[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style,width: 350px; padding: 10px; background-image: url(http://i48.tinypic.com/4v3fjd.png);] I would lie & say that you're not on my mind... Haven was probably a lot more excited about this dinner then she should be. She had invited Louis over to make a dinner in apology for how Clark had acted nearly two weeks ago. The two of them-her and Louis that is-had been texting constantly since then. They didn’t actually talk on the phone but it felt nice to have him as a friend. There may be the slightly flirty comments thrown here or there but nothing major. Mostly she was just glad to have someone back in her life she felt so comfortable with. Now Haven was constantly happy and plenty of people had noticed it about her. She just shrugged it off and said it was because soon enough Clark would stop working in Augusta. Though that was up in the air. After his little debacle at the Charity Ball the firm in town was hesitant about hiring him and she couldn’t blame them. His temper these past ten days was out of control. Thankfully he was in Augusta so they just ended up fighting on the phone. That was good enough for her until things were straightened out.
After Kylie had informed her that she’d be going to Chicago for a couple days and that Cameron was going she took the opportunity to invite Louis over. Since that night things had been weird. Kylie and Cameron seemed to avoid talking about Clark all together but that‘s because Haven was upset with them. They had accused him of cheating though neither of them actually ay him doing anything. It was a bit agitating but she was trying to ignore it and let go. Haven had enough to deal with, with the wedding coming up. No not hers but a local couple in town. Their mothers wanted to best of everything which meant a lot of flowers. Especially roses since it was Valentine’s Day. That on top of her normal Valentine’s orders. This is why she hated February. In one day she could have a couple hundred orders and with the wedding that day would be stressful for her. As soon as everything was set up with the wedding, though, she planned to go spend time with Clark instead of sticking around. Better then being at a wedding alone.
Haven was making dinner when her phone rang. When she saw the name on the caller id she wasn’t sure whether to pick up or not. Her instincts told her not to. She really didn’t want a fight tonight. A glance at the clock told her it was right around six pm. She grabbed her cell this time and shot him a text saying she was out with friends then would be taking her sleeping pills so she’d call in the morning. After the latest debacle with Louis, Haven’s insomnia had gotten worse. So bad that she went to Cameron for help. He set her up with a friend of his and together they got Haven what she needed to help her sleep. Now when she slept it was deep and nothing could wake her. If only it kept all her dreams away. Some nightmares of her foster care days still crept in but at least her mind no longer raced.
Haven had the television going but just for background noise. After the severe abuse she endured in one of her foster homes, Haven had to have some sort of white noise at all times. There was even a little machine in her room to help soothe her. There was only one person who had ever made her feel safe enough to not need her sound machine and that was Louis. That had taken a lot of breaking down to do but once that major wall came down all the smaller ones had started to crumble. Then when he left, Haven was easily able to put those bricks back together and move on. Of course she carried some bitterness because of it but Haven never needed to care for anyone. Until Kylie and even then Haven wasn’t letting her all the way in. Until recently. Before Louis had gone to the hospital at the Charity Event she promised to try with Kylie and that’s what she was doing. The first thing? Haven told Kylie everything about Louis and had even shown her the trunk of memories. Then she went a lot more in depth about being afraid Kylie would walk out of her life for good; that once her fashion career took off she wouldn’t even have time for a phone call or emails. Kylie was Haven’s only family. After Louis had walked out on her the way he did, if Kylie did the same thing Haven may not recover so easily. She hadn’t told Kylie that but the melancholy feeling that surrounded her never eased up. Now that Haven had told Kylie maybe she could start to heal like she once was four years ago. Except now, since her happiness wasn’t wrapped around a guy, she hoped it would be easier to work through her anxieties.
When Haven heard the front door she set her cooking utensils aside. Not caring about her apron she walked to the door while she licked some of the sauce off her thumb. She dropped her hand from her mouth as she opened the door. ”Hola mi amigo. Come on in. The food is very nearly done. I decided to experiment with something I found on pinterest. It sounded delicious so I just went with it.” Haven thought about making his favorite dish but that seemed like too much. Instead she was doing a slow cooked chicken with honey, soy sauce, barbecue sauce and some seasonings. It seemed weird at first but the smell emanating from the slow cooker was mouth watering. Now that Louis was here she flicked off the television. ”So have you gone down to do any recordings yet or still holing yourself up in dark corners trying to figure out which songs to record?” Since she told him that she forgave him at the Charity Ball, Haven felt a lot more at ease talking to him about anything. Except Clark. That was one subject that was too awkward to discuss with Louis. He was sometimes mentioned briefly but other then that, Haven avoided talking about her fiancée to Louis in general. And the same was reverse. Especially since she had paid Louis bail and then some extra for no one in the police station to file it in the local paper since minor arrests usually were. Then she had left and told no one-not even Clark-but Clark was suspicious. Not even Louis knew she had done that and she intended to keep it that way. The only reason she did it were to avoid his parents getting involved and bad press. There were already photos of that night circling around along with some videos but nothing that was implicating. notes: <3 - tags: louis - outfit: click! |

Post by LOUIS ARDEN FITCH on Feb 28, 2013 9:40:01 GMT -5
Things had been so crazy since Louis had decided to come back to Maine and take a break from his musical life for a while. He had come back hoping he could win his college sweetheart (though saying "college sweetheart" seemed to belittle what their relationship was), back. But he returned to find she was engaged and of course not happy to see him. But who could blame her. Louis had left without even saying goodbye and not returned for four years. He couldn't expect to just waltz in and sweep her off her feet. Neither had he expected to. Louis had known there would be some groundwork to lay. Haven had always had trust issues and he was sure he compounded them. Now he was going to do everything he could to patch this all up and have her in his life whatever way he could, even if it was just friendship. But Louis didn't really believe it would be friendship forever, because Haven had proven to him at least 3 times in this month he'd been back, that she was still in love with him. Since the Charity Ball, Louis and Haven had been texting a lot. Haven had made first contact and of course Louis had replied. But he hadn't expected her to keep texting back. However, he was very glad she did. He wasn't sure if it was because she really did want to talk to him, or if it was just that she felt guilty because of what had happened between him and Clark. Haven didn't need to feel guilty. It wasn't as if she controlled Clark's every move. In fact, it seemed quite the opposite. If anyone's every move was being controlled, it was Haven's. Louis couldn't shake the feeling that Haven was living in a prison constructed by her fiancee. Louis was really surprised when he received an invitation to dinner at Haven's place. She assured him Clark was out of town, so there was no way he could bust in on them for round 2 of their Charity Ball fight. And so he readily accepted. Louis was both excited and nervous to dine at Haven's. He wasn't sure exactly why he'd been invited. But again he suspected it was because she felt bad. But really he did harbor some hopes that perhaps Haven was going to talk to him about them starting over and seeing if they could make this thing work. Louis wouldn't make that known though. That would only cause unneeded tension between them. Arriving at Haven's place, Louis got out of the car and went up to the door and knocked. He'd wanted to bring flowers or something, just as a kind gesture. But it might have been taken as more than that, and she'd have to get rid of them before Clark got home. So it seemed pointless. Louis smiled when she opened the door, and stepped in. A delicious aroma hung in the air. Oh I see...So I'm your lab rat, eh? he teased. No really, it smells delicious Louis looked around the house as he followed her to the kitchen. It was gorgeous and there were so many attributes to it that they had planned together, for their own house. He was glad to know that she had done what she wanted with it, despite him not being there to do with her like planned. He watched her as she shut off the tv. Of course he knew why she had it on and that made him sad. Haven couldn't be alone in a quiet house. Her past haunted her too much for that. But when she and Louis had been together, that had gone away. Now it was back? Louis wondered just how far Haven had reverted to her old self. You've done a great job with this place...it's beautiful. Louis laughed at her question and nodded a little. Yah, pretty much. He sat down at the kitchen table. I've been writing some stuff and the guys in the band have too. Basically we need about 40 songs and then we'll pick about 16 of those and put them on the new album...the producers are thinking of doing a live album...but nothings been decided and no contracts have been signed yet. He explained. How goes the flower shop? He inquired, genuinely interested.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style,width: 350px; padding: 10px; background-image: url(http://i48.tinypic.com/4v3fjd.png);] I would lie & say that you're not on my mind... When it came to her contact with Louis, only Jesse knew what she was doing. Kylie seemed to know what she was doing but didn’t ask questions. Everyone knew Haven wasn’t one who would cheat-ever. This was just talking. That didn’t mean they approved. She wasn’t sure if they did or not but she had a feeling of which one Jesse thought and which one Kylie thought. As long as no one told Clark or any of his friends then things were fine. Not that it should matter. Clark had his female friends after all, Haven should be allowed male friends. Even if it was a bit complicated, her and Louis were friends. Clark would just eventually have to get over it. She already gave up and into so much for him, he should be able to give into this one thing for her. Just one.
”Why yes, yes you are. And I’m not telling you what’s in it until after you’ve tried it.” She grinned widely at him over her shoulder as she padded along to the counters. She slipped one of her slippers off and put her foot on a slightly open drawer as she gave the couscous one last mix. She had the sleeves on her long sleeve dusty purple top rolled up. Haven wore jeans wanting to be as covered up as possible. She didn’t think Louis would act in any inappropriate manner but she just felt better about it. She didn’t want to give any mixed signals. She knew she had already done enough of that. That’s why she made sure to have a tank top on underneath her shirt. It was sad that she felt like she had to come down to this to control herself. Besides, Clark liked it when she dressed on the modest side so she did it all the time and not just when he was around. If he were to get into politics she’d have to do this all the time anyways.
Haven eyed him as he looked around the house. She had tried not to put too much into the place that she wanted but it had been hard. They had talked so in depth. There were thinks she had changed her mind on after he left and then certain things Clark gave his opinion on but that didn’t change everything. Over time she’d probably push those things out but not drastically. It was comforting to her. Haven needed something comforting. ”I’ll just be happy when I can get to the both the barns this summer. I know I want to keep one as is so I can get a couple horses but I’m not sure what to do with the other one yet. Maybe use it for storage for now.” When Haven bought the property she hadn’t known about the second barn. It was down by the small pond and was more of fishing shed then anything. Just a large fishing shed. It was sure to be a nice place to be come summer time to get away.
