer though I know some great liability and business lawyer.” Truthfully, his father’s firm did more just Jude himself didn’t. yet. Eventually he’d have to take over a lot more but right now he liked fighting in court the criminal cases. Within the next year or two, he’d start to transition to general law practice, covering pretty much everything. Wills, custody, business, liability, criminal and everything in between.
Jude took a few more bites of the nachos before he wiped his hands off. ”You apparently are a terrible judge of character.” Oh wow, when was the lat thing Jude did anything classified as “exciting”? A real long time. As he slid off the barstool, Jude threw a fifty and some tens on the bar top, watching the bartender grab them. ”Well, Isabella, I hope you enjoy your time in Hope Harbor. It was lovely meeting you, and I thoroughly enjoyed this chat, but I have a job that requires me being up fairly early so I bid you adieu.” Jude nodded at her after extending his hand. Once he had his hand to himself again, Jude headed out the door. His apartment was about a mile away. A long enough walk to help him sober up some but not too far that required him to drive every time he came. Just how Jude liked it.

When he instructs her one what it is like to be a lawyer and having to charm the jury and all a wide grin spreads on her face as she looks over him. “I think if I did that and became a lawyer then you’d be out of a job.” She winks at him as she puffs out her chest, her cleavage rising and falling with each breath she takes. “See, you wouldn’t stand a chance against me.” She teases him as she reaches over and dunks another piece of chicken into the ranch dressing. Looking at his drink count as it piles up she grins to herself. He was getting nice and drunk. This is where she had been smart while he hadn’t. She only had what, two drinks and only a few sips of the first one before the food came? That was her secret; eat something that soaks up the alcohol before you really start drinking. She was letting the fries be that sponge in her stomach.
Seeing the shock on his face she grinned with pride. Never before had she seen a man in such shock. What was that? Was he a little flustered too? No, it didn’t look like he was. Oh well, she would have to try it again at some other time. Maybe actually show up with a woman and make out with her in front of him. She then contorted her face to one of confusion as she blinked and then blushed. Her French accent really kicking in now. “Oh, please excuse my boldness. I forgot that Americans are not so; how do you say? Forthcoming with your honesty.” Looking down as if she was ashamed she dry washed her hands as she waited for his reply.
As he finally asked her about her career she looked up and smiled at him. “Who doesn’t love a challenge? Besides, if I stayed there then it would do me no good. I would be living under the pressure of my father and having to live up to his expectations from everyone who is there. I decided it would be a lot better to come over here and gain my own image and name this way I wasn’t compared to my father’s work.” It was all in all a sound plan. No one wanted everyone judging your work next to a family member’s and saying that yours paled in comparison to theirs.
When he told her that he was only a criminal lawyer she sighed and looked up at him. “Well everyone needs an incentive to break out of their comfort zone and try something new am I right?” Reaching into her purse she pulled out a thick packet of crisp clean one hundred dollar bills and placed it on the counter in front of him. The band going around the money read ten-thousand. “I am sure this would cover all start up costs? If you need more…” She reached into her purse and pulled out a twin to the one on the bar and laid it next to the other one. “Then that should cover it.” Looking up into his eyes she smiled.
Shaking her head she looked Jude in the eyes. “I’ve never been a terrible judge of character. I can see it in your eyes, your stance and the way you move. It tells me you’re a person I can trust and work with.” Knowing to read people was invaluable when you were in her kind of business. When he gave his leaving speech her eyes widened as he walked out. Grabbing the money she walked out into the parking lot and caught up to him. She gently placed her hand on his arm as they walked. “If I offended you I am truly sorry. Please, let me give you a ride to your home. I would feel better knowing you got home safe instead of trying to walk.”

Jude leaned forward. ”No, it’d just make for an interesting debate. It’d be fun going head to head.” He loved his job best when there was an equally good lawyer in the room. It made for such good theatrics for the jury. His eyes swept over her cleavage before he nodded. ”You do have the right idea though. It’s why I wear tailored suits and shirts just a size to small.” He was much drunker then he wanted to be. Jude hated to be that way in public. He scratched at his head as he thought about that fact. If anything were to happen it’d be his reputation on the line. And his family’s reputation. Not that he gave a fig about it, anyways. For all he cared his father deserved whatever he got.
Jude rubbed at his jaw before he nodded his head carefully. He was trying to figure out how to word what he wanted to say. ”It’s not that I’m just surprised you’d say that with first meeting is all. I’ve met girls who said that but most of the time as a ploy to get a guy in bed. They didn’t seem to mean it like you did.” He drummed on the bar top and only stopped when she mentioned getting pressure form her father. Jude chuckled knowingly. ”I understand that. Overbearing fathers that is.” He paused before he half grinned. ”Is that why you’re so bold? You like to prove to daddy he can’t control his little girl?”
Jude had to be very drunk. Nope, not drunk. She really pulled out a brick of ten thousand dollars. He nearly choked on his own spit as he coughed in shock. ”Umm…” Jude scratched at the back of his neck, not sure how to react. Especially when the second brick was dropped on top. ”Wow this is not the place to pull things like that out. Those should be in the bank.” Jude pushed them back to her before he glanced around to make sure no one was watching. Yes, it was good he was heading home. He was highly considering taking on his first client not appointment by his father. That was a very large incentive. One that could help him out a lot.
As he walked he felt a delicate hand on his arm. Jude shook his head. ”No you didn’t offend me Isabella. I’m just…very drunk. A lot drunker then I get in public normally.” He glanced up and down the road, unsure of what to do. His back stiffened as he contemplated the decision. Honestly, it was probably a better idea. No one should see one of the local lawyers walking home. Drunk. ”Yeah it’s probably a good idea. But keep your money in your purse. You already draw enough attention to yourself in that dress.”

