ashton wasn't your typical teenager that hated school. he actually liked it. not every class, but most. his favorite subject was probably science. earth science, to be exact. and his least favorite subject had to be english, american literature. that didn't mean he didn't do well in it, however. ashton kept all his grades up, otherwise his parents wouldn't let him do sports, and sports were his life. basketball, especially, though he played baseball, too. even though he didn't yet have the height one would expect a professional basketball player to have, he still had hopes that he'd get there. ashton had years to grow, figuring by the time he graduated he'd be well over six feet.
he had just come from his german class and was heading to his locker. ashton couldn't wait till basketball practice, but that was still a few hours away. lunch was next, then history, and finally basketball. though he enjoyed school, some days he couldn't wait to be done just so he could get to practice. it was no doubt his favorite time of the day. ashton got his locker open, revealing basketball posters and newspaper clippings about his favorite players. he glanced to his left, seeing a girl a few lockers down from him. as she looked his way, he quickly turned back to his locker, swallowing nervously as he quickly finished shoving his books in. ashton closed it, jammed his hands in his pockets and started off towards the cafeteria, thankfully in the opposite direction of that girl, though the school was full of them, so he'd soon run into another one. he kept his eyes down as he walked, not wanting to make eye contact with anyone. that was the worst, in his book.

Myles had always been an odd bloke. He was never one to fit in with the other kids, even when he was very little. He had a hard time fitting in with his family sometimes but it didn't discourage him. He liked being odd, different. If others didn't like it, then they just weren't worth his time. His family taught him that and he went with it, making only positive choices in friends.
Today in school was like no other. He had been mocked early in the morning for his well dressed state. The word of the day was 'gay'. He had nothing against the homosexuals, he just wasn't one of them, well as far as he knew, and didn't appreciate being considered one just cause he enjoyed certain things. Plus 'gay' wasn't a form of insult so it pissed him off that they used it as such. But his anger from that morning had subsided quickly. Now he was bouncing through the halls once more, glad for lunch break, then it was onto math and then math club then off to his friend's house to watch a bit of sci-fi. It was going to be a glorious day, why waste it by worrying about things he couldn't control?
Myles grinned, spotting his good friend further down the hall. "Hey! Hey wait up!" He yelled and chased him down. "Ash, why you walking so fast?" He glanced behind him, guessing he was probably running from the females but didn't say it aloud to him. "Hungry are we? Growing boy does need all the nutrition he can get." He grinned his stupid goofy grin and stuffed his hands in his pockets. "You doing anything tonight by the way?" ashton had made it part way down the hall when he heard someone shouting and jumped. looking up, he saw his best friend, myles running after him. he grinned, pausing so he could catch up to him. "hey," he greeted, laughing a little when he asked him why he'd been walking so fast. ashton scratched the back of his neck and shrugged, trying to think of a good reason why he would be. myles might have already known, but that didn't mean he wanted to admit that fact. before he could think of anything, however, myles supplied a reason for him, and ashton wondered why he hadn't thought of it himself. after all, he was heading to the cafeteria. "yeah, i'm starved," he said, moving a hand to his stomach to emphasize the fact. in reality he really wasn't very hungry at all, usually losing his appetite when he got nervous.
he began walking towards the cafeteria again, taking his time this time as they continued their conversation. "no, i don't think so." ashton spent his evenings practicing basketball when he could, sometimes guitar, or playing video games. that night, however, he hadn't really thought about, so as yet, didn't have any plans. "why?" he asked, figuring there was a reason myles had asked him. he knew it wasn't band practice, since that was scheduled for thursday nights, so it was probably gaming or watching sci-fi movies or tv shows. the best friends did that a lot, having pretty much all the same interests.
ashton pushed the door of the cafeteria open, holding long enough for myles to join him, then got in line. "are you set for thursday?" he asked, wondering if he'd been practicing the new song. he figured he had the guitar part down pretty well, but he'd find out for sure when they did it together.

Myles of course, always knew what made his best friend nervous. He wouldn't be a best friend if he couldn't figure that much out. He figured it was his job to ease Ashton of his troubles though and tried to make light of the situation so that he wouldn't stress out so much. He really just wanted his friend to be happy but sometimes he tended to go a little awry with his complicated plans.