Haven listened as she turned off the slow cooker and began to put the food on serving platters. ”What about some of your old stuff? I know you didn’t release everything you’ve previously written or does your manager want all new stuff?” She knew that was playing with fire as there was a good chunk of his old work which was about her, about them. But it was really good-and she wasn’t being biased because of the contents of the songs. Haven genuinely thought they should be heard by other people. Haven wiped her hands with a cloth after getting some of the sauce up her forearm. ”People like live albums nowadays. Especially ones accompanied by dvds. You know the whole behind the scenes of tour life, interviews and just general shots of the concert. Not everyone can afford concert tickets in this economy so live cds and dvds are a great thing to have.”
Haven brought the chicken and couscous over before she grabbed the steamed vegetables she had made. She had already set the table before he came by. The thought of candles had crossed her mind but she decided against it. She had a flower arrangement which was a practice one for the wedding arrangements she had to do. ”What do you want to drink? Wine, beer, water, iced tea, milk?” Haven walked into the kitchen to get some iced tea for herself and Louis drink before she came back and settled at the table. ”Uh it’s crazy right now. There’s a couple-the Zakarian’s son and his fiancée actually-who are getting married next month. On Valentine’s Day. So I have to make well over a hundred arrangements for that, plus the bouquets and boutonnieres all on top of my normal Valentine’s orders. I have a feeling that week I will not be sleeping much at all and will need to get away after that just to regain my sanity.”
Haven sipped at her iced tea and licked at her lips before she started to serve herself. The chicken had shrunk quite a lot form their previous size but still looked mouth watering. After she had everything on her plate she eyed Louis and chuckled. ”So did the Zakarian’s ask you back to play at their wedding, Rocky?” She couldn’t help but find the thing a little amusing now. That night she could tell Louis was pretty beat but he still went out swinging. Literally.

Well it never killed me before, guess I'll be ok this time. Louis replied, as if he was resigning himself to whatever fate happened to befall him at Haven's dainty hands. Louis had noticed how covered up she was. How could he not, compared to what she'd been wearing at the ball. But he didn't mind. Louis found her attractive in any form and there was just something about a girl that protected her modesty. It made her that much more attractive and desirable. Most men weren't as big a pig as women seemed to think they were. Wow, two barns Louis sounded impressed. Haven had done very well for herself. It was just a mark of shame on Louis that she had, had to do it on her own Louis enjoyed horses. That was something else he and Haven had always discussed having. He hoped that worked out for her. Maybe he would make it work for her....But that was probably not a good idea. He didn't want to step on anyone's toes....especially Clarks. Louis was going to do his very best to steer clear of that guy as much as humanly possible. No it doesn't have to be new stuff...just not previously recorded. he explained. Louis shrugged a little at the idea of recording some of the old stuff. It was all pretty much about him and Haven. I'm afraid Clark might come and hunt me down and murder me....I'm sure he's going to be taking a new interest in my career. Louis chuckled softly. but it wasn't a joke. Not really. Clark probably was going to be keeping tabs on Louis. He just seemed that kinda guy. Controlling, didn't like anything out of the ordinary, didn't like to be wrong about things, or have things go wrong, and didn't like people near what was his, aka Haven. Yah, that's kinda what we were thinking. Long process. But it'll be worth it in the end. Louis watched Haven has she began to serve their food. The domestic atmosphere suited her well....Any atmosphere suited her well. Haven was, what she was, and that was gorgeous and attractive, and just plain hot. That looks amazing. Louis told her, when she set the plate in front of him. Looking up at her, he answered her question Um...wine please. Louis smiled and though he picked up his fork, he waited for her to return before beginning to eat. Taking a bite, he nodded as he chewed and swallowed before commenting Ok...spill the beans...what'd you do to it? It's amazing. Wow...sounds like you're very successful....You have staff to help you with all that though, right? Louis asked, before taking a sip of his Chardonnay. He'd always liked a white wine as opposed red. Red tended to be bitter and it aways gave him heartburn. White was much more pleasing to the young Mr. Fitch's palate. It wasn't surprising to him that Haven was doing such a booming business. Everything she touched seemed to turn to gold. Some people were just like that, y'know. Louis laughed out loud, grinning at her calling him rocky. Uhhhh....no. He took another bite of his moist chicken, enjoying the intense and unique flavor. I have a feeling they won't want to be seeing me any time soon. Louis was a bit embarrassed that he and Clark and made a scene at the Zakarian's shindig. But hopefully they would forgive and forget. In a small town, that rarely happened though. I think my boxing days are over....At least...I hope so. Louis really did not enjoy fighting. But it just had to happen sometimes. How's Kylie and Cameron? Louis inquired. I'm probably on their most hated list. Yah, he was quite sure he hadn't scored any brownie points with them. But he was sure Clark hadn't either....or at least he hoped.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style,width: 350px; padding: 10px; background-image: url(http://i48.tinypic.com/4v3fjd.png);] I would lie & say that you're not on my mind... Haven turned and shoved Louis playfully in the arm. ”Hey! At least I never caught the stove on fire trying to make eggs. I trust your cooking skills have improved since then? Or has being on tour made you go all sort and spoiled?” Haven was only teasing. If she knew Louis, and she did, he would have never let that happen. When he first came home, she thought that he wasn’t the man she knew. In some sense he wasn’t. he had matured and his days touring had made him worldly. That may be cliché but it was fairly true. She thought he avoided Maine because he didn’t want his parents to bother him about everything going on in his head but she had a feeling there was more to it then that. Have had an inkling as to what it was but wouldn’t say anything least she sound arrogant.
Haven nodded in response to his exclamation. ”Yeha, actually I had no clue about the second one. I was outlining the property line with a fence and that’s when I found it down by the pond. Either the realtor had no idea or just didn’t tell me because it’s falling apart. Pretty much on the foundaion and framing structure is salvageable. Everything else is rotted out.” Haven was itching to knock down the walls but the rest would be left to Kylie’s boyfriend to do in exchange for something she was helping him with. Seemed like a fair enough trade. She saved way more money that way. plus, the two could bond. It seemed like her sister and this guy were quite serious despite the short time frame. Haven hoped that Kylie’s relationship with Cameron worked out unlike hers with Louis had.
Haven put on a tense smile and breathed in through her nose. Her chest rose as she held her breath. ”Well he’ll have to get over it. If it’s what your manger likes then it’s what your manager likes. As long as I’m not having an affair he’ll get over it.” Haven fidgeted in taking her apron off as she spoke. ”Besides, what can he do? Sue? None of the songs are about him. Try to punch you again? I’m pretty sure you’re aware this time and security at your concerts wills top him.” She probably shouldn’t be talking about Clark like this to Louis but she just wanted to put Louis mind at ease. He had his career to worry about first, not her nor Clark. ”If you want to see if you’re manager is interested I say go for it if that’s what you want.” Haven already knew she’d buy a copy of his cd. Or dvd, whatever. If he came out with each, she’d buy each. Just now she was much more careful in making sure they were safely locked away in her trunk. She kept the key on her at all times so Clark couldn’t get to her things. Those were her memories she wasn’t willing to let go of yet.
As Haven served Louis his food, she caught a whiff of his scent. His shampoo and soap mixed with his cologne. The scent was like an old friend in and of itself. You know how they say scents are powerful when it comes to emotions? That was true. Over the years whenever she smelled his cologne in her vicinity she’d desperately search for Louis but he was never there. It felt like a whole new heartbreak all over again. At least she was able to gather her wits while she gathered their drinks. She left the bottle of wine close to him while the small pitcher of what iced tea remained was close to her. She laughed as she swallowed a bite of her chicken. ”Believe it or not it’s ketchup, soy sauce, and honey with garlic and basil. Never thought to combine them. Got to love pinterest.” As she laughed again she had to bring a napkin to cover her mouth before she choked on some food that had gotten lodged. ”It’s how I learned to do a bunch of stuff for the house. Saved me money on having a contractor to do more then what I really needed from him.”
Louis had once said he would help her build her dream home. They’d go about ripping up the boards of this place and replacing them. Painting, picking out fixtures and furniture. Maybe one day doing renovations for a nursery. All long gone. Clark never had an interest in doing renovations so she had been left to decide everything on her own. She hired someone to do most of the hard labor she was afraid to do on her own and the rest she had worked on slowly. Perhaps that’s why she kept much of the vision her and Louis had shared; because she had no other ideas. Clark didn’t have input and all the contractor suggested was to leave as much of the original structure up as possible. So Haven just went with it and this was the result.
Haven leaned back in her chair and looked across the table at Louis while she shrugged. ”I guess. The first year I was open I didn’t have much going on so I literally just worked the store or practiced arrangements all day. More hard work then anything.“ Not just hard work but depression. The shop had been what kept her distracted when she continued to pull herself out of her dark place. Louis really didn‘t have to know that, though. ”I do but only one is skilled enough to help me with an event this large scale. Maybe one other employee. The other two are strictly on Valentine’s bouquet duty which is easy enough. Take a dozen or so roses, arrange them together, wrap ‘em up and put them out for customers to buy. Nothing real hard about that.” Haven was more stressed about everything going just right. If she nailed this wedding that would be huge for her. The Zakarian’s were upper class-way upper class. If she pulled this off hopefully they spread the word to other people they knew. Even if she didn’t get more weddings, any event would be fine with her. Large scale events is what helped her business thrive.
Once Haven was part way done her food she started to pick at it lightly with her fork. She had never had a large appetite as she didn’t get large meals in the system. Some of the parents were either stretched thin monetary wise because of the amount of kids or withheld food in general. It’s why she took vitamins to make up for it. It really was unfathomable the extent of suffering she went through mentally, physically and emotionally growing up. Still, Haven pushed through. Even with Louis she only told him everything once and never spoke of it again. Even when she had a night terror, which had been decreasing when with him, all she did the first few times was say it had to do with her childhood. Then after that she didn’t even have to say that, especially since she went from having them about nightly, to a three or four times a week, then down to once a week or even less then that. He left, her anxiety went up and they all came back. Now she just learned to live with it like she had before she had met him.
She took another small bite of food and chewed it over before she nodded. ”Well you never know. I’m sure they’ll be so happy after the wedding they’ll forget about it. At least it didn’t get to the news. Well, aside from your fan boards but we all know those aren’t reliable.” She was very careful with how she said everything has she hadn’t told him what she did. She had drained out all her stocks and a good chunk of her savings which had been meant for her wedding and more work around the property. It had been that important to get him out and avoid a blemish on his career that she had tapped into her savings. Only Jesse knew about her actions. Perhaps Kylie would soon enough. ”They’re fine.” Haven cleared her throat as she chuckled nervously. ”Honestly I’m not sure what they think. I know Kylie was fairly pissed when I finally told her about us.“ She paused and broke eye contact as she said that before she gazed back at him. ”And Cameron keeps muttering under his breath if you come up for some reason. Which...um do you two know each other? I saw you two arguing at the Charity Ball and it seemed like you already knew one another.”