A small giggle left her lips as she shook her head. “There would be no debate my dear. I always win remember?” She teased as she looked into his eyes and smiled. Her hand coming over she gently pat his arm. “ Or have you forgot I’d seduce everyone in the court room.” Winking she plucked up another piece of chicken and ate it down. When he talked about why he wore suit too small she couldn’t help but grin. “I bet that’s a good sight to see. A nice firm ass in some pants that are way too small.” Well now that made her want to grab his ass and see how firm it really was.
Watching him as he moved and spoke was almost entrancing. She was going to listen to everything he said and make sure to remember it. With a grin she looked him dead in the eyes. “Most girls aren’t French, it’s what we do. We all go through some experimental stage in our live as we grow up. I just liked it too much to not want to give it up.” It looked like they both had something in common with how their fathers were. “That’s exactly why I’m so bold. He doesn’t think I’ll make it but I’m damn well going to prove him wrong. He just doesn’t see he cannot control me anymore and I’m going to do what needs to be done for myself without his help.” Winking she picked up her drink and slammed it back taking it all in at once.
The look on his face when she placed the brick of money in front of him caused a fit of giggles to leave her lips. “This is nothing compared to what I have in the bank. I don’t need to worry about it.” When he pushed them back she placed them back in her bag as he looked to make sure that no one was watching. Oh she was going to have to get him another way then.
Outside the bar when she had caught up to him she smiled when he told her that it wasn’t her fault that he had left. “All the more you need to stick by me and not go off alone. I don’t want anything happening to you. Not if you’re going to be my new lawyer.” Grinning she led him back to her car as he finally accepted her help. When he mentioned that her dress was a revealing in itself she tugged at it when he wasn’t looking so more of her cleavage was exposed to him. After she helped him into the car she walked over and got into the driver’s side and slipped in next to him. Buckling up and then leaning over to help him buckle was fun. When her eyes came up she looked into his eyes then leaned in planting a surprise kiss to his lips.
After a second she moved back to her area and started the car up. Putting it in gear she pulled out and started driving in the direction he had been walking. “So where do you live?”

”Well we can give it a try sometime. See who would win when going head to head. With only one person to moderate so no seducing the jury.” While Jude was just trying to be friendly, who knew how Isabella could take it? In his state it didn’t sound too terrible in his head. He shrugged in response about his pants. Not like he would know. He didn’t check out his own ass and didn’t check out the asses of other guys. So, he’d have to take her word about seeing a guys firm ass in their pants.
”American girls experiment too. Just not everyone is proud of it. Or maybe just my group of friends that is.” Jude did have a mostly conservative group of friends. Sure, there were some who were gay and he didn’t care but none of them bragged about their sex lives. There was occasionally talk amongst the guys and he was sure amongst the women but never out in the open like this. ”Well how can you prove him wrong using his money? Sorry for being presumptuous but I don’t know many people your age with that kind of money unless it was handed down by their parents. I should know.” Especially twenty grand along with whatever else she had like she was bragging about.
Jude’s mouth flattened in thought. He did have to keep a clean reputation. He knew what one rumor could ruin someone’s career in this small town. Even if it was his father’s firm, he knew his father would choose to keep his practice open rather then keep him around. His father was always more concerned about his image then his son’s feelings. Still, he had to think before getting in that car. ”That’s kind of you but again, nothing says I’m going to be your lawyer. I told you, I mostly handle the criminal cases around here. My father and his partner handle everything else.” Well, the fairly silent partner. Eddie Stevenson rarely practiced anymore, mainly handled wills. Sometimes Jude handled a couple of the cases if his father or Eddie were overwhelmed that particular day.
Jude sat in the car and leaned his head back, trying to keep himself level-headed while Isabella got settled in. he started to drift on when he realized he should think about buckling up or else him and Isabella could be fined. Stupid Maine laws. He cleared his throat as he adjusted himself which provided just enough space for Isabella to reach over apparently. ”Umm I may be a little drunk but I am still sober enough to know-” Nope, Jude didn’t get to finish his sentence before Isabella sneak attacked him. Jude cleared his throat and pointed west, away from the water. ”A couple miles that way, on East Shore Drive. It’s a wooden house with a flat roof and a gravel driveway. I live around back.”
Jude looked between the front window and out his side the rest of the ride. He just wanted to get home and crash. Once they pulled up to where his apartment was, Jdue turned to Isabella and smiled while he unbuckled. ”Thanks for the ride. And the drinks. You staying in town for awhile?”