"Oh you know, I just wanted to know if you wanted to hang out tonight, play games, watch a movie or something. My parents are busy and I figured I'd invite over my good friends and order some pizzas..." He really hoped Ashton missed the whole 'friends' thing. As in plural. He had tried to mumble it but the stuttering was starting, meaning he was probably hiding something. Damn nervous tick.
"Of course I've been practicing. Ready for thursday. Do you think if we practice good they might let us play for prom?" After all they probably weren't going to have dates for it. Somehow Myles always managed to balance all the things he did. Between schoolwork, extra schoolwork, clubs and extracurricular nerdy activities he always seemed to find extra hours in the day to get things done. He never stressed about workload and in fact, enjoyed every minute of it. He certainly was an odd one. "I mean if you don't have any plans for prom." He teased and nudged his best friend, wandering into the cafeteria and standing behind him in line. He glanced around the cafeteria, hoping to spot his other good friend but she was no where to be seen and it made a frown appear briefly on his face before he let it go, grinning at Ashton. "You would think we would learn to bring our own food for lunch." ashton wasn't sure how myles was able to be so calm and collected all the time. he seemed to be, anyway. despite not having a girlfriend like himself. he smiled and nodded when he mentioned plans for that night. but then he heard the word 'friends'. "what 'friends'?" ashton asked, a bit suspiciously. he noticed him stutter and then knew for sure that he was hiding something. he wasn't sure that he wanted to go to his house after all, but he decided to let it good for the time being.
he realized it'd been a stupid question to ask, knowing that myles practiced like crazy. more than ashton, since guitar was more of a hobby for him, with how dedicated he was to basketball. it always came first. "shoulda known," he said with a grin. he shrugged at his question. "maybe." ashton was secretly hoping to actually have a date for it, but he didn't mind having a backup plan. he wasn't sure how myles was able to keep up with everything he did. it was amazing how many activities the kid could pack in. more than he could do, for sure. but then, he was more organized than ashton was, probably. he smiled. "not so far," he replied, though didn't let on about wanting a date. this was different for him, since he'd sort of given up on girls with his first and last encounter of the dating world. slowly, though, he was warming up to the idea of trying again. until he came across an actual girl and could barely talk because of how nervous he was. it was like torture and he knew he must look like a complete idiot.
ashton noticed myles glancing around as if he were looking for someone. "who you lookin for?" he was asking out of curiosity, not suspicion, glancing around himself for anyone he might recognize. he didn't see anyone who he thought his best friend would be looking for, so he brought his attention back to what they would be having for lunch. ashton laughed a little as he nodded. "yeah, you'd think." he didn't mind school lunches, for the most part, though sometimes they could be pretty disgusting.

Myles quickly moved on from the subject of having more than one friend around. He hadn't meant to slip and knew if he answered his question his stuttering would give him away. He wasn't trying to deceive his friend, he really meant the best, really just wanted to help him. After all, its what best friends did. Sure they had their tiffs and small disagreements but they had always stuck by each other. So that's what Myles was doing now. Or he kept reminding, trying to convince himself that that was what he was doing.
Myles tried really hard not to grin. Of course he didn't have plans for prom yet but that's what Myles was trying to fix obviously. He was sorta his secret wingman. "No worries, you're a hot catch I'm sure you'll get a date." He was teasing him, nudging him slightly but meant what he said nonetheless.
"Sorry?" He asked, not realizing he had been so obvious that he was searching for someone. He shrugged and glanced around once more to make sure he hadn't missed her. Although he knew that was simply impossible with that red hair. "Just my math buddy." Which was completely true. He wrinkled his nose slightly at the food that was offered but took it anyways, knowing he would eat it no matter how spongy and tasteless it was. Ugh, school food was the worst but it filled the empty void in his belly.