Owww! Louis whined and rubbed his arm where Haven had pushed it, pretending that it hurt, but it hadn't really of course. Rolling his eyes, he tossed his head back. Will you ever let me live that down? He laughed. Louis really didn't mind her teasing him about it. After they'd put the fire out, it had been pretty funny. Louis still wasn't quite sure how he'd managed it. In fact, no one had bee able to figure it out. The only thing Louis could think was that maybe the oil he'd been using to cook with, and dripped on the side of the pan and trailed down and caught fire. That had been quite the adventure. Louis nodded. I have actually....I'm friends with a couple of people who are chefs and they were kind enough to show me a couple things....I think they thought I might starve if they didn't....or poison myself with my own cooking. He smiled. Yah he'd been a really bad cook for a number of years. But he had the feeling that these days, Haven would be quite impressed with his cooking. Perhaps sometime he'd get the chance to show off his skills for her. I cook for the band a lot of times. We have a kitchenette on the tour bus. They like to go out too though. So sometimes it's just me. Louis did enjoy eating out now and again at a nice place, but he was still frugal. He was worth millions, but still frugal. He didn't spend $300.00 on a dinner or $1,000 on a pair of shoes or other clothing item. He didn't buy fancy cars, and he didn't live in one of those Soho apartments. In fact, Louis had a modest little place in Greenwich Village, unlike the rest of the band. But he didn't mind of course. They made their choices and he had made his. So you're gonna have it rebuilt eventually? Louis asked, in reference to the 2nd barn, the one that was falling down. Louis had always been impressed with Haven's ambition about projects and stuff like that, in life. And he'd always found that it mad her even more attractive. Now as absolutely no different. Louis laughed as Haven seemed to be saying that Clark could just shove it. He couldn't help but wonder how this marriage was going to work between her and Clark. They both seemed rather indifferent to one another. Except for when Louis was talking to Haven. She seemed to be just a play thing for Clark. Someone that he could control, that would do everything in her power not to step his toes and try to make him happy. In fact, Louis knew that Haven was just a toy to Clark. Just like the rest of the women he was going around banging. He didn't truly care about any of them. They were all just there to meet his sexual desires. How could one guy fool so many women....Well actually Louis didn't know how many women it was. But he could imagine. Guys like Clark didn't limit themselves. Ok....I'll record the songs. he smiled. If my manager approves. Yah I kept hearing about this Pinterest thing...Mom finally showed me what it was... Louis laughed a little Dad's even been using it for inspiration for his painting...I thought it was just a chick thing. Louis wasn't much of a tech person. He had a cell phone, but that was about it. He'd never owned a computer, never had an email, or a facebook, never had any websites he'd wanted to visit. His bandmates had tried to convert him, but Louis was a bit old fashioned in this too and wouldn't be converted. He was of the opinion that all this technology was going to be the downfall of this society. Louis looked around him and saw millions of people so buried in the own lives and computers and smart phones and ipads and androids and the list goes on and on, that they couldn't pull themselves away and look at what was going on around them. Well I'm sure you'll manage it all very well, just the same. Louis said encouragingly. He'd always let Haven know that he had a lot of confidence in her. She'd been one to doubt herself or to think she wasn't good enough to do this or that. He'd always been there to build her up and tell her she could do anything she put her mind to. Louis believed in her. One can only hope! he said with a chuckle. Fan boards? Haven followed his fan boards? That was funny. Sweet and encouraging, but somehow he found it funny. Fan boards eh? he raised an eyebrow at her, then winked. You policing them to make sure they're not spreading nasty rumors about me? Louis really hadn't even known that there were fan boards devoted to him, not having a computer and all. But he was quite flattered. It seemed awkward to him to have whole sections of websites devoted to him though. He was just a man with a guitar, who knew how to put words together. Nothing special. Louis had wondered who had paid his bail. Not even his parents knew. He thought maybe it had been Haven. But decided not, because Clark would have found out and that would have caused problems for her. Maybe Cameron, but they weren't really each other's biggest fans at the moment. So yah, he was pretty much bewildered and clueless on the subject. Had he known it was indeed Haven, he would have insisted on repaying her, even though she would have refused. Well I guess she kinda has the right to be Louis said, scratching the back of his head, which was still a bit sore. And his nose still had some skin colored tape over it, so it wasn't too terribly noticeable. It had to be on there for about two - three more weeks. It as a painful break, but fortunately, not so bad that he'd needed cosmetic surgery. Oh....Um...Cameron and I met in Portland in December. I was at a bar there and he was there and we just got to talking...never exchanged names...Just talked....Imagine my surprise when I found out that was your sister's boyfriend...small world, eh? Louis hoped Haven didn't ask any more questions. He wasn't sure if Cameron had told Haven about Clark cheating on her and Louis didn't really want to be the bearer of bad news. Especially since it would have seemed he was only saying it to make his "competition" look bad. Taking the last bight of his Chicken and Couscous, Louis washed it down with the last drop of wine in his glass That's the best meal I've had in months...Thank you. Getting up from the his chair, Louis grabbed his plate and hers, along with their silverware and put their glasses on top of that and took them to the sink. He turned on the water and began to rinse them, before placing them in the dishwasher. Louis had always been really good about helping where it was needed and wasn't the type to say "oh that's a woman's job" or any of that nonsense.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style,width: 350px; padding: 10px; background-image: url(http://i48.tinypic.com/4v3fjd.png);] I would lie & say that you're not on my mind... Haven rolled her eyes at Louis acting like it hurt. ”Oh boohoo.” Haven stuck her tongue out as she shook her head. This came so easily between them now that the air was cleared. It really was like nothing had ever happened. ”Uh no. I mean, seriously? Who catches eggs on fire? That is one of the easiest things in the world to make.” At least scrambled eggs were. The landlord had not been happy when Haven called him up about the stove. Truthfully the thing wasn’t that great anyways and after that Haven had a reason to ask the landlord for a new one. Being on a strict college student budget, Haven pretty much only ever ate at home those days. Lately it was the opposite unless Kylie was here. It got lonely cooking for only yourself after awhile.
”I would’ve agreed with them. I think I can count on one hand the number of decent meals you made and most of them I showed you how to make.” To Haven it seemed like Louis had jumped forward leaps and bounds while she just fell backwards. She may have a successful business and own her own home but otherwise she felt stuck in neutral. Half her friends were getting married and starting families while she couldn’t get Clark to even set a definite date outside of “this summer”. not that she was rushing to the alter but she was just wondering when her life would start. That and with following prey to her own demons she was just a little girl lost in the woods. ”Well I’d have to hear testimony from the other guys on if it’s really that good or not. Only then will I believe you,” she uttered as she winked playfully.
Haven nodded as she reached up with both hands to scratch at either side of her head. ”Mhmm. Cameron’s actually going to do it since Clark doesn’t really have time to. Him and I are going to tear it down then he’ll get it put back up. I’ll have someone come do the wiring then he and I will do the rest of the interior. Easy enough.” First Haven had to save up a bit more money to have an electrician come in. She’d also need one to come in for the main barn plus have a small half bath put in and a a second well put in just to run to that building. Haven also wanted some sort of heating system so the horses wouldn’t freeze come the unpredictable Maine winters. With half her savings gone, she really had to chose between getting things for the wedding and things to do around the property. Her ambitions of having horses would just have to wait.
”You don’t have to just a suggestion. Especially where you guys need to come up with forty songs.” Haven shrugged. She had always been encouraging of Louis’ career, even after they were separated though he didn’t know that. She was glad he had done so well for himself in life. To her it seemed like he got everything he wanted out of life. She had just been a place holder until something better came along and he got that something better. That was wonderful for him and truly she was happy for him. She had, and still did, love him so no matter if that other person still loved you or not you couldn’t help but want the best for them.
”I pretty much only use it for recopies, tips for stuff around the house and work. I sometimes find great floral arrangements not in any of my books on there.” Plenty of people used it for silly things like pictures of celebrities and that just wasn’t Haven. She laughed out, ”No it really isn’t. It’s like having a permanent bookmarks folder without worrying about it getting lost.” She knew Louis had never been a fan of those things. He used it for classwork and that was it. He had always been simplistic. In some sense, Haven was with him. She hadn’t updated her laptop until a few months ago, using the same one from college and just had a basic phone. But with her business she needed to keep up all the latest trends in the floral business and the internet was the best way. Plus online networking was always great for growing your business. Where she had to compete with other big city floral shops, Haven took any advantage she could.
Haven smiled shyly. She couldn’t remember the last time Clark had said anything that showed he had confidence in her and her business. Maybe she was just forgetting because of all they fighting they had been doing lately. When in a relationship sometimes when there was more bad then anything else one person had a tendency to forget all the good. That’s why Haven wasn’t rushing to end things with a couple bumpy months of their relationship. She was hopeful it would all smooth out eventually.
Haven chuckled as she blushed lightly. ”Something like that.” Her throat cleared out of nerves. ”Plus some photos from that night ended up online.” Her shoulders shrugged up. It was bound to happen. There were some people around Jesse’s age-nineteen, twenty, twenty-one range-and those were the ones who were usually a bit more obsessive and eager o put photos up. They wanted to have that “big scoop” though there wasn’t too much of a scoop there. ”You really need to get a computer. Or at least use someone else’s to check them out. They’re, um, interesting.” Her face screwed up in amusement as a half smile played on her lips. It was funny what some people would put online. Haven’s brows knitted together. ”Your manager doesn’t check in on any of these sites? I would think he’d want to with half the things people put up there.” You’d think after his fight with Clark they’d want to heed off any of those photos being found.
”I guess but then again she’s biased. She knows I started the fight but doesn’t care.” Haven shrugged, dismissing the thought. No one knew how much Haven blamed herself for leaving. Probably just as much as she blamed Louis for toying with her emotions the time they were together. Or, well she had blamed her. Haven was learning to let go all off the ill feelings she felt towards him. ”That’s...quite a story. So you just talked like it was nothing, without knowing one another’s names, and then fought at the Charity Ball for...what? No reason again?” Haven found this whole story fishy. She knew Louis and she was getting to know Cameron. Neither of them seemed like people who would get into any type of argument for no reason at all. Even something as simple as yelling at one another.
