( STATUS ) COMPLETE Brooklyn drove down the road to Colton’s house one handed. The other hand reached over to make sure the pizza didn’t go flying off the seat. Since she would be leaving tomorrow for London to go see Tristan, she figured she’d go pay Colton a visit. He was a friend of hers though they weren’t super tight knit. They had the military connection to one another. Both had grown up with Marine parents and then Colton went into the Marines himself. They understood each other-how they could be a bit closed off emotionally from others yet willing to help others as they needed. Brooklyn was always going around helping her friends out, the biggest being Oliver Welcott which led her to meet her boyfriend, Tristan. Tristan was about the only person she opened up to fully. Not that she didn’t care for her friends but it was difficult for her. She learned to lock down her emotions, especially when her father was deployed so he didn’t have anything to worry about. And she did a pretty good job if she could say so herself. Brooklyn pulled up to Colton’s cabin and threw her car into park before she cut the engine. She could hear his German Shepherd barking from inside the building as she got out of her car. She went around to grab the two large pizzas out of the car as she went up to his small porch. She shifted the pizzas so she could knock the door before it slide to help rebalance the boxes. She bent her knees to bounce on the spot. Compared to her cool skin, the boxes felt like fire. “Colton! Open the door! I have food and I know you can’t turn down free food!” Brooklyn had already spent time with Kylie and Cameron during the afternoon and yesterday was spent with Sydni and Jude. Tomorrow before she left she’d go see Oliver and see if there was anything he wanted Brooklyn to bring to his brother in England. Yes, Tristan and Oliver were brothers. Funny how that worked out. Brooklyn became friends with Oliver and then met Tristan because of that. Not that she was complaining-Brooklyn was completely ecstatic to be with someone she already loved so much. Tonight though was meant for Colton. With the upcoming wedding, she was curious if he’d be going and how he’d handle it. She had always be sensitive of the topic of his wife and child. While most people said “I’m so sorry” or “How terrible” or “You’re doing so well”, Brooklyn tried to steer away from them. If Colton felt like talking she’d listen and give her words where needed. If he needed a drinking buddy, she was there. She knew this particular friendship was weird for Tristan since Colton understood a part of her he never fully could. She would reassure him that is was nothing as there was no attraction between them. Brooklyn loved Tristan and only Tristan. Nothing was going to shift those emotions so easily, no matter how good of a friend they were. this friendship is bound to be amusing |