After paying he turned to find an empty table for the two of them. Out of the corner of his eye, he noticed a flash of red and grinned, knowing already who it was. He nudged his best friend and gestured towards his 'math buddy'. "That's Autumn. Maybe she could be your prom date." it annoyed ashton a tad that myles didn't answer his question about friends. he was no doubt trying to set him up with a girl, which he knew wouldn't work. that decided it. he'd have to come up with some excuse as to why he couldn't make it over that night. he just didn't know what excuse he'd be able to come up with. ashton thought maybe he could use his mom as an excuse. say she needed him to do something for her, and wanted it done that night. he knew he shouldn't lie to his best friend, though, but he really didn't want to be at myles house if there were going to be girls present.
he blushed slightly when he told him he was a hot catch. "yeah, right," was ashton's reply as he nudged him, none too gently, back. he knew myles had just been teasing him, but that didn't make him any more comfortable with it. he knew he wasn't a hot catch, and most girls thought him weird because he wouldn't even look at them. at least, when they were looking in his direction. it was different when they were completely distracted. ashton would take a chance, then, and watch as they talked, laughed, or were just concentrating on a paper. but they never knew it.
he laughed a little when myles questioned him, knowing he hadn't realized how obvious it was. "oh. who's that?" they didn't have math class in the same period, so he didn't have a clue who sat next to him. ashton wondered briefly if it was a girl, really hoping it wasn't. not because he would be jealous if myles got a girlfriend. he'd be happy for him. the reason he hoped it wasn't a girl was the fact that he was looking for the person and would no doubt invite said person to sit with the two of them while they ate. ashton knew he wouldn't have an appetite if that happened.
he looked at myles while their food was being served up, holding back a laugh at his face. ashton took his with good graces, though he wasn't sure he'd be able to get it all down. paying for his food, he caught up with his best friend, looking for an empty table as well. when he felt myles nudge him, he glanced up, seeing a gorgeous redhead not far from them. "shut up, myles!" ashton said, keeping his voice low, as he flushed and quickly walked to the first empty table he saw. he kept his eyes on his plate as he took a bite, not really concentrating on the taste, as his mind was now on that redhead, autumn. red hair wasn't as common, and that made him like it even more. ashton glanced up at his friend, not really mad at him, but in the moment he'd been embarrassed. what if she'd heard him say it? he tried to think of something else before he lost his appetite completely.

Myles sighed softly, knowing he was probably coming on a little strong today. He couldn't help it, he just really wanted to see his friend happy and whole. Being afraid of the opposite sex was no way to live, he had to move passed it eventually. Maybe trying to force girls on him wasn't the right answer... didn't want to freak him out. He hadn't meant to be.. agressive with his help, he just kind of assumed getting over your fear of girls was kind of like learning to swim... you just jumped in. Maybe it wasn't the best idea for Ashton though... "If you want... we can just do something the two of us tonight..." He offered up finally, rubbing the back of his head.
He snorted and poked his friend's red cheek, grinning slightly. "Don't put yourself down. You know you're attractive to someone out there so just stay confident." After all, if he didn't want to change, nothing in the world was going to make him. He had to want it first. "So shush and let me tell you're a hot tamale."
After he realized how much he had embarrassed his friend, he sighed, having, once again, not meant to go so far. He really needed to find a filter for his mouth. He mumbled quietly to himself, following Ashton over to the table, sitting down and picking at his food before he finally addressed Ashton. "Autumn is my math buddy." He finally explained. "The redhead." He gestured, trying to be... unnoticed to save his friend embarrassment.
"She's... uh... really nice in case you... uh... ever run into her. She's my other good friend I hang out with." He felt the need to explain her for some reason. "She uh... heh... brings up odd feelings in me." He grinned, realizing how weird that sounded. "I mean... she's got bright big blue eyes that make her look like a bunny rabbit or something. I feel the need to protect her... like a big brother. I've never felt the need to protect anything in my life." Which was true, being the youngest child in his family, protecting people was never really on his mind. "Autumn is smarter than me if you can believe it. Likes the same things we do though, video games and such." Maybe this was the way to get him to change... slowly, like trying to get used to the cold water. ashton knew myles was only trying to help him out and be a good friend to him. and he was one. more than a good friend, actually. the best. but sometimes he tried a little too hard. he felt bad when myles seemed a little deflated because of his reaction. maybe he should reconsider. "whatever you had planned is fine," ashton replied, hoping to make his friend feel better.
he shrugged when myles implied that there was someone out there for him, appreciating the encouragement nonetheless. "maybe." ashton wasn't usually a downer, but at that moment, he was being one. "i'll believe that when i see it," he told him with a smile. he had to laugh when myles said he was a hot tamale. "if i'm so hot then why don't i have girls flocking to me?" he was teasing, of course, but it was true. if he was braver that might have helped, but a lot of guys didn't have to chase after girls. the girls came to them.