Haven gave up on finishing her meal as Louis grabbed the dishes. She only ate about two-thirds of her food. While he loaded the dishwasher, she put the leftovers in containers and slid them into the fridge before she wiped down the table. She didn’t think twice of anything either of them did. He may be a guest and she should have insisted he not do anything but he really wasn’t just a guest. ”Thank you for your help.” Haven grabbed her glass of tea that she had refreshed before leading them into the living room. Her body collapsed on one end of the couch after she set her glass on the coffee table.
”Have you done any new painting since being home?” haven still had a couple of his pieces tucked away. She had thought of putting them up but now that she knew Clark knew about Louis it was a bit difficult to. She had a feeling they would quickly be taken down and tossed. That would just break her heart. As he finished up his words Haven glanced behind her out the window and squinted. When had it started to snow? Especially so heavily? Her driveway was already covered with a blanket of it. ”Um I don’t think you’re leaving any time soon. Let me check to see when this is supposed to let up.” Haven reached beside the couch for her laptop and unplugged it. She set it on the arm of the couch as she opened it up. She minimized one screen she had up of some pages she had been browsing earlier about things to put in a prenup. At this point Haven thought it would be best in order to protect things such as her house and her business, even if Maine usually favored the woman.
As she pulled up one of the news sites she pressed her mouth to her balled up first. When she saw the hourly forecast she breathed in. ”Actually I don’t think you’re getting out until tomorrow morning.” Well, this was awkward.

Louis laughed. I know, I know! he waved his hand. Well the way I see it, the cruddy stove needed attention anyways. So I was just doing us a favor. That darn thing would still be in there if it weren't for what I did...So there! he stuck his tongue out at her. It was probably true though. That place they had lived was pretty run down and the darn landlord was a cheap skate. The rent was expensive and the service was terrible. It was a fire trap and it was too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter. But they never seemed to notice at the time, because they were so happy and so in love. Louis shook his head at her. Oh come on now....I made good macaroni and cheese....and not from a box either. Boiled my own noodles, made my own sauce...and it was good and creamy too. It was true. At least he'd been able to make that and a few other little things. My Cheese Burgers were pretty good too. You'd said so yourself if you remember correctly! Louis pulled out his phone and put it on the table. Their numbers are all in there if you want to call them! he teased her. Cameron's pretty handy, eh? Louis would have given just about anything to be the one doing all this stuff with Haven. He would have offered to help Cameron with it, but if Clark found out he'd probably kill all three of them. I'm glad he's here to give you a hand with this stuff....Someone has to keep you from trying to do it all on your own! Haven was a hard worker, a harder worker then most men. She had been known to overdue it from time to time. Louis didn't want her to end up running herself down with all this. Louis laughed at her saying he needed to get a computer. No...no. I'm not getting sucked into the computer vortex....and people can say what they want...I don't really care Louis had always had that don't know, don't care attitude when it came to what people thought about him. If he chased down every rogue story that was printed about me and the band, he'd never have time to manage us. There were certain stories that their manager had, had to pay to keep out of the media, not about Louis, but about some of the guys in the band. But most of them were not true. Really only one had been. The base player had gotten drunk, fought some guy and pushed him out the second story window of the hotel they were staying at. Fortunately, the guy had landed in the deep end of the pool and had only suffered a dislocated shoulder. They'd paid him off and all the reporters that ended up and they watched the guy like a hawk no and kept him out of trouble. Louis still didn't think that Kylie shouldn't be upset with Haven about the whole situation. People got in fights all the time. Louis had started his fair share, just as Haven had. It really was Louis' fault for not just trying to resolve it. He'd always said that running away from one's problems never solved anything. It made things worse every time. And Haven and Louis were no exception. Well yah...we were both kinda drunk...I don't really remember everything we talked about...Just never got around to exchanging names....happens all the time at bars. All that was true, even the part about not remembering everything they'd talked about. He shrugged, not really knowing what to say about why they'd fought. Louis wasn't a good liar at all and Haven knew this. Those eyes of his gave him away every darn time. We....just had discussed some personal things...and were just surprised to see each other....And I guess there was some stuff he told me that he didn't want me to tell Kylie. That was sorta true. It was more Haven that Cameron didn't want Louis to spill the beans about Clark to. But he wouldn't have wanted him to tell Kylie either. Louis hoped that Haven wouldn't ask any more questions. He couldn't lie to her so he'd end up having to tell her what they'd been arguing about. And then it would probably turn into a fight between the two of them. And that was the last thing that Louis wanted. He was enjoying their evening so much. Louis nodded, drying his hand with a towel, as Haven thanked him for his help. No problem. He smiled at her and watched her move towards the living room, waiting a few minutes to follow. He wished he could just chase after her and throw her over his shoulder, take her upstairs and make passionate love to her. That's what would have happened back in the day, when they were together, and in love, and their need for one another, just couldn't seem to be satiated. Louis missed those days. He knew Haven did too, but he wondered just how much. Not really...I need muse for it....And I've been too focused on other things. But I'll have to do something before I leave, because mom's after me to. He laughed a little bit, looking at the floor. She always has muse for her music, so she doesn't understand, when it comes to dad and I and our painting, it's just not something we can pick up and just do....We need inspiration. Louis was just like his dad when it came to painting and just like his mom when it came to music. He could pretty much write a song on the spot, though it would end up being a stupid little ditty most likely, he'd have to really concentrate get something good, but painting he had to have more focus and brain energy and inspiration for. Louis went to the window and pulled back the curtain to peer out. It was bad and getting worse. Visibility was nearly zero. Louis wasn't one to take chances when it came to Maine weather. He wasn't a coward by any means, or scared of driving in the snow. But it just wasn't worth your life to get from point A to point B. When he was younger, he'd wrecked a car by driving in such weather, when his parents had told him not to. He learned his lesson the first time. It'd scared the heck out of him. Especially since so many people died each year. Louis came over and sat down on the couch beside her and looked at her computer. Dang Louis had forgotten on one hand, just how crazy and unpredictable Maine winters could be. Well if I'm going to be "stuck" here all night, we might as well make it fun and interesting..... Louis got up from the couch, a fun plan concocting in his head, but he stopped short Clark's not due back anytime soon is he? Cause I'd rather brave the weather, then him showing up to find me here. Louis was half joking, half serious. If he was due back, hopefully the weather would hold him up to. I'll be right back... He said, going into the hallway and retrieving his coat. We need a big blanket....and you have some marshmallow's right? Louis made sure, before pulling his hat and gloves on and going out the door. He returned a few minutes later, with an arm full of firewood from haven's stash and two long sticks. I say we turn off the lights, and pretend the electric's gone out, start a fire and roast some marshmallows to stick in our hot chocolate Louis had always been one to be spontaneous and make awkward or trying situations fun. Roasted Marshmallows in his hot chocolate was just one of those quirks about Louis. He never lived "raw" marshmallows. Always roasted ones, two to be exact. Anytime he had hot chocolate, and there was no fire available to roast marshmallows over, Louis would turn on the burner of the stove and roast one with a fork over it. People thought he was crazy and maybe he was, but that was just Louis. Getting paper and matches from Haven, Louis started a nice fire, brought in a few more armfuls of wood and moved the coffee table out of the way. Then he set the blanket down on the floor for them to sit on, in front of the fire place, whittled the sticks to a point and got ready to roast some marshmallows. Not many people knew what a kid Louis could be. Most people thought him a more stern, stone faced person. And hew as to most of them. But with Haven, he was someone different...He was his true self with her.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style,width: 350px; padding: 10px; background-image: url(http://i48.tinypic.com/4v3fjd.png);] I would lie & say that you're not on my mind... ”True but it took forever to get that smell out.” Their apartment had never been one that was easy to clean. The building was old and Haven felt like she had always been cleaning it. Her house was like a palace compared to that hole in the wall they had lived in. Before him she never put much thought into it but once he added his artwork around the place and other little trinkets of his, it livened the place up. ”How do you know I was just trying to not bruise your ego anymore then it already was? Us women are fantastic with being gentle around you fragile creatures.” Haven laughed as she pushed at his phone. She believed him well enough though she wished she could get to know everyone in the band at some point. For the way their relationship currently stood that was impossible, though.
Haven nodded with a soft smile on her lips. ”Thankfully he is but he works nights in the emergency room so it’ll be a long process whether he’s doing it or I am.” Part of the reason for asking for his help was for Kylie’s sake. She was making an effort not only to open up to her sister more but others as well. First off being Kylie’s boyfriend. The two seemed pretty serious so she figured she might as well give it a shot. ”Eh it’s not so bad doing everything on my own. At least I know it will get done correctly.” Besides, Haven had always been independent. She never relied on anyone for anything, even money. She worked hard to pay back her business loans and was paying off her mortgage in large chunks at a time. That was all her, not Clark nor anyone else.
Haven shook her head as she raised and lowered her brows in amusement. ”What are you going ot do if you ever stop working in music and get a Joe Shmo job? Hmm? Almost all of them use computers now.” She knew he’d never have to. Haven may not have any idea of how much he had made these last four years but she figured with his old spending habits he probably had enough money squirreled away to live comfortably for the rest of his life. Maybe with a wife and kids down the line. Even if the thought hurt slightly she knew it was bound to happen some day. She was doing just that with Clark after all. Haven had to let herself feel that hurt, no matter how small. That was the only way they could continue to move forward.
Haven desperately needed Louis back in her life in any form. The last four years she had felt like she was lost underwater. Her eyes were open but she could never see more then a few inches in front of her. With him by her side her life had some sort of meaning. He had always been her soul mate. Sometimes people were lucky and met their soul mates and were able to be with them for the rest of their days. And then other times they crossed paths and loved one another but something tore them apart. Those lovers may find their way back to one another but it was never the same. It either made their love and bond stronger or there was just an ocean between them. Haven and Louis had an ocean between them. They both ached for one another’s touch and longed for the rush of emotions as it filled their empty souls, but it was not their time. Perhaps it never would be again or maybe they would but for now the emotional rift was there as the tension remained. It may not always be prominent but it hung between their two hearts.