ashton nodded. "i figured." he still didn't look up, pretending to concentrate on his food. the girl probably wasn't looking in their direction, but he wasn't about to chance making eye contact with her, just in case. he listened as myles went on about her, wondering why he was continuing to talk about her. despite himself, he became more and more interested in autumn the more he spoke about her. ashton tried not to show it, however, taking little bites of his food and keeping his head down, glancing up at his friend now and then. the part about the video games interested him the most. "really? she doesn't.. look the type," he commented. and really, she didn't. autumn looked too much the girly girl to be into video games. girly girls were ok, though. he liked them. ashton wasn't about to admit it, but he was beginning to like her, even though he'd never spoken a single word to her. the fact that she played video games and was a girly girl on top of it was cool.

Myles held back a grin, knowing he had caught his curious friend in his web. It was too easy. Then again, Autumn WAS an amazing person, it wasn't hard to get someone to fall for her. She was just born that way and Myles wanted to find a good fit for both his friends so... why not get them together? They were, after all, his best friends and they were also quiet amazing on their own, why couldn't they be that way together as well? Worth a shot at least.
He spoke no more of Autumn, hoping Ashton, if he really was curious, would fish for the answers on his own. After all, Myles couldn't do all the work, it was exhausting. "We can play some games and eat some pizza, just the two of us. Well I can't guarentee one of my siblings won't pop in... seriously wonder why they all moved out if they just spend all their time at mom's." He mumbled to himself and poked at the food on his plate, wondering if it was edible or not.
"What is this suppose to be? I know what it looks like and what the lunch sign says but I don't believe they're both in sync..." He chuckled and leaned over to see what his friend was eating. "I may go steal someone else's food since I know they always have good stuff... kind of feel like this was a waste of my money."
He glanced up at the redhead across the room, wondering if she had noticed them yet. She seemed in her own world today but what Myles was really interested in was the lunch bag she had. Yes he was aware Autumn had a rather... gifted life and was certain she had something delicious in there. Myles was a growing boy and well... Autumn didn't need to loose her figure.. wouldn't hurt if he... shared...
He shook his head, getting his mind off food for a moment as he glanced back at his friend, wondering what was going through his mind. He tapped him lightly on the top of his skull. "So we'll kick arse in video games and watch a couple of sci fi flicks and pig out... maybe get some homework done but that's up in the air..." He chuckled, knowing very well he would do his homework before the morning, he was too much of a nerd not to. Post by GEORGIANA HAWKINS on Mar 28, 2013 10:55:11 GMT -5
The day had gone pretty much the same as it always had for Georgiana. Go to Biology; have some kids make fun of her. Go to Math; the teacher didn't like her and always put her in the spotlight. Go to English; get made fun of some more for 'loving books too much'. She didn't mind this usually, but the days were getting more and more difficult with the strange occurrences around town. As the bell rang for lunch she was glad to actually get a break.
She walked to the cafeteria like the other students, though quite a few of them put a lot of space between them and her. A few kids attempted to try to trip her as they walked by.
She finally arrived, and sighed. There didn't seem to be a lot of free tables left. Georgiana usually sat at the far back, where the tables around the table she sat at were empty as well. Today seemed to be particularly crowded though, so finding a vacant seat was a task. She finally found an empty table, and sat down. There were other kids around her, but they didn't seem to pay any mind to her. She opened her backpack, grabbed her lunch bag, and closed the backpack back up. She had to make her own lunch, and since she didn't have a lot of income it was simple. A peanut butter and jelly sandwich with an apple and a water bottle. Today though she managed to get her hands on one of the Cuppycakes famous cupcakes, and so she was looking forward to eating that.
She began to eat her sandwich while listening curiously to other peoples' conversations. She started to focus in on a certain conversation involving two boys at the table next to her. She glanced over briefly to see who they were. She didn't exactly recognize the first boy, but she thought she recognized the second one. She just couldn't remember his name, or which class he was in with her -if any. She loved to talk to people, though she found it easier to talk to adults than kids her own age. And it was the fact that she was constantly bullied or ignored that made her even more distant to her classmates.
She happened to catch the second boy saying something about video games and sci fi flicks. She was never that great at video games herself, but she enjoyed playing one as a way to relax. She had a pretty old game system due to not being able to afford any of the new ones, and so she was stuck with only having access to two or three games (which, after a while, became boring since it was, well, the same two to three games). And she didn't watch TV too often -since the programs the apartment her and her mother live in were limited- but she does enjoy the sci fi genre. In books, though, that and fantasy were her two favorite subjects -and if it were sci fi fantasy she would be all over that book. Though, she didn't exactly have anyone to discuss this with, since when she spoke to adults they didn't exactly talk about books, movies, or video games. She couldn't just walk up and start talking to those kids, since the last time she tried that she got a cup full of soup thrown at her face. Thankfully the school's food was atrocious enough that the soup was cold, but it still hurt inside to be rejected like that.
Georgiana took another bite out of her sandwich, deep in thought. She looked at the two boys again, though she may have looked for too long to remain unnoticed. She wasn't exactly the subtle type.

"how old is she?" ashton asked, trying not to sound too curious. he glanced up at myles, making sure he wasn't looking at him, then cast a look at autumn. she wasn't looking in his direction, fortunately, so was unaware of it. he quickly looked back down at his plate and took a small bite. after a minute he cleared his throat a bit. "what's her favorite? game, i mean." again, trying to sound nonchalant. ashton was sure he wasn't convincing his friend, though. myles knew him too well. but that didn't mean he wasn't going to try.
he smiled, knowing his best friend was trying to be nice, and not include anyone but the two. "it's alright. even if.. friends are coming over, i'll still come, too," ashton told him, trying to sound confident when he said 'friends'. it was true. he would come and wouldn't try and come up with reasons why he couldn't. myles was such a good friend to him, so he figured he owed it to him. he didn't mind if his siblings were around or not, since they didn't bother the two of them much.
ashton laughed. "i have no idea," he answered as he looked at his own plate. "it doesn't taste like much which is better than it tasting terrible, i guess." he shook his head, grinning, when myles said he might steal some else's. "what are they supposed to eat, then?" he agreed that it was a waste of money, though. "we'll just have to start remembering to pack our own, i guess," was ashton's reply.
he'd been looking down at his plate again, when he felt a tap on his head. ashton gave his head a shake and laughed, reaching a hand up to fix his hair. "you can bet i'll kick arse. your arse." he was teasing, of course, though whether he would or not was up in the air. they were usually pretty evenly matched, and often tied. his mind had been temporarily taken off autumn, and he was looking around more freely now. that was when ashton noticed a girl at the next table. she had long brown hair and kind of looked like a pixie. he thought she was cute and obviously a couple years younger than them. she was looking in their direction, but it seemed like she was looking more at myles than him. he didn't recognize her at all, but maybe his friend would. "looks like somebody's checkin you out," ashton joked quietly to his friend, nodding his head a little in her direction. "do you know her?" maybe they had a class together or something.

Myles couldn't help but grin a bit as he stared down at his food, trying terribly hard not to stare at his friend with the 'I KNEW IT' look he was currently sporting. He was nibbling at his food, hoping to find some flavor within its folds. "She's sixteen. Pretty sure she's a junior though, skipped a grade or something." He paused to think about his other question, wondering what Autumn was currently into at the moment. "I think she's playing Skyrim right now to be honest. Her favorites are always changing so I stopped asking." He chuckled softly, thinking of how indecisive she could be.
He shrugged, not sure if inviting people over was such a good idea at this point. Well he would think about it at least. He nodded at his best friend, "Well you can come over and if you wanna bring a friend go for it but I'm not sure if it'll just be us or not. I'll figure something fun to do, you know me, Mayor of Funtown." Well that was awfully cheesy.
Myles wrinkled his nose, poking at his food with a fork. "Yeah I really should pack a lunch but you know... too lazy in the morning to do much of anything except shower and dress myself." Then again, he could probably convince his mother or sister to help him pack a lunch. He was the baby of the family after all. Plus if he batted his eyes at Autumn she would probably bring him in something too. He would be rolling in packed lunches.