Louis? Drunk? He hardly ever did that. Then shame washed over Haven. They met in December. December was when Louis came back into her life. When they had kissed and fought-twice. One with more heat then what there should have been. Haven had been toying with his emotions and false hope of restoring something that was no longer there. ”Oh.” Haven smoothed her hands over her lap and shrugged. ”I’m sure he’ll forgive you soon enough. He’s not the type to hold grudges. That is if you two speak again.” Haven was not sure of the likelihood of that. It’s not like Haven could exactly invite him over if she had friends over for dinner. Clark would be severely displeased and she had a feeling Jesse, Kylie and Cameron would have a few things to say about it. Even if it wasn’t to him then to her at some point.
Haven had always been appreciative of the things Louis did, be it for her or back in the apartment they had shared. Too many couples took advantage of one another and what they did. Clark already took advantage of her despite Haven still thanking him for what little he did. Everything about her life was topsy tuvry from what she remembered and she hoped it would be. Haven never wanted much out of life except to find someone, someday, who could truly love her until they died. Now even that was gone from her life. Haven was learning to live with only half a heart again.
Haven curled her legs close to her body. She watched him intently as he spoke about his lack of muse for painting. ”Well, we can’t disappoint her so we’ll have to find a way to find your muse again. We could always take a hike up Katahdin.” Haven hadn’t been up Maine’s smallest mountain in who knows how long. Probably right around the time Louis had left. She went up there to clear her head and try to feel closer to him. ”When do you leave next?” Haven already felt herself dreading it a little. She’d have to keep texting him so she didn’t miss him so much. She knew she didn’t have a right to miss him anyways but that didn’t change things at all.
even if Louis wanted to leave, Haven wouldn’t let him. She would have wrestled his keys away and locked them in her room. He really couldn’t do anything about it then but she knew he never would. Haven really needed to start checking the weather before she made plans with people about anything. ”Intersting…?” Haven tilted her head to the side. He had a similar look to when they were on the trails. It was one that Haven had always loved but now she had to hold back her thrill in seeing it. A despondent look came over her visage. ”No he’s not. Not sure when he comes home next.” Haven’s gaze remained in her lap. After the Charity Ball he had been pretty pissed off with her for dancing and talking to Louis. She had no idea where all that anger was coming from when he still talked to a couple exes and even worked with one. Perhaps it was because it was assumed a woman would always hold a torch for a man after they had broken up. Well, in this case it was true but she did her best to convince Clark that wasn’t so.
Haven pushed up from the couch. ”Louis what are you doing!” She threw her hands up as she shook her head. Of course he’d be an idiot and go out in a snowstorm for what? Firewood? They still had power. she hadn’t budged from where she stood when he came in but had her arms across her chest. ”Oh really? And who is making said hot chocolate because I don’t remember offering you any.” She would cave, though, as she always did with Louis. She went to the front hallway closet and pulled out one of her large knit blankets. Only after she grabbed a spare throw pillow she had in there and let it live up to it’s name by throwing it at him. Haven tossed the folded blanket on the floor before she went in the kitchen and began to warm up some milk.
Haven watched his every movement from where she stood. She was just out of line of sight of where the fireplace was but could still see him. Her hands rubbed along her upper arms. Haven just wanted to take full advantage of his idea and grab a second blanket and curl underneath it with him. Every fiber in her being told her to do so as it’s what always felt like the right thing to do. That was no longer how they could act. The alert that the milk was warm enough broke her thoughts and she made up two large mugs of cocoa. She grabbed a wooden tray to set them on along with the marshmallows, whipped cream and cinnamon. Haven set the tray on the ground before she turned off the lights and grabbed some pillows.
Haven sat to make up her drink first. It was topped with whip cream then cinnamon over that for a little kick. Once made Haven turned to lay on her stomach, her face towards the fire. She took one of the sticks from him and slide a marshmallow on it. She enjoyed the silence for a moment as they hung their treats over the flames. She sent a sideway look at him and smiled wide. Tonight was...perfect. ”I’m glad you came tonight.” A blush crept along the back of her neck for what felt like the hundredth time tonight. Haven pulled her stick away from the flames when her sugary treat caught fire, just as she liked it. Her lips puckered to blow it out and she let it cool before she bite it off the stick, nto caring if it was “sanitary” or not.

Yeah..I know. Louis chuckled softly and scratched his forehead. Maybe I should have let the whole place burn down....We could have collected on our renters insurance and gotten a nicer place. Truth was, they could have afforded to upgrade a bit. But neither had wanted to, because they hated to spend extra money, especially on themselves and they'd been saving from Haven's dream home. So doing some time in a rat hole, never bothered them much....at least, not Louis.
OH?! Men are the fragile creatures are we? Louis laughed in a playfully challenging way. I can't believe you just looked me in he face and said that! He grabbed his phone and shoved it back down into the pocket of his fitted pants, smirking and shaking his head at her all the while. Women are unbelievable! he teased. You all think men are delusional and sensitive, but you're the one's who are always talking about fluctuating hormones and never knowing what you want! Louis couldn't' help but laugh. This was all in good fun of course.
I guess I'll just have to starve. He replied. Louis really honestly hated technology. Okay, not across the board. He liked having his cell phone because it allowed him to keep in contact with all the important people in his life, when he was out on the road. He liked tv when there was something decent on. And by decent, he meant educational. He wasn't really one for watching movies, unless they were of some historical value, and he didn't follow tv shows. Louis liked documentaries and biographies. Sometimes that kind drove the other guys in the band nuts. But Louis wasn't about to change, just because his backing band didn't like his taste in entertainment.
Louis thought it was a bit funny how she assumed he was the one in need of Cameron's forgiveness. How did she know it wasn't the other way around. Maybe Cameron needed to ask forgiveness from Louis. But he didn't comment on it, because 1 it wasn't worth it, and 2, Louis actually wasn't sure which way it was anyways. Cameron really should have told Haven by that point that her fiancee was a lying, cheating, scum bag. But it was kind of Louis' fault that she was in the predicament she was, because he was the one that had left, as everyone, including himself, was so fond of reminding him of. So perhaps they were both at fault. Yah...I'm sure we could work things out. was his only comment.
Louis liked the thought of going up on the mountain. He couldn't remember the last time he'd bee up, but he knew it had been with Haven. It was kind of, one of those spots they went together when they just wanted to escape the world and not be bothered by anyone or anything. There was no cell reception up there and when they were there, they were the only two in the world that knew. Yeah, that'd be great. he told her. Looking like it's going to be early April...I was gonna leave end of March, but I decided to stay behind and spend Easer with the family. It's only a few more days, and it'll make mom and dad happy. Louis was trying to demonstrate to her already that he was going to live up to his promise to do better for his parents. She was right. He was their son, their only son and they were the only two parents he had. He had to put forth the effort to see them more. It must have killed Haven to think that he wasn't putting his all into it, given that she'd have done just about anything to have a man and woman to call her mom and dad.
Haven didn't know when her own fiancee was due back in town? How did one not know that about the man they were going to marry. Was their communication and regard for one another so nonexistent? Well obviously it was, at least on Clark's end, as he was probably staying with one of his tramps until he felt like coming back. It pained Louis to know that he was doing this to her and he wasn't even at liberty to tell her about it. Here was Louis, knowing he'd made a huge mistake, but wanting to patch it all up and cherishing every moment he could be near Haven in any capacity, but wishing to take her in his arms and love her. And then there was Clark, the man who was going to marry her, but obviously couldn't care less about her really, she was just another trophy in his cabinet. It made Louis sick to his stomach. Well I guess we're safe then. He smiled and went on with his plan.
Don't be a spoil sport, I'll be right back. He told her with a half grin, knowing she wouldn't really begrudge him a hot chocolate. She was just being Haven, teasing him. Louis caught the pillow Haven had thrown at him, and stuck his tongue out at her, and tossed it to the floor. By the time she came back with all the needed items for scrumptious hot chocolate, Louis had everything set up and looking very inviting in front of the roaring fire.
Louis laid on his stomach next to her as they roasted their marshmallows. He smiled as he watched her from the corner of his eye, the flames making her face glow brighter. She was so beautiful it made him weak and it made him sad that he'd given her up so easily. It had been a major, major lapse in judgement to leave that night. Louis guessed he'd been banking on her coming after him. She'd started the argument and therefore he'd felt like she was the one who needed to come apologize first. Ego. Ego, ego, ego! It never did anything for you.
Louis as she pulled her flaming treat from the fire and blew it out. She'd always liked hers burned, while he'd liked his perfectly browned all around And that was exactly what he'd gotten. He pulled his out and pushed the two marshmallows off the stick and into his drink, topped it with Cinnamon and took a sip. No one made hot chocolate like Haven. She just had the touch. Me too. he said softly. This was the best night Louis had, had in ages. It was almost like their old times together.
Unlike what some people had thought, Louis and Haven really didn't have sex 24/7. They'd had plenty of fun and quiet moments, just like this one, just enjoying each other's company and making each other laugh. Speaking of which, he knew just how to make her laugh now. Haven...open your mouth....hurry, open it! He said and when she did, despite the curious look on her face, Louis quickly grabbed the spray can of whipped cream, and sprayed it into her mouth. He laughed at her reaction and how the whipped cream fell down her chin. If it had been the old days, Louis wouldn't have hesitated to lean it and lick it right off her chin. But it wasn't and he had to hold himself back. So he tilted his head back and sprayed some in his own mouth. [/size] SORRY THERE'S NO CODE STOOOOOOPID IPAD IS ACTING UP.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style,width: 350px; padding: 10px; background-image: url(http://i48.tinypic.com/4v3fjd.png);] I would lie & say that you're not on my mind... ”Yeah, maybe.” Despite everything “bad” about their apartment, there had been a lot of good memories there. Haven wished she could go back there for even one more day. Just to relieve some of their better times. Moments of it peeked up now between them but it just wasn’t the same. It could never be the same way. She laughed at how he reacted to her calling him fragile but it didn’t quite reach her eyes as her thoughts were elsewhere. ”Hey at least us women have an excuse. Our hormones do fluctuate. What’s your men’s excuse, hm?” Some of the humor traveled back up to her eyes but a little dimmer then last time. Her thoughts were just too jumbled right now. Even if she wanted to stay away from Louis there was now too many connections between them. Between their past, Cameron knowing him and now him being home more often it’d be difficult to avoid him. Maine may be a big state, and Portland a big city, but it was bound to happen they would keep running into one another. Which is why she was trying to get a friendship with him going so it wouldn’t be as hard anymore. If she could learn to breath around him and not want to cry or run into his arms then things would be perfect. She nodded in his direction as she said, ”Yes. You’re both sensible enough of men so I’m sure you could.” Haven didn’t know the extent of their argument, mainly what it was about but she hoped her sister wouldn’t end up hurt by whatever it was. Cameron didn’t seem like that kind of guy but one never knew. April was only a few months away so not very long at all. She knew he was only taking a little time off so it shouldn’t be surprising. Perhaps while he was gone she could gather her wits about her again and get her relationship back on solid ground. Then that’d make things even easier. Perhaps after her and Clark were married he’d ease up on the idea of Louis being around. It’s not like Haven could control every time they ran into one another. This meal was a planned moment. New Year’s Eve was not. Nor were their previous two run ins. If she could control the outer circumstances then she could control her own emotions. ”I guess sometime near the end of February will have to do. Hopefully they have some paths good enough to walk along. You could give her the present for Easter.” She paused as she sipped on her drink to gather her wits. ”How long will you be gone for this time?” It did seem like he was making a effort to try harder with his family which she was happy about. She didn’t expect him to tell them everything he was feeling as they was impossible for him to do just because that’s how he was, not because he didn’t love them. Perhaps one day he’d meet someone who could better nudge him in that direction though Haven’s intentions had always been off. She hated it when parents and their kids weren’t’ close. Sometimes people didn’t know how lucky they were to have even one biological parent when some had none at all. Some people like Haven. Another reason she hated talking to Louis about Clark was because all of the bad going on lately. If anything was asked about him Haven couldn’t hide it. The emotional turmoil was wearing on her emotionally and physically. There were times the stress was so bad she literally got sick to her stomach. Then the sleep deprivation and all the crying had her eyes slightly puffy, which she covered up with make-up. She just didn’t want to give Louis anymore ammunition to fight for a relationship that no longer existed. Once it seemed like he had truly moved on then she’d be more receptive of talking about her own significant other. But, until then, she held back. As she laid next to him, Haven was reminded of the handful of times their apartment had lost power. It wasn’t very well maintained so it happened fairly easily. They’d stay curled up in bed or on the couch while they are whatever foods didn’t need to cooked and just enjoyed themselves. They’d play games, make up songs(or she attempted to and failed miserably) and talked about their futures together. They had always made the best of any situation they had thrown their way. Now it was like going against nature. She wanted to do those things with him but couldn’t. At least not in the same capacity as before. They had both made mistakes that night. Haven should have been more open minded about the record contract but she had been in such shock. And perhaps she should’ve allowed Kaya to tell Louis she came by the house. Then she saw no point in it. Maybe if she had allowed his mother to say that one thing, then their lives would be different. It’s like what would have happened if you turned left instead of right? What sort of alternate life would they be leading? With the lights turned off, the fireplace going and their tray of treats there was a romantic atmosphere about it. The fire made his eyes light up brilliantly, the slight smile in them become more prominent. There was still a tinge of anguish about them but not nearly as much as when she first saw him. The glow lighted his face just so that the way the shadows fell over the planes of his face gave him an intensity that made Haven feel that old draw to him but she held herself back. If she had her way she’d just curl into him right here on the floor and fall asleep in front of the fire. They didn’t have to do anything else but she just wanted to be held by him once more. She ached for it so deeply it caused her actual pain in her heart. Again Haven was hesitant with what he said but begrudgingly complied. When the whipped topping filled her mouth she sputtered her a moment before she rolled onto her back and attempted to swallow what she could. She used her hand to wipe what had fallen out then swiped at his face. ”You’re a pain,” she uttered once she had swallowed the mouthful. She used her thumb to continue to wipe at her face as she shook her head, her eyes remaining on Louis. That pull she felt towards him got stronger. Haven’s breathing became heavy for a moment before she pushed herself to stand. ”Um I think we should call it a night. I have to work in the morning and since I’ll need to shovel out I want to get plenty of sleep.” He leaned down to pick up their empty cups, whip cream and the bag of marshmallows. The dirty dishes were placed I n the dishwasher and the food items in their proper spots. With that done she came back around and stood in the hall to motion with her head. ”I have a spare bedroom you can sleep in.” She led the way upstairs and to the end of the hallway on the right. Haven’s hand flicked on the light before she moved around the room. Aside from her room, this one was her favorite. She went to one of the dresser drawers and put her hand on it. ”There’s some towels in here if you want to take a shower. Cameron has some of his things in the guest bathroom which is the door just out here, next to this room. He also has some pajama pants you could use. Clark’s won’t fit you plus I doubt you want to wear them.” Haven stepped out to go into Kylie’s room. She had just done some laundry today for them so knew where Cameron’s pants were and grabbed a t-shirt as well. She’d just wash them again and put them away before he got back. She carried them into the room and set them on the bed. ”There’s extra blankets in the closet. I can’t update the heating until this summer so it can get a little chilly at night. I’ll be down the hall if you need anything.” Haven nervously stuck her hands in her back pockets, one off habit of hers. With a nod she turned out of the room after she uttered, ”Goodnight Louis.”Once Haven was in her own room she let out a held breath as she closed the door. Tonight would prove to be awkward for sure. She scratched her fingers in her hair as she went into the master bathroom. The first thing she did was taking her sleeping medication. She hated doing that with a guest of sorts in her house but if she missed even one night she got a terrible headache the whole next day. Afterwards she turned on the hot water of the sink to clean the make-up off her face and then brush her teeth before she put some moisturizer on. With those things taken care of, Haven slipped off her jeans, blouse, tank top and bra, which were all tossed in the hamper. With those gone she changed into some soft jersey sleep pants, a black sleep cami and then an oversized purple top over that. With her slippers back on she went back into her room and discarded her jewelry in it’s box, including her engagement ring. She never slept with it on. Truthfully, she didn’t even care whether she had it on or not which was probably a bad sign but Haven ignored it. Haven tossed her extra pillows on Clark’s side of the bed after she pulled back the covers. As she sat on the edge of the bed, she went through her cds of soothing music and sounds. Tonight Haven felt like some classical music. At least it was soft all the way through so it wouldn’t disturb Louis unlike some of the nature or city noise discs did. With it low enough to not travel out of her room but loud enough for her to hear, Haven went around to turn off the lamps. All except for a small one on the table in her sitting area. She put it on the lowest setting before she crawled into bed. The light didn’t do much good anyways. With her sleeping medications, even if she woke up briefly from her nightmares she was too groggy to make anything out clearly. No thoughts or sights. It was more a comfort thing. Haven pulled the covers over her as she laid with her back towards the lamp and her face towards he bedroom door. She grabbed one of the spare pillows close to her body and curled into it. Haven laid there thinking for a good forty-five minutes to an hour before she drifted off the sleep. Maybe two, at most three, hours later Haven began to whimper in her sleep. Her slumbering mind was filled with images that never left her mind. She was twelve at this particular home and the first couple months were fine. But then Haven got into a fight with one of the other girls and punched her in the face. An older one who provoked the attack for the reason of getting Haven in trouble. She knew her foster father had anger issues but had never been the brunt of it until that moment. He made Haven pull down her pants and he took a metal bristle brush used to groom horse manes to her bare bottom. She screamed so loud which kept him going. She wasn’t allowed to tend to her wounds. Haven was then locked in the basement all night with no food, water or a bathroom. She had been so scared as there were no windows. Haven did her best to avoid getting punished again but she was locked in the basement five more times. Two of those times she got hit with the brush again. Once he beat her with his shotgun after he threatened her with it. She had gone on an overnight school trip which he forgot he signed off on so he thought she had run away. He met her at the door with the gun and led her downstairs. That one had been the worst as she ended up with a broken rib. He ended up eating his gun and all the kids were disbanded. That night she heard the crack as he fired the gun one last time to take his life. Needless to say, Haven was not a fan of them. As the memories jumbled together tears escaped her eyes, unbeknownst to her. Her cries steadily grew louder as she half sobbed in her sleep. Her body jerked which caused the blankets to twist around her. Haven had always been difficult to rouse when in her dreaming state but now her sleeping medications made it near impossible. Before, on rare occasions, she had even scared herself awake. Now Kylie would sometimes come wake her up gently or Clark would do so, but in a more forceful manner. On the worst night she refused to sleep in the same room as her which didn’t help Haven’s situation at all. In fact it made it worse because it made her anxious to get help and when she got anxious, her nightmares got worse. Her anxiety had been way up after Louis left which is why they had returned in the first place. Within a week of him departing and then not contacting her they started to happen more frequently until she was back to having them nightly. That hadn’t let up in four years. Regret, heartache and nightmares were all a part of Haven Stowe’s everyday life. notes: <3 - tags: louis - outfit: click! |