Myles had missed Ashton's glances at Autumn which was probably a good thing, his ego was large enough. He grinned at his friend, knowing if they were alone he probably would try and kick his arse. He blinked, confused as he glanced around for the source of the stares that Ashton had noticed before him. "Oh hello." He said, rather confused to why she was paying attention to him of all people. Plus she didn't look familiar. Then again, he didn't really pay attention to freshmen too much. "Can I help you?" He wasn't being mean or short with her, Myles was just a 'get to the point' kind of person. "You can sit over here if you want to." Post by AUTUMN WYNTER SOMMER on Apr 2, 2013 11:17:47 GMT -5
It had been an awfully long day thus far and it was taking its toll on Autumn. She had just come from gym and even though her family didn't want her to take the class, she had decided to anyway. Of course the teachers all knew about her condition and treated her like a china doll, fragile and about to break at any moment. She hated it but of course it was against her nature to show any anger or lash out at anyone. She simply smiled and told a lot of people she was fine... a lot of times. Gym was definitely hard on her body. It usually left her gasping for air and feeling quite dizzy and today was no exception. But she didn't want to live in fear. Death was just an inevitable truth to her now. She didn't know when, but she knew it was going to be sooner than any of her classmates. Unless they decided to get drunk on prom and then proceed to drive but that was just poor judgement.
She had wandered from the locker rooms, to her own locker, to the lunchroom. She sighed softly and sat herself down with a few girlfriends. She wasn't great friends with them but she fell into their clique and they all wanted to love her. Mostly for her popularity. She was not blind to the fact she was one of the prettiest girls in school. She was also probably one of the richest if not THE richest. She was most definitely the most intelligent girl in the school as well as the kindest. All of these things meant lots of kids wanted to be her friend but very few wanted to be her friend for the right reasons. She wasn't stupid, she knew who was a true friend and who wasn't. But being kind and living life to the fullest meant she had to take time and be patient and nice to everyone, even the ones that just wanted something from her.
She glanced briefly around the room, smiling softly at all the happy faces, glad to see no one was fighting. Although the lunchroom was clearly set up by cliques. Finally she noticed her math buddy and smiled, giving him a small wave from across the room. She almost stood up and wandered over but figured that was probably not best, seeing as he was sitting with his friend. Autumn had never spoken with Ashton but mostly knew him because Myles and Ashton hung out a lot and were good friends. Myles talked often of Ashton and he was awfully cute but Autumn was too smart for Myles to trick her. She wasn't about to ask any boys out right now, not with her health up and down.
She sighed softly and winced a bit, feeling like she might be sick. Autumn really didn't want to miss math class though. Maybe it would just pass. Either way, her appetite was lost.

Georgiana blushed, and quickly looked away. Shoot! She was embarrassed, but she knew they boys would take her embarrassment the wrong way -not that they weren't cute, it was just that she was more interested in what they were talking about. She looked back. "Uh... S-sorry, um..." She realized she didn't recognize these two boys -double shoot! This was embarrassing! She might be talking to upperclassmen! "I was just, um... I happened to overhear something about sci fi, that's all." She smiled nervously.
She enjoyed conversing with others, but it was the fact that she had drawn attention to herself at school that made her nervous to speak to these two kids. Thankfully, the boy who spoke didn't sound that mean. Maybe he was annoyed by her staring, though?
She blinked at the invitation. "Oh, uh, it's alright. I didn't mean to interrupt your conversation with your friend." She was still embarrassed, especially since she had blurted out before about the eavesdropping. She had even stopped eating her sandwich since she was so flustered.
She remembered one time when a teacher asked if she liked anyone. She was friendly with this adult, yes, but she wouldn't tell the teacher something like that. To be honest... well, she didn't have a crush per se on anyone. While she wished she had one, she realized that it was futile to think that, since most of the boys she would have a crush on either wouldn't give her the time of day or would make fun of her. What she wanted more was a friend to talk to about anything -even if the friend was an adult. She wanted to have sleepovers and play dates and shopping sprees with her friend, or maybe watch some sci fi movies or read a book out loud to each other. She didn't really care who her friend was; she only really cared that they accepted her the way she was. She hadn't had any luck so far, but, then again, she hadn't exactly exerted herself and go find the friend she wanted. She didn't even mind if she had more than one friend, but her first goal was to achieve a friend that was actually a friend, and not someone she just talked to in a friendly manner.