Louis grinned laughing even harder now. Our excuse?! he asked, pressing his hand to his chest. Women of course! Louis concluded, shifting his hand in her direction. You're all so crazy that it makes us go nuts....That's why they say the only sane male is a single male. Of course he was still just teasing. Really the only time in his life when Louis had felt completely sane was when he was with Haven. Not before and not since. With Haven, Louis had always felt like he was unstoppable. It's a date. Louis smiled, but a second later, when he realized what he'd said, the smile dropped off his face. I mean...a plan....it's a plan. He really hadn't meant anything by "it's a date". It was just a figure of speech, and people used it everyday with out it meaning anymore then a number on the calendar that they planned to do something on. But, Louis was afraid Haven might read into it and get more out of it then was meant, so he figured he'd clarify....just to be on the safe side. Louis had to play it safe with her for the time being. But he hoped there'd come a day when that would no longer be necessary. It's hard to say....Maybe a couple months. Louis shrugged. We won't be touring for a little bit, so that helps....But our manager schedules our days off...and we might only get 2 or 3 in a 4 - 5 month period....I can request what I want....doesn't mean I'm gonna get it. Louis was a big name, and getting bigger. But he was still at the point where the managers controlled him and not vice versa. If he kept going as he was though, it would happen sooner rather than later. A hush fell over the house as they lay in front of the fire, roasting their marshmallows and sipping their cocoa. But it wasn't a bad silence. It was kind of like old times with them....sometimes, words simply were not needed. After a while, Louis began to hum softly, without even really realizing he was, or noting what tune it was he hummed. After he had consumed his forth marshmallow, he decided that was quite enough and pushed the bag away. With some things, he could kinda be that person, that if it was there, he'd just keep eating it and eating it until it was gone. Good thing he had a high metabolism. Louis laughed at Haven as she sputtered and rolled over. And then she said he was a pain and he rolled his eyes at her, smirking and still chuckling a little. He only ever played this way with Haven. No one else really knew this side of him existed. Yah his parents had seen parts of it, but most just when he was a child. He'd grown up to be a much more serious person. That wasn't bad. It was just that, he was focused on life and what he wanted out of it. He'd grown up quickly, but only by his own choice, and he really hadn't minded that. Louis kind of acted like a person who had been raised in the 1930's when kids had to work to help support their families. But again, Louis had done it all of his own accord. Every bit of it had been his choice. When Haven's light brown eyes locked with Louis' ow icy blue orbs, it seemed for a few minutes that they simply couldn't pull away. Instinctively Louis began to raise his hand to touch her, but she pushed up before he could, making him realize what he was doing. Louis shook his head, as if to clear his mind Haven I'm so... She cut him off by saying that should get to bed. He bit his lip and nodded his head. Right...yeah...you're right. Louis pushed himself up off the floor. As Haven took out the dishes, Louis closed the flu on the fireplace, to make the fire start dying down, and folded up the blanket and put her furniture back in its proper place. Louis followed Haven up the stairs to the bedroom he would use for the night. Louis stood in silence watching her move about collecting items for him to use. He'd give the occasional nod and had to fight to keep himself from scoffing when she said he probably didn't want to wear Clarks. Yeah, that was a given. And he couldn't imagine what would happen if Clark were to return early to find him, not only sleeping in Haven's house, but wearing his pajamas. Louis knew he'd be ticked if he were in the spot. It just looked really, really bad overall, even without the pajamas. Thanks...g'night Haven Louis replied when she had finished. He was wide awake, so he decided to take a hot shower, hoping it would relax him and wash away some of the stress of what had just transpired between them. The night had gone from completely awesome and fun, to completely awkward and tense. Louis hated when crap like this happened. But it was all part of life. After he'd showered and dried off, he put on Cameron's pajama pants, which were just a slight bit short, but comfortable none the less. He skipped the skirt. Louis had never liked wearing shirts to bed. He didn't think about the fact that it left his tattoo completely exposed, probably because he didn't expect to see Haven again until morning when he was dressed for the day. Crawling into the bed, Louis found it to be quite warm and comfortable. But he still couldn't sleep. His thoughts were running wild and he couldn't shut them off. Memories of him and Haven flooded his conscious and nothing he could do would take them away, not that he wanted to lose them anyway. It was better to have had them and feel the pain now, then never to have had them at all. Louis watched the clock tick the hours away and just as he was finally about to drift off to sleep, he heard a strange noise. At first he thought it was just the wind, then he thought he heard maybe a stray cat? Getting up, Louis looked out the window, but saw nothing. And then it got louder and louder and he realized it was Haven. She was having a nightmare! Louis knew of course because for the first few months they had been together, she'd had them quite often. They had gotten less and less until she never had them at all. But now she was having them again?! Louis knew this was all his fault and it was further confirmation that Haven didn't feel safe and loved with Clark. If she had, she wouldn't have been laying in her bed yelling. Louis rushed to her room, swinging the door open without even a knock. He saw her writhing in the bed and hurried over. Louis gripped her shoulders as she began to get louder and louder. Haven! Haven! Wake up babe...It's just a nightmare. Even as she slept, she tried to pull away from him, her arms swing as she screamed no please! let me go she managed to get away from him. No Haven, it's me, Louis! He shook her body, trying again to wake her, but it all seemed in vain. Haven wouldn't be woken. All she would do was scream and kick and the more he yelled to her and shook her the worse it got. In fact, this was the worst Louis had ever seen her! Such a strong feeling of guilt seized him, he felt a strong pain in his heart and red hot tears stung his eyes. In one more attempt to wake her, Louis put his arms about her upper body, holding her own limbs down, and pressed her body close to his. Haven fought against him, screaming as her teeth clenched and she struggled to fee herself from his embrace. Louis kissed her cheek and got closer to her ear. Speaking gently he said again Haven it's Louis...it's okay babe, wake up! It's just a bad dream. Finally he felt her body relax and looked down to see her eyes open. Breathing as sigh of relief, he released her some, letting his hands move to hold her upper arms. Louis thought she seemed a bit confused. You had a nightmare Haven...But it's okay, I'm here now. Louis only meant that he was here if she needed him. Not that he was planning to stay or thinking that just because he'd woken her from her nightmare, and he'd apparently been the only person who'd ever stopped them in the past, that they were back together or anything. Louis reached up and touched her cheek gently. Haven....what's going on here? he asked with concern. Has Clark been...? he didn't even want to say it. If Clark had laid a single abusive finger on her, Louis was going to go find him right now and beat him into a pulp and he didn't care if he went to jail for it. Seriously. He would make the ass pay. Has Clark been hitting you? There, he got the words out, but he was afraid to hear the answer. Haven had been abused enough in her life. Louis didn't want to hear that someone she loved and that supposedly loved her, has been hurting her physically.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style,width: 350px; padding: 10px; background-image: url(http://i48.tinypic.com/4v3fjd.png);] I would lie & say that you're not on my mind... Haven scoffed at his excuse of women as she tried to keep a straight face on. ”Please, you men could handle it if you weren’t so fragile.” She knew she was asking for it but that was alright. She could take whatever Louis dished out because she could get right back at him. As her laughter died down, she cleared her throat out. The smile remained on her face but a little tense. How she wished ‘date’ could me a date and not picking a date to do things. But that hopeful part of her was minuet compared to when he first asked her out. Once she had agreed she always looked forward to the next one. Not the prospect of seeing him made her partly happy, partly sad and partly worried. Those shouldn’t be feelings that she had around him. They didn’t feel right.
”Well hopefully it all goes smoothly for you. I know I can’t wait to hear your new album.” Haven truly meant that. She always looked forward to when something new of his came out, no matter the context of the songs. Haven always loved hearing him perform. It filled her heart with joy to see him doing something he loved and to hear the beautiful melodies he created. He truly had a gift that no one could take away from him. Even now, just listening to him hum, she felt a tender smile creep along her face. It was one that was uncontrollable to have form as only he could draw this sort of feeling out of her. One of complete and utter calm as her whole body relaxed. No one had been ever to do that except for him. Louis always had that special hold over Haven where certain things would always have an affect over her.
Haven had just ignored when Louis seemed like he was going to reach for it. She could control herself better which is what she did. It was why she rushed through getting him acquainted to the guest room. That invisible string that seemed to connect them was pulling her towards him. Haven couldn’t allow herself to let him in that deeply again. She couldn’t take it if he hurt her again. Louis was the only one who could make her whole or break her into millions of pieces. Always had been and always would be.
While she waited for her medications to kick in, her thoughts raced a million places. He really did seem to be attempting to just be friends with her, which she appreciated. It was so difficult because it was obvious both of them wanted to be with one another and there was nothing to do. She could break up with Clark but that’d just make her an awful person. Instead Haven would be stuck in this little rafting floating in the middle of the ocean, studck between two island. One promised paradise from the beginning but the unknown of what was beyond the tree line frightened her. The other looked like a jumbled mess of a jungle, dark and forlorn but the slivers of light gave her hope. In fact it had been one of the dreams that she had soon after Louis’ reappearance into her life.
Haven never knew how frightening it could be just to see her when she was having a nightmare. The foster homes she went to after that one just ignored it and then at the group home she went to therapy. That helped some but not a whole lot. She had just dealt with the sleep deprivation and bruises from when she would kick the wall her bed in her apartment was pressed against. It’s why she never wanted to stay in the dorms. Plenty of people would think she was a freak if they heard or saw her. It was also a reason she discouraged Louis form staying the night for so long. Eventually it was unavoidable and his face when he had gotten her awake was proof enough of the nightmares. Still, he didn’t run. He just held her close and rubbed her back until she went to sleep. Louis had always been able to get her to cease her internal torment which is why his way of helping her had worked so much better then any form of therapy. He had done it purely out of love and nothing more.
Haven tried to fight off her foster father as he shook at her. She couldn’t stop the tears or the screaming. She had no idea how bad she had gotten the last few years. Kylie hinted at things some but it must be frightening to her little sister who never had to deal with the awful things Haven had. Her throat began to feel hoarse from yelling at her foster father. But...wait, one couldn’t feel things in their dreams. At least not like this. There was a pressure along her arms that she struggled against. Her body had a numb feeling along it from her medications. Everything felt like lead yet that she was just floating along. Gentle words drew her out of the terror that filled the back o her eye lids.
Haven was awake but not really “awake”. She thought she saw Louis in front of her but, that was impossible. He was on tour! Why would he be in her room? Confusion was prominent as she swatted at the figure of her old lover and tried to sit up. She felt dizzy. She had to been hallucinating was the thought going through her mind. Louis wasn’t really here. He had left over three years ago. Haven hadn’t seen or heard from him. He didn’t even know she had bought her dream house. She reached up to touch where he had just rubbed along. She could’ve sworn that the form of Louis had touched her and that she faintly felt it. Logically(or as logically in her fogged up mind) he couldn’t really be here. It was just something she wanted so badly that her mind tricked her into thinking he was really here.
Haven broke down. A thick, numb tongue rolled out, ”Why didn’t you come back sooner? I needed you. I opened my store and you weren’t there. Is that how you found me, the article about my store?” Haven’s fuzzy mind thought she was back to the few months after she had opened her floral shop for some reason. The dosage for these pills still needed to be fine tuned so things got mixed up easily. Haven moved to lean into Louis and lay them back on the bed. She sobbed into his solid chest, one arm slipped under her pillow and the other pressed beside her face. This version of Haven-Haven from when she was first starting to see Clark but still clung onto the hope that Louis would return. ”Clark....no we‘ve only had two dates.” she choked out as she shook her head. In her mind they hadn’t even made anything official yet. ”I missed you,“ was sighed out of her lips. Her crying slowed down as she was held in his arms and her breathing began to steady back out. At first she found herself back in the home and she felt the familiar panic settling in but another, stronger voice overrode everything and pulled her away to someplace more pleasant. Haven was back in Louis’ arms just after a picnic they had enjoyed in the park, watching the leaves blow on the trees and the clouds move overheard…
Haven found herself riding a cloud as she pulled from her slumber. It was early in the morning, maybe six or seven, but the judgment of the sunlight as it poked through her wooden blinds. Haven groaned lightly as she shifted her body. Her head pushed against a very solid form while she felt pressure around her waist. When she opened her eyes she tilted her head upwards to see…Louis? What was he doing in her bed? She remembered them having dinner last night then realizing that the sudden storm was too bad for him to drive home in. but she cleared recalled showing him to he unused guest room. Haven used her hands to push against his chest in an attempt to be released from his grasp. When that only loosened it, but not broken it, she twisted her body for one of the smaller pillows and hit him over the head until he woke up.
Haven pushed herself up so she sat with her legs underneath her. Her hair was matted from sleeping but she didn’t care. ”What the hell are you doing in my bed, Louis?” All her clothing was clearly on still so it’s not like they had done anything. She used her hand to comb her hair back out of her face so she could look at him better.

Post by LOUIS ARDEN FITCH on Mar 6, 2013 15:47:58 GMT -5
Louis rolled his eyes and laughed. Alright...I'll let you win this one....They always warn guys not to argue with women. Always have an answer for everything, even if you're wrong! While that was true with some women, it didn't really apply to Haven in a serious manner, so that's why they were able to joke so easily about it. The two had always been able to tease each other and keep it as just that, a joke. Louis never got offended by anything she said when she was in a teasing mood and vice versa. Unlike many other couples who started off teasing, and then one or the other took offense, causing it to get elevated. Louis was glad that when they had fought, it was only ever about real things. Louis glanced sideways at her then started back into the fire. At least I know we'll always have one fan. He smiled and went back to his humming. Louis was glad that Haven liked to listen to his music still. She always had been his biggest fan, though it was a close contest between her and his mother. There had been occasions where the two women in his life had "fought" over the matter. But not a real fight. Just a friendly playful one. Two...actually...three. Mom, Dad, and you....Though I dunno if mom and dad count, cause they're family. Louis started into the flames again, wishing above all else that he could just take her into his arms, hold her and never, ever let go again. He wished he could just come up with a way that would bring her back to him. Louis knew she wanted it. It was written all over her face, it was implied in her every action around him. Yet it couldn't be voiced or acted upon and that was pure, unadulterated torture. Louis wished he could talk to Haven about it. Ask her to tell Clark that she didn't love him anymore, that Louis was the man she was meant to be with, and the Clark would just let her go. If he really did love her, he would. But Louis knew he didn't. Haven was his trophy wife. A girl with a pretty face, who would mind her manners, and preferred to keep to herself, thus making him look good to the public eye. It was sickening. Well if Haven didn't find out about this double life he was leading, the media surely would. And then Clark would be brought down in a scandal and Haven with him. Oh Louis hated that guys guts. Haven's words brought even more tears to his eyes. I'm so sorry Haven.... He breathed I should have come back.....please, please forgive me. It took him a few moments to notice her slurred speech and then she mentioned something about her shop and an article. No...I didn't seen the article. He said in a confused manner. Was she drunk?! No. She didn't smell of alcohol. Sick? She hadn't shown any signs of being unwell and if anyone would have noticed, it would have been Louis. Out of the corner of his eye, he caught sight of a pill bottle on her night stand. The moonlight shown in just enough that he could see what they were. Sleeping pills. Had she overdosed?! No, he didn't think so. Because he wouldn't have been able to get her awake if she had. Louis laid down with Haven when she urged that way, not sure what else to do. Frankly, he was terrified to leave her alone. Louis had been used to her having nightmares and bad ones. But not like this. Never this band. As she sobbed into his chest, Louis closed his arms around her, and kissed the top of her head. Shhhhh.....it's ok Haven...it's all over now babe....I'm here. Louis was by no means trying to take advantage of Haven. It was just clear that she was in need of comforting. Comforting she probably hadn't been the recipient of since he had left. As she lay there, sobbing her eyes out, into his chest, all Louis could think was What I have I done to her. This was all his fault. Every bit of it. Louis had left her when her life was as normal and happy as it ever had been. And now she'd fallen back into this living hell. There was no one to blame for this but himself. A chill went down his spine when she mentioned Clark. Clark?! Why Clark. Her words "no, we've only had two dates". What had he done to her?! Had he forced her to sleep with him before she was ready? That would be just like him. He knew how many women he had bullied and abused over the years. Louis had the feeling that Haven was just another name in the long list of women Clark had used. Haven...It's not Clark...It's Louis.. She began to calm down to his relief and he smiled a little at her next words, touching her cheek ever so gently. I've missed you too Haven....Oh I've missed you so much. Louis gently rubbed her back, as he held her, just like he had when they had first started living together. He kept on until her body completely relaxed against his and she drifted off to sleep. Louis was afraid to move for fear of waking her, but afraid to stay for fear of what she might think in the morning. But at this point he was too tired to reason it out any further and drifted off to sleep himself, content to have comforted her once more. Of all the ways Louis could have imagined waking up or being woken up the next morning, it wasn't with a pillow being wiped over his head, startling him awake. Louis shot to an upright position and started right at Haven, a bit disoriented. He could see she wasn't pleased, not only by the fact that she had woken him up by pounding him over the head with a pillow, and the look on her face, and thirdly, her words. Louis rubbed his eyes, then rubbed his hands down his face and let them fall into his lap. Um...you had a nightmare last night....And I can in the wake you up....And you kinda just....fell asleep in my arms and I didn't want to wake you up...so I....uh...stayed. He muttered the last part. Yah that sounded like a likely story, right?! Like she'd ever believe that. Haven would probably think that he had snuck in to lay with her after she'd fallen asleep. That was so far from the truth it wasn't even funny. Louis scratched his bare shoulder as he waited for her to start freaking out on him. And that's when he remembered he wasn't wearing a shirt. Quickly, he grabbed the sheet, pulling a small punch of it up to cover the artwork.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style,width: 350px; padding: 10px; background-image: url(http://i48.tinypic.com/4v3fjd.png);] I would lie & say that you're not on my mind... Haven kept her gaze on the fire as she sipped at her drink. ”I’ll always be one of your biggest fans, Louis. Next to your parents of course.” She had seen him during his days before he got famous. She loved his music then and she loved it now. No matter the pain he had caused her that was one thing that would never change. Neither did her love for him but she wouldn’t admit that as readily as she did being a fan of his music still. Though it really wasn’t hard to tell that she still felt everything she did those four years ago when they were together. A love like that went to your very core of your being and never left. You could try to will it away but that never worked. Haven thought it had but since he came back around a month ago she realized how wrong she was.
If only Haven wasn’t in a medicated stupor then everything that Luis did to help her would just prove how much better of a man he was then Clark. She did know that but didn’t want to believe so because of how much pain he had caused her hear. But here was a man who was no longer hers, rushing to comfort her without a second thought. Clark never did. He’d just wake her up, ask her why she hadn’t gotten things under control and then leave to go sleep in another room. Or he did before Kylie came. After Cameron got in his face for yelling at Haven once, Clark was cautious about his actions around those two which made the fights ten times worse. Still, Haven stayed, because she graciously accepted the love she thought she deserved. She thought Clark’s love is all she deserved and not anything better.
Part of it was sleep, part of it was her medication and another part was everything she felt truly coming out. That combination was dangerous as Haven sat there in front of Louis. ”You just left…why did you leave?” In Haven’s current state of mind, she partially blamed herself but mostly felt hurt. She still wanted to be with the only man she loved but wanted answers before she let him back in. in her state of psychosis(which it really was) she wasn’t serious with Clark and willing to be with Louis still. Just being in Louis’ arms ebbed the flow of Haven’s tears. She had always felt safe with him. He had always been gentle and eased into things with her. Never pushed her with anything and was gentle when he tried to get her to open up. She had never even asked him to do so, he just did. From the beginning, it seemed like he had just been able to look into her soul and know exactly what she needed and when she needed it.
She nestled against him just as the curtains of sleep began to overtake her once again. ”I didn’t stop loving you.” It was softly breathed out against him. Those words rang true not only for the state of mind she was in but for present day as well.
Haven racked her brain to try to think of what had happened last night but it was impossible. She used the heel of her palms to grind the sleep out of her eyes as well as try to stir up any recollection. She really couldn’t which was a downfall of her medications. Unless she was fully drawn out of sleep then anything said or done to her was quickly erased from her mind. Her hands dropped form her eyes before she crossed her arms over her chest, her sweater hanging off one shoulder. They didn’t remain there long. Haven collapsed her body backwards so her back rested against the iron ends of the bed, though she kept her legs curled under her. One hand went up to swipe along one side of her face as she chuckled in frustration. ”Why? Why must you do this when everything was going so damn good!” Haven twisted her body so she could climb off the bed and shoved her feet into her slippers after a chill traveled up her spine from contact with the cold floor.
She moved to stand near her dresser. ”You didn’t want to wake me? Because I think that‘s bull. I think you had other reasons for staying.” Of course everything he had said the first two times they interacted when he had come home was in the forefront of her mind now. She thought last night had gone so well! They were really making progress as friends but then this ridiculous storm blew in which just plopped them back at the beginning. They were now left in an even more awkward situation then last night. Haven just wished she could remember everything that had happened. Her left hand went up to scratch at her scalp as she tried to recall anything at all.
As Haven began to wake up more, she got more and more pissed off. The anger was bubbling up within her like it did whenever she thought about Louis these days. Well, not every time she thought about Louis but when it came to situations such as thus. ”Even if I was having a nightmare it is no longer your place to do a damn thing about it. Especially since you leaving is why they came back. And to take advantage of the fact that I was in a vulnerable position last night is appalling, Louis. Apparently being a big rock star has made you a selfish douche.” As with every other time they had fought in their history, the words were spat out of Haven’s mouth without a second thought.
Out of the corner of her eye she saw him try to hide his tattoo and she scoffed. What did it matter when she had already seen it? ”I’ve already seen it so don’t worry.” She snapped, both in tone and her fingers after she dropped her hand from her hair. Her arms gripped around her midsection as her face got hard. ”I have no clue why the f*ck you would get that tattooed on you anyways. It’s not like you ever meant it when you said those words to me.” With a shake of her head, she turned away from him and grunted as she turned to grip the edges of her dresser. She wanted to throw something but was trying to control her anger. Haven’s eyes shut as she breathed heavily in and our through her nostrils.
